Chapter 160: Chapter 160 The Other Royals

Amber’s POV

"Whoa, sis. That’s a lot to take in."

"Yeah, tell me about it."

"Have you talked to the other Royal’s about what Berion said?"

"No, they wouldn’t even look at me afterwards."

"Are you sure they wouldn’t look at you? Or were you the one who dodge them?"

"Maze, what do you mean?"

"Oh, Amber. Ever since we were little you had an ability to avoid people whenever you felt like you disappointed them. It never worked with me, because, well, I am your twin and I know what is going on in that pretty head of yours. But others. You would hide in our playroom or in your own room until father or I dragged you out to face the people you were hiding from. You really don’t remember?"

"I hate disappointing people."

"Yeah, and almost every time you told us they were avoiding you, when in reality it was you who were hiding from them and they didn’t know why." Maze crosses his arms. I hang my head, knowing he is absolutely right. I’ve been cooped up in our quarters, keeping the girls as my excuse of not going out - even when they wanted to. I can’t believe I would do such a thing? Maybe I am not ready to be a Queen after all.

"Don’t do that, A."

"Do what exactly?"

"Don’t go all ’Oh, I’m such a bad person. Maybe I shouldn’t even be Queen’, or whatever is going on right now. I can feel you, ya know."

"That makes three of us. Baby why are you suddenly doubting yourself?" I look up to see two worried mates standing there. They both sit down beside me, and Maze moves to a chair.

"I’m not doubting myself." Chase growls quietly.

"Don’t lie, baby. I’ll have to punish you later then." I feel my pants immediately wet at the thought of the kind of punishment he’s talking about.

"Amber, if you are worried about the others, why don’t we just go talk to them?" Blaze says, taking my hands in his. I look into his eyes, getting lost once again. He smiles, and I blush.

"Okay, if you really think they’ll talk to me."

After asking Glaciel to look after the girls, we go to the small office by the dining hall. It’s more informal and only used if important messages or persons arrive during a banquet or other festivities. Chairs have been moved in here to accommodate everyone, and Chase says he had a feeling this was where things were going. I raise an eyebrow, and he laughs. He only nods to Maze, who guiltily says he reached out to my mates before seeing me.

"You and mother tricked me."

"No, but she knew you would listen more if I was the one to bring the message. Don’t be mad at her. You know you and her have always been quick to go head to head." I sigh. He’s right, though I am not going to admit that to him or anyone else. I close my eyes, seeking comfort in my inner flame before I have to do this. I don’t know why, but these things always trigger something inside me. Like they will see that I’m a fraud or something similar.

The door opens, and the others walk in. Everyone is looking at me with curiosity, and Blaze makes me sit on his lap for comfort. I smile at him gratefully, but I need to do this on my own. I kiss his cheek, moving to my own chair and keeping my head high. I am the Queen of witches and werewolves, and I’ll be damned if I don’t act like that. Mom transferred the powers to me, no matter if she told me or not, she trusted me to take over her role as the sovereign of her people. I will not let her down, and neither will I let myself or my little family down. Chase and Blaze have been doing all the chores and duties of both the King and Queen. I need to do better. Ignis agrees. We’ve both been slacking as a mate, mother and Queen. We need to rectify this and begin to face the realities head on instead of hiding. It’s just much easier to hide. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

"King Chase, you summoned us?" King Mesus says, as he holds the hand of his Queen. She looks at me, her eyes burning into mine.

"It’s the Queen who wants to talk to us, not the King and Prince." I raise an eyebrow.

"How did you know, Queen Adalia?"

"I have a gift." The simple answer surprises me, but it also pleases me. No bragging, no high and mighty, just a simple explanation.

"You are right, I wanted to talk to you."

I take a deep breath, looking around the crowd. Reminding myself that I have to do this if I ever want the prophecy to be real about a united Dragon Lands.

"I want to speak to you about two separate things." I look at everyone again, while both my mates are encouraging me silently.

"First; King Daron, King Oron. Your mother and fake mate have been tried before a judge and found guilty of treason. They have been sentenced to death. I wondered if you wanted to say goodbye before the judgment is carried out?" This may sound harsh, but they make their beds, and now they have to reap the consequences.

"That woman almost ruined me, my Kingdom and everything I’ve been working on since I became King after my parents died. She can rot in hell for all I care." Oron says with venom in his voice. I nod in understanding, turning my eyes on Daron. His eyes hold pain, and I understand how the treason of his own mother has to be very painful and unbelievable.

"I don’t know what to do or think, if I have to be honest. I know what she did, and I understand why she has been sentenced to death. But she is my mother, and I love her no matter her crimes." He looks straight at me, and I hope he finds understanding in my face.

"I will wait until the end of this meeting to have your answer then, King Daron." He shakes his head.

"Am I still King after this meeting? I will take the decision now and that is not to say goodbye. She betrayed her kind and her family by her actions. No matter what, she will always be my mother and I will always love her. But she deserves this punishment." I nod at Chase, who’s eyes cloud over.

"The other thing I wanted to discuss with you is a divided case; I know I have been hiding the last couple of days, which is the wrong way to handle things. For that I sincerely apologize. I told myself it was not me hiding as much as everyone else avoiding me. A habit I want to change for the future." The other nods, seemingly accepting my apology.

"Second; we all heard what Berion had to say at our history lesson, but I also received a message myself. A message I will now relay you all. I ask of you to let me speak without interruption and then let me explain my thoughts afterwards." They nod again, as I relay what the painting mirror told me. The faces around me pales considerably as I speak, but no one interrupts me.

"The conclusion from the message is clear, as well all know. And by the pale faces around me, I gather you all know about the prophecy." More nods.

"As so, I am allegedly going to be Queen of everything and everyone, but! That is not to say I have to be the only Queen." The pale faces turn curious, as I smile at them. Chase and Blaze already know where I am going with this, and they agreed with me.

"We are going to change the order of rank between us all in this room, but no Daron, no one is losing their title." I look at him with a small smile, as he smiles back.

"As I am to be Queen of everything, which is daunting in itself, I will suggest the title of High Queen, and for my mates; High King and High Prince. This means our city will be the main capitol of the Dragon Lands, as the cities of each or your current Kingdoms will be the main city in each new district. There will be no more four Kingdoms, but one Kingdom of Dragons, and four districts all ruled in everyday by their own Royal couple - when Daron and Oron find their mates." People chuckle.

"You will all still be Kings and Queen, but you will also all answer to me and my mates. We will, of course, travel the lands and visit each and every corner of the Lands when all this drama has cooled down." Silence meets me after my speech and I see Mesus and Adalia’s eyes are clouded over, as both Oron and Daron seem far away in thought.
