Chapter 14: Chapter 14 Alliance

Abigail’s POV

Kaiden, Laurel and Brandon join us at breakfast. They are all very entertained by my over enthusiasm towards all the food. Even Matt seems fascinated by my gushing over how much food there is, and how good it all tastes.

"Oh, this is so good." I moan, and everyone laughs at my antics.

"Abby, one should think they did not feed you back at Black Moon?" Kaiden says with a smirk. I stick my tongue out at him, but am not about to humor him with an answer.

"Kaiden let her be. She is filling up the energy to handle my brother today. She needs this. I can assure you." Laurel says to him. I look up at her to give her a grateful smile, but the mark on her neck distracts me.

"Whoa.. What is that on your neck, Laurel?" I ask, after swallowing my food. Her cheeks get a deep shade of red, and she hides in Kaiden’s chest.

"Hey! She was defending you, food monster, so don’t embarrass her." Kaiden comes to her defense.

"Food monster?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

Kaiden only gestures to all the food on my plate, and I giggle.

"Okay, okay. Sorry Laurel, but seriously congratulations." I smile at them both.

Kaiden has become a good friend in a short time, and he feels like an irritating big brother.

Matt and Brandon watch our exchange with interest, but when Kaiden calls me a food monster, Matt growls lowly. I just think it’s funny and liberating that we can talk so freely.

"Brandon." I call out of nowhere. He almost jumped in his seat and slowly looks at me.

"I didn’t have a chance yesterday to talk with you. I would prefer if you would call me Abby or Abs. Luna or Abigail is only when absolutely necessary - so never." I giggle at his shocked face.

"If you are sure Lu... Uhm, Abby." He looks at Matt.

"Matt has no saying in this. I have decided to be a different Luna, and want those close to me to be my friends. And friends call each other by name, not title."

They all look at me, and I’m afraid I said something wrong.

"Damn Alpha Matthew. Can I have your Luna?" Someone from the door asks. We all snap our heads to the man there, and then Matthew laughs.

"No, but I will let her beat you up if you try. And it is just Matt or Matthew, remember?" Alpha Jason chuckle.

"Then I insist you just call me Jay or Jason." Matt and I stand up to greet Jay and go to the conference room. We have a lot to talk about. Before we go, Jason hugs Laurel and congratulates her on the marking, making her blush once more. He then shakes Kaiden’s hand with a smile.

"So, we need to discuss my sister, but I also want to discuss something else with you." Jason states as we sit down in the conference room.

"I have been talking to my father, and he does not seem overly fond of me breaking free from his grasp and thinking on my own." Jason shakes his head.

"Actually, he seemed really surprised and angry that I told him off. He needs to step down and accept me as his Alpha now." I smile. Jason seems like a good man, and the fact he has told his old man off was a start. It’s steps in the right direction for him and his pack.

"What exactly did you tell your father?" Matt asks.

"Well, for starters, I will have a tournament where everyone - male and female - can fight for the positions as beta and gamma. I don’t give a damn who thinks they are entitled to the position. Carl and Macias, my gamma, are lazy and brute idiots. My father, no discussion and no buts from me, chose them."

I furrowed my brows at that.

"So your father chose your beta and gamma? You had nothing to say... That is just wrong. He sounds like someone who doesn’t want to step back and let another lead?" Jay nods.

"That is exactly what the issue is, Luna." Jay answers me with a small smile.

"It’s just Abby or Abs. Please, no formalities." I say.

This is weird, and I fall back into deep thought. Why would Jason’s father choose his beta and gamma for him, and not let him do it himself? Did his father not trust in his abilities to choose the best for the job? Or was there something deeper in this mystery?

"Abby, it is then." Jason accepts, breaking my train of thoughts.

"Well, as for my father. I am not sure if she will accept me as his Alpha and let me lead. I had to order him to stay home, because he was adamant to come here and be the one to decide with you. It was like, when we were together yesterday, something snapped inside of me. I could say my opinion again and make my own decisions, sort of." At that, I stand up and walk over to Jay.

"Please let me look?" I ask, while gesturing to his head.

"If you have been spellbound, I will sense it." Matt and Jay exchange looks before he nods to me. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

"Close your eyes and relax. I am going to look inside you head. There will still be residues from the spell, if there ever was one." I explain as he leans his head back on the chair, and I place my fingers on either temple. I close my eyes and look beyond myself inside Jay.

As I search around, suddenly a strange aura overcome my senses - the color is swirling between bright red and green. I concentrate on the colors and demand them to leave this young man.

They struggle to stay in place, but I am not having it. Little after little, I burn the colors away with my amethyst light.
