Chapter 133: Chapter 133 Are You Real?

Chase’s POV

"Hello, my son." The voice greets me, and when I turn around my eyes are threatening with rolling out of my head. Calor is howling in my head, not sure whether to be ecstatic or afraid.

"M.. Mo... Mom?" I stammer, as I fall to my knees. I recognize her from the pictures Berion has shown me over the years, and she is still just as beautiful as she is in them.

She smiles, stands from the bed she was sitting on, and walks to me.

"Chase, my darling boy, what have you done?" She asks, her voice stern and her eyes blazing. I shake my head not knowing what she is talking about.

"Nothing?" I defend, but she sits down on the floor with me. frёewebηovel.cѳm

"Yes, my darling, you are repeating a piece of faith that should have never been. You need to find Amber and rectify everything. You and Blaze were always meant to be her mates. You are brothers, my darling." I look at her disbelief coursing through every vein of my body.

"We are what?"

"I’m sorry, Chase. I never got to tell you this. When I found out I was pregnant, the doctor told me in confidence there were two - twins. You are Blaze. You were identical in the womb, but I knew Callus would never accept that. According to him, and a lot of the more old fashioned dragons here, twins were a curse. Another mouth feed. Many believed twins would turn a family into poverty, so they became forbidden in most of the Kingdoms. You may not know this, but the law was only annulled here when I was pregnant. I worked with Berion on my good days, and we came up with a solution together. I hid the papers, and I got your father to sing, without him knowing what he signed. He was furious with me afterward, but I was pregnant with his heir so he couldn’t do anything to me that wouldn’t hurt you." She sighs as a stray tear leaves her eyes.

"I told Berion about my situation, and we agreed it would be best if you and Blaze were separated before birth. I reached out to my old childhood friend, who was mateless at the time. She was a water dragon, and as the pregnancy came along it showed Blaze had adapted her water skills. He was born with balls of water swirling around him. My friend had found her mate while pregnant. He understood what she was doing was for me, and he accepted it with no questions asked. But there was a problem. He was not a dragon. He was a demon without his powers - making him good in all the ways possible. After delivering Blaze, Callus deemed them unworthy to live in the dragon lands and gave my friend a choice - her child or her mate. She, of course, chose her mate seeing as the child technically was mine." I shake my head.

"So, Blaze is my twin? We look nothing alike?" I say, going through all of the emotions all at once. My mother smiles.

"I wanted to keep you both, so I talked the King into keeping Blaze at the palace, but let him be brought up by the nannies. I looked after him as much as possible. Having a newborn myself it wasn’t suspicious."

"But you died in childbirth. My birth, mother." She shakes her head.

"I died the night your father discovered the truth about Blaze and cast him out of our home and lands, blaming it on you." She answers with a glint of rage in her eyes.

"So, you are dead?" I ask, not knowing what else to say to her.

"I am dead, yes. Selene had a favor to claim with someone who could get me here tonight. I needed to talk to you." I nod, not quite following, but internally grateful. I decided to surprise her as well, needing time to comprehend the things she told me.

’Blaze, where are you?’

’None of your damn business.’

’I need you in my room, ASAP! There is someone you need to meet.’ I ignore his rudeness, knowing he is absolutely outraged with me about Amber.

Less than a minute later there is a knock on the door, and when my mother looks confused at me, I smile at her.

Opening the door I reveal a very sour and sulky Blaze with a backpack on his shoulders.

"Going somewhere?" I ask with a laugh. It’s weird, but being told he is my long lost twin brother, born by another, to protect us both, makes a lot of sense. I don’t know why or how, but it does.

"Yes, away with MY mate! What do you want?" I furrow my eyebrows. Is Amber planning to leave? She can’t leave us. I need to rectify this immediately, after he meets our mother.

"Well, you can’t so that’s just too bad. I have someone here who wants to meet you." I told him.

"Who is it, and yes we can! You have no say in it whatsoever now that you are going to be engaged to that bimbo bitch." I roll my eyes at him, and stand aside. Mom stands from the floor, tears leaking from her eyes.

"Blaze!" She says, but he only stares blankly at her.

"Uhm. Hello. Who are you, if you mind me asking?" He says, confusion written all over his face.

"It’s a long story, my sweetheart. Please come in and sit down, we don’t have much time." He narrows his eyes at me, but does as she requests.

"Wait, wait, wait. So, you are saying that idiot face over there and I were brothers? Twins even. And you are our mother? What the actual fuck? I’m nothing like him, and I never want to be! He’s the reason our, or should I say; MY mate is planning to go back to her pack. Did he tell you she rejected him?" Blaze yells. His face is flushed, but I can’t fault him for anything.

"Blaze, I think you and I need to talk," I say, and proceed to tell him and our mother everything, hoping they’ll believe me and not hate me too much.
