Chapter 113: Chapter 113 Accept
Amber’s POV
Callus’s dragon snorts smoke, as he starts to walk back and forth and stares at me. I’m standing, beside a heavy breathing dragon mate, while not taking my eyes off the angry King in front of me.
After what seemed like hours, which was only like five minutes, Callus shifts to his human form. The young man gives him some clothes to put on. His face is sour, and I’m beginning to suspect it is a permanent state of it.
"You have some nerve to command me, girl!" He states while shaking his head.
"My name is Amber, not girl. And I don’t like your attitude." I answer, crossing my arms. I feel Chase shift beside me, and his arms snake around me while my body keeps him modest. A small corner of my mind registers that he is naked, standing up close to me. Ignis practically do somersaults in my head in sheer excitement.
"How dare you speak to the King that way, you peasant." The young man yells at me. I have yet to put the barrier down, so he can’t do anything else than give me a death stare.
"I speak to him as I please, and if you ever call me a peasant again I can’t promise you’ll see tomorrow. My wolf doesn’t tolerate imbeciles, and you are working on her last nerve." I tell him before sending a wave of heat at him. His eyes widen, and he steps back.
"Witch!" He screams while pointing a finger at me. As if that’s a big no no! Damn, he’s stupid.
"Big surprise, I am the next in line to be the witch Queen," I say with an eye roll. Chase laughs and squeezes my arms.
’Ignore my cousin, he’s an idiot.’ He says in my mind, amusement battling with something else. Something dark.
We stand there in silence for a while, staring at each other - having a new stand off. I don’t know what’s going on, but something tells me Chase and everyone else is having a silent conversation. His eyes are unfocused, and his body tense and relaxed on its own accord.
Patience has never been my strong suite, so when I feel I have waited long enough I interrupt the mind-link between Callus and Chase.
The discussion goes on between Chase and his father, out loud this time, which results in us moving toward the castle. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
They have agreed on giving me a trial for the next month or so, though I doubt I’ll stay the whole month if things do not change. Chase is sweet and attentive, he hasn’t left my side since the rough landing, but there is something inside me that still feels... Empty. As if I’m missing something important.
The castle is beautiful, if not a little outdated. It’s like walking into the past - the style of everything giving an ’old time’ vibe. Don’t get me wrong - the furniture and everything is luxurious and no doubt, expensive.
Then there is the increasing uneasiness inside me, like someone is watching me, but I can’t point them out. It sends chills down my spine.
"Are you okay? Cold? Come on, we’ll find something warmer for you." Chase says, while taking my hand. He has just shown me my room, which is opposite his. Despite his father’s protest, he insisted on me at least sleeping in a room close to his.
His father wanted me on the other end of the castle, and when I asked why he didn’t just lock me in the highest tower, his dry response was "Trust me, the thought is not unappealing to me."
Chase takes me to his room, where he finds a sweater for me to wear. I don’t have the heart to tell him I am not cold - I’m never cold, to be honest. Possibly because of my element being fire.
"Chase, can I ask you something?" I say while studying his room more closely.
"Of course, anything." He answers as he gives me the sweater. I smile. The possibility of him just wanting his scent all over me is higher than him actually thinking me to be cold. He knows I’m a fire elemental.
"What is your father’s aversion towards other species?" I ask, looking him in the eyes. I know it’s a bold move to be so forward, but I need answers.
"Oh, uhm. Well, it goes beyond my father, to be honest, but he is a very stubborn guy in that department. Eh. The other Kings are speaking about allowing other species into our bloodlines - but it’s still just talk." He says while avoiding my eyes. I nod to myself.
"But... You accept me?" I ask, my voice small. I want him to accept me, but not just to defy his father. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
"YES! I absolutely do! I accept every part of you, Amber. I have accepted you since the day you were born." He answers with detriment in his voice. He walks to me, putting his finger under my chin and lifting my head. Our eyes met - mine doubtful and his soft and sure.
"I was sent to the human realm in an attempt from my father to forget you, but what he didn’t know was; I went to a dragon witch before my department, who made the amulet letting me visit you in the dream world. That way I could still be with you, even if you didn’t know who I was."
"Why didn’t you tell me?" I ask. I have to know. I have wondered and dreamt of so many things through the years.
Before he can answer a low whistle sounds from my pocket, and Flick crawls out. She is not happy that I have seemingly forgotten about her.
"Well, hello there little one," Chase says in a low sweet voice and I laugh.
Way to blow the mood, Flick.
