Chapter 124: Chapter 124 Sleeping in Yours
Amber’s POV
Blaze shakes his head, as if to clear it.
"But that is not for this happy and sunny day to talk about. We just found each other, and would like to show you..." His head snaps to the water, and in a flash, I’m behind him, while he and Ezra have their entire concentration on the water. It seems calm enough, but the surface suddenly becomes uneasy, and small waves splash to the shore.
"I wonder if the dragons know they have Sirens inhabiting their waters?" Blaze ponders, lips puckered and one eyebrow raised.
"Nixie?" I ask, and he looks down at me.
"Water spirit. The Siren’s are females who are half fish and half human. In the water, they will have a tail and gills and on land, they will look like otherworldly women. The males are really called Tritons, but in this modern day, we just call them the merfolk. They can be helpful, but they can also be very dangerous." He explains, while keeping an eye on the unsettled water. The longer I look at the waves moving, the more I get the feeling it wants me and will not be satisfied until it gets me.
I move out of the arms of Blaze, and walk past Ezra towards the water. Ignis is humming in my head, rocking from side to side, almost in a trance. My focus is solely on the water, but a small part of me notices how Blaze tells Ezra to let me go - "They are calling to her, and I am here if anything happens. Water is my element, but it is her opposite. Let it play out, bro." He says, as I reach the edge of the water.
As soon as my feet touch the water, I can hear a song from below and the water calms down. As I walk further into the water, the melody becomes stronger and Ignis hums louder in my head. Some part of me realizes I’m humming as well, and then I hear someone gasp behind me. The part of me, following my mate and guardian on the shoreline, can hear Ezra whisper I am glowing. I wonder what I look like.
When the water reaches my lower back I stop. The melody from below has changed, and I sway with the water standing still and waiting. I look down to see a woman swimming towards me from the depths. This lake must be deeper than I first imagined.
The woman is singing under the water, and I hum with my wolf - together we create a beautiful melody of melancholy, longing, and sadness. I feel her in my soul, and as she reaches the surface I know this woman in my heart. She’s Princessa De Luca, the princess of all merfolk in the freshwater. She has been searching for me through years, trying to find allies to protect her people from poachers, demons and greedy upper worlders. Trying to stop the misunderstandings and superstition swirling around her people and their lives.
"Queen Amber of the witches and wolven shifters, it is truly a pleasure." She greets when she breaks the surface. Her skin is greenish, her ears pointy and her eyes almond shaped and deep yellow. On the side of her head gills are disappearing, and I find myself staring at her. She giggles.
"I am quite the sight, huh, your majesty." She teases and I blush.
"I’m so sorry, your highness, I didn’t mean any disrespect." She nods.
"I know, and you may call me Merida. I am here to discuss a treaty between our people, and I hope you and I can find common ground and be friends." She says before her eyes glide from me and to the shoreline. They widened before a sound of disbelief rattled through her throat. I look back to see Ezra has moved into the water, his eyes trained on the princess and his chest rising and falling rapidly.
"Sorry, Queen Amber, I must go now. Something has..." She says, but I stop her immediately. She is not going to abandon my guardian and eldest friend like this.
"Please, Princess Merida, I would like to invite you to stay with us and I’m afraid no will not do at all," I say politely, but in a tone, she knows not to refuse. Then I hear a splash, and something big is coming toward us. The Princess gasps, as she recoils a bit from the large beast below. I look down behind me and laugh so loud.
"Don’t worry, he’ll not hurt you," I reassure her, as the dragon breaks the surface in a dolphin jump, and reenters the water when gravity overtakes. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"It’s playing." She says, her mouth agape and her eyes showing disbelief. I raise an eyebrow.
"Should he not?" I ask, confused and amused at the same time. She shakes her head, following the dragon weaving through the water with elegance.
"The Water Dragon is as dangerous as they come. Spiteful, fickle, and moody - sometimes a helper of the creatures he should protect, sometimes the greatest enemy. But never have I or any of my people witnessed him play." She looks at me in awe. "You tamed him?!" She says with somewhat respect, but I shake my head.
"I did no such thing," I say before Loch decides to show up at my side, and grind his nose against my neck. I giggle at the sensation.
"You are magnificent!" I state, and the dragon rumbles in answer.
’Seeing you in my core element is the most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen!’ Blaze states, as Loch looks at the terrified Princess.
’She says you are somewhat a water bully!’ I accuse, and Loch grunts in a laugh.
’What did she say exactly?’ Blaze asks, amusement rolling from his mind-link. I stick my tongue out at him, focusing on the Princess once again.
"He will not hurt you, or any of your people ever again. You have my word." I say, as I turn around and start my way back to the shore. Ezra is looking more disgruntled than ever when I reach him, and I pat him on the shoulder.
"She’s your mate, isn’t she?" I ask, and he nods.
"She is going to reject me, isn’t she?" He asks back, and I shake my head.
"I will not allow that to happen to you, brother," I tell him and he sends me a grateful smile.
Both Loch and Merida enter land behind me, and when I turn around Blaze is walking towards me with a big smile, and Merida has legs and clothes on. My mouth drops, but I refrain from asking how she did that.
"We are going back to the castle, so our new guest can get a room and we can get talking. Also, Blaze you and Ezra also need rooms." I say, as we start walking. Merida and Ezra walk awkwardly beside each other behind me and Blaze, and I decide to let them figure this out themselves unless one of them asks for help.
"I don’t need a room, little moon. I’m sleeping in yours." Blaze states, and Eza growls in disapproval. Blaze looks over his shoulder. "As should the two of you, then maybe you’ll both get the stick out of each other’s asses." He states, and runs in a laugh as Ezra chases him. I shake my head, and lock arms with Merida.
"Children," I tell her and she laughs.
