Chapter 147: Chapter 147 Schemes
Amber’s POV
As Callus grows bored with beating on me, he keeps asking about Gia. Honestly, why does the man think I know where his bitch of daughter is? She was there when the girls and I were grabbed.
Then the lightning strikes, and the words finally hit ground in me. Gia is his daughter and he knows it - all the while he is trying to pair his son with his daughter. Talk about inbreeding. It makes me want to gag, but I hold it back. Wait until Chase hears his insane father tried to get him together with his half-sister.
"Are you done soon, Callus? You know you can’t kill her, not yet anyway." Someone says outside the cell. I keep my eyes closed, and my body slacked, so Callus keeps his attention away from me, and on the person outside the cell.
"I know, it doesn’t mean I can’t have some fun with her," Callus says with a sinister tone.
"Uh huh, maybe you should try and pay attention to that crazy woman you decided to be with instead of the devoted Queen you had." The voice says, taunting. Callus growls.
"Do not use that tone with me, Rose." Callus sneers, but the woman just laughs.
"I’m using whatever tone I want with you, little brother. You are in no position to say or do anything as of right now. Btw, did you know Gloria is planning to storm the castle to look for Gia?"
"She’s WHAT?! With who?" freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"The army."
"She’s not taking MY men to the castle. That’s suicide."
I hear Callus walk out of the cell in a hurry, slamming the door and locking it after him.
"You stay out of that cell, Rose, if you know what’s good for you."
"You think I’m stupid, little brother."
"I don’t know what to think, to be honest, Rose."
"I’ve stayed out of your life, like you demanded the day our father named you heir to the throne instead of me, and I came back to your side when you sent word to me. Do you think I’ll go against you now? Wonderful. So much trust in this family, huh." The heavy footsteps indicate Callus hurting down the corridor. And for a few moments, everything is quiet, except for my own heavy breathing. Ignis is doing her best to heal me as quickly as she can.
After a few more minutes, the sounds of keys in the lock make me open my eyes. The unfamiliar woman looks like a friendlier female version of Callus, and an older version of Chase. She’s definitely related to them.
"You can stop pretending now, my Queen." She says, her voice soft and warm. A warmth that surprises me.
"You knew?"
"I’m not as stupid and cocky as my brother. There were signs, and I know how to read them. Just like I know how to plant small seeds of mistrust and bad ideas in the right people around here." She smiles, and it reaches her eyes. She produces a smaller key to unlock my chains, and then a small staff to unlock the neck ring. It doesn’t really matter, but I’m not about to complain.
"We need to get you out of here as fast as we can. We can hide you at one of our safehouses, and send word to my nephew where you are."
"Safe House? Who are we?"
"The rebellion. There are a lot of people who are not in support of my brother and his schemes. I will explain everything later, but right now we just need to get out of here."
"Wait what? You have been out there all along, and you have not done anything to hinder his reign before now?" Anger is bubbling under the surface, and this woman, however sweet and kind, does not just wander in here and play the hero. Chase was the one to finally do something to his father, and end his terror regime.
"I know you don’t think so, but we.."
Rose is interrupted by the sound of screams and stone doors being broken down. Rose looks around in a hurry, and takes my hand to lead me out of the cell. Ignis surfaces just in case, and we share control so she can take over in a hurry should the need occur.
We ran out together, the screams getting louder and more panicked.
"They are inside. Coming from the underground."
"No, they are coming from the cliff side."
"We’re surrounded."
"Get the prisoner."
The shouts go over one another, as Rose leads me through a labyrinth of hallways and corridors. Each time we hear someone running in our direction, Rose drags me into the shadow of a doorway or down another corridor.
Soon we hear the roar from the prison area.
"WHERE IS SHE? SHE IS OUR LEVERAGE OUT OF HERE."
Rounding a corner, we almost collide with someone, and they grab my arm harshly. Rose tries to keep her own grip on my hand, but the figure is much stronger.
"Aha! Not stupid, huh, sister?" Callus says with a victorious tone, as his grip tightens around my arm. I winch from the pain, but then all of my anger from before surfaces, and Ignis roars in my mind.
I yank my arm from his grip, while shifting in the middle of the corridor. My wolf snarled and growled at our enemy. Callus smirks, as he is about to shift as well. Ignis sends a burst of magic against him, binding him to his human form. Callus’ eyes widened in surprise and anger, before he charged against us. Ignis reacts on instinct, and chomps down on the former dragon King. Her paw on his chest, and her teeth inches from his face, Ignis is about ½ a second from killing him, when a piercing scream interrupts the otherwise silent corridor.
We turn our heads to see Gloria holding Rose in a chokehold with a silver knife at her throat.
"Let my mate go, and the cunt won’t be hurt." She sneers, but she just signed her own death sentence. I don’t care about her, but I know Chase would want Callus to face trial and death the right way. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
We focus on the knife, sending heat into it, until it’s glowing red. Gloria whelps and tosses the burning knife to the ground. Rose ducks, and we send Gloria flying through the room. She smashes to the wall with a sickening cracking sound, and Callus howls and growls in anguish as we kill his mate. I have no remorse, and Ignis thrives in the sounds of our enemy’s pain.
"We need to take him prisoner, Amber," Rose says, walking cautiously towards us. Ignis growls at her, and she backs up a bit. Her eyes cloud over, and she smiles.
"Let’s just wait here then, shall we? The calvary should be here soon." And with that, she sits down in our line of sight, but out of reach. Her back was up against the wall, and still close enough for no one else to try anything with her.
Callus is heaving for air under Ignis’ paw, and she snarls at him. Her hatred for this man overpowers everything else at the moment, and I have a hard time reeling her in. At last, it’s not me, but the two voices flowing towards us that calm her enough to give me back control.
We turn our head to see Chase, Blaze and my parents running towards us. Chase and Blaze stop dead in their tracks and stare at Ignis. She whimpers slightly at their stare, but then both their faces lit up in radiant smiles and their eyes rake over her wolf form. I see the lust swirling in their eyes, and I roll mine in her mind. Fucking horny mates. Of all times, this is really not the right one.
