Chapter 69: Stumbling to a Party of Five
Misho and Maia headed to a counter with the words, "Quest Confirmation".
He gave the receptionist the quest, and he took their Guild IDs. After that, he stamped on the quest paper and split it into two. He kept one and gave the other back to Misho.
"Thank you."
"Here is a map. It will be deducted from your quest rewards once you return," he said.
Misho and Maia left the Adventurer Guild. Once again, they were bombarded with clan members asking them to join them. They ignored them and followed the map.
Maia read their quest.
"It says here that we should pick 10 Mild Spring Herb."
Misho looked at the quest paper in her hand and saw an illustration of the plant there. It was a good illustration, but Misho didn’t think it would be easy to find it with just that.
"They are known to be in this location. Check it on the map, Misho."
Maia pointed at the address in the quest paper.
"That is south from here. In the Treegrass Forest," Misho said and showed her the map.
"Okay. We can go there through the south gate."
He and Maia walked south and passed several streets.
*Rumble~*
Misho stopped walking and awkwardly looked at Maia’s stomach.
"T-that wasn’t me!" Maia said in embarrassment.
"I’m hungry too."
*Rumble~*
Speak of the devil, Misho’s stomach also rumbled.
"Ahahaha!"
"Ahahaha!"
"We need to find this herb quick so we can eat," Misho said.
"Yes." Maia nodded her head solemnly.
He and Misho left the city through the south gate. Many caravans were coming in and arriving. It was surprising for them.
"There are so many players. I wonder if we will overtake the NPCs," Misho said as they walked.
"I’m curious how they aren’t suspicious about the influx of people," Maia said.
"Mm. That lady from Jufri’s Magic Store seemed really confused."
They walked for a dozen minutes and arrived in front of a forest. This forest was odd compared to what they had traveled through when they came to Sunrise City.
"The name suits it."
There were several meter-tall grasses that formed a forest. It almost seemed like a bamboo forest. It just didn’t have the long and hard body of bamboo.
Once inside, they immediately felt cooler.
*Jump* *Jump*
Maia heard something jumping and looked towards it. There was a plant slime jumping around aimlessly.
"There’s another slime."
Misho walked towards it.
The plant slime noticed them, and it bounced to him.
"It looks pretty cute," Maia said.
"Let’s kill it."
Misho stabbed it with his spear, and it popped. Its green juices splashed around it, and a green gem caught Misho’s eye.
He took it and gave it to Maia with a smile.
"Misho! I just said it was cute, and you killed it." Maia pouted.
"*Cough* I didn’t notice. Anyways, take this. We might be able to sell it for some money," Misho replied awkwardly.
Maia begrudgingly accepted it and put it in her pocket.
And so, the two of them continued onwards. They found several plants, but it wasn’t the herb they were looking for.
"What are you guys doing here?" a friendly male voice asked.
Misho and Maia turned around. They saw five people walking toward them.
"We took a Herb Gathering quest," Misho replied.
"Oh. That’s lame. Why don’t you follow us?" he asked.
"I guess, why not?" Misho agreed.
"My name is Vinguard, and I’m a Human. These guys and girls are my party members." freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"My name is Quarter."
Misho purposely omitted to say the latter part to avoid embarrassing himself. He fully understood that only Kiera understood the meaning of his player name.
"I’m Maisha."
A teenage-looking woman stepped out and introduced herself, "I’m PearChasm, a Succubus. Hehe."
She winked at Misho before walking back into the group.
Maia squinted her eyes and embraced Misho’s arm.
A man with a well-defined chin then stepped out, "The name is LaserMagnet, an Incubus."
Then the two others introduced themselves too, but they weren’t relevant. Misho and Maia didn’t find anything interesting about them. They were average at best. [AN: I have to do this unless you guys want to read people introducing themselves left and right.]
"What is the quest?" Misho asked Vinguard.
"Poison a Goblin nest with this."
Vinguard lifted his hand and showed them a small ball.
"That has poison inside?"
"Gas poison, to be exact. It will irritate the lining of their lungs and drown them on dry land," Vinguard explained with a slight smile on his face.
"That sounds easy. What is the reward?"
"20 Gold. It’s relatively easy since we are still Essence Lake-stage cultivators," Vinguard replied.
"I see."
Misho nodded his head in understanding.
"Follow me. It’s here."
Vinguard led the way, and they headed deeper into the forest.
"Wait!" Misho shouted to stop them.
"What’s wrong?"
Misho kneeled beside a plant and pulled it up from the ground.
"Maisha, it’s this, right?" Misho asked her with an excited smile on his face.
After looking around, they finally found one. It was very sparse and didn’t grow together.
"That’s the herb for your quest? It looks nice," Vinguard said.
"Mm. I can smell spring even though I’m not putting it directly against my nose," PearChasm said. freewebnovёl.ƈom
"Maia, hold it. I will carry the spear for you."
Misho gave her the herb, and he took her spear from her. He carried them both in his two hands.
"Spear, huh. Unfortunately, we don’t have weapons. Otherwise, it would be fun to spar," Vinguard muttered in dejection.
"Next time."
"Alright. Add me."
"Sure." Misho agreed.
He found the guy likable and added him.
"Your player name sounds like something I would order from Wcdondon."
Vinguard noticed it and smiled wryly. He found it amusing, to say the least.
"Please don’t laugh. I had enough people laughing at it," Misho said as he shook his head pleadingly.
"Yes, I get it. I will be your bro and keep it a secret from my party members."
"Ehh? I’m even more curious now that you said that, Vin!" PearChasm said in a pout.
