Chapter 48: Leaving Freewind Village

Vivien walked towards Misho. He was somewhat embarrassed because he had to rely on the two of them. It didn’t fit his personality at all.

"Thank you, QuarterPounder," Vivien said and slightly bowed.

"Remember your promise," Maia said in a threatening voice.

"Yes! The two of you will hunt me down if I don’t pay back the 30 Gold I owe," Vivien answered immediately.

He couldn’t help but remember Maia’s fireball spell. The thought of her attacking him with that was quite scary. He was nothing but powerless against it.

"Mm. Farewell, Uncle Gerald and Auntie Kea," Misho said and waved at the married couple.

"Don’t forget to visit us if you are passing the area," Gerald said as he waved back.

"Yes. We will visit again in the future," Misho replied and smiled.

Maia noticed Kea opening and closing her mouth as if she wanted to say something.

"Auntie Kea, do you want to say something?" Maia curiously asked.

"Nothing... I’m already married, so the two of you better marry soon!" Kea replied and quickly forced a smile on her face.

Maia was puzzled but didn’t think too much about her words. Instead, she became embarrassed because marrying Misho would be too hasty. They had only done it a few days ago.

"Hahahaha! Seeing you two kind of reminds me of my youth," Gerald laughed out loud.

Misho smiled wryly and turned around to leave. He tugged Maia, and she followed behind him while trying to avoid eye contact due to her embarrassment.

Vivien watched the pink atmosphere around the two and couldn’t help but feel sick. Becoming the third wheel was the worst feeling in the world.

The trio walked out of the village through the dried mud path that led north.

They soon found themselves at the edge of a forest. A man was waiting for them there.

"I will help you three get along with the merchants," Trepe said.

Seeing the village chief surprised the trio.

"Village Chief, thank you for the bother," Maia said as she lowered her head.

"It’s my pleasure. The three of you helped a lot. It’s only natural for me to help you guys out," Trepe replied and smiled.

"Does it take a while before they arrive?" Misho asked.

He looked around and found nothing except a grassy pathway leading deeper into the forest. It was big enough for a carriage to pass through. He assumed this was the path the merchant caravan would use.

"They should’ve already arrived much earlier. Don’t worry. This is normal. There are a lot of monsters in the forest that probably delayed them," Trepe patiently explained.

"What kind of monsters are there?" frёewebηovel.cѳm

Hearing about monsters in the forest piqued Misho’s curiosity. Both Maia and Vivien perked their ears up as they waited for Trepe’s response.

"Most of them are stray goblins. Sometimes you would encounter an orc, a forest wolf, and occasionally some slimes. There are also carnivorous plants that would gobble you up if you aren’t careful."

The trio’s eyes lit up in excitement. It was their first time learning more about these kinds of stuff.

"Do me a favor and kill every goblin you see," Trepe said and sinisterly grinned.

"S-Sure..." Misho nodded his head.

*Crack* *Shake*

The faint sounds of a carriage approaching sounded from their right. The four of them looked over and saw a long line of carriages approaching them from deep into the forest.

"They’re here."

With the confirmation from Trepe, the trio understood this was their ride.

The carriages were pulled by four large pigs each. They were unlike domesticated pigs from the real world. They had sharp fangs protruding from their mouths.

Instead of food, they looked more like apex predators.

A middle-aged man poked his head out of the window as the caravan stopped in front of them. In total, there were six carriages in convoy.

"Trepe, long time no see. What are you doing here? Isn’t it usually someone else waiting for us?" the middle-aged man asked.

Trepe nodded his head in greeting and replied, "I have these three who are looking for a ride."

"Oh? I thought you would order a lot of goods. Turns out my luck isn’t as good, huh," the middle-aged man joked.

"Hahaha! I’m broke."

After saying those words, Trepe subtly glanced at the trio. The middle-aged man widened his eyes and got some clues from his words.

"Three heroes, where do you want to go?" he asked.

"How did you know?" Misho asked in shock.

He didn’t see Trepe tell him, but he already knew they were the village’s heroes. It was spooky from his perspective.

"I know a lot of village chiefs. The one thing they all had in common was gifting a lot of gold when someone saves their village," he said with an amused smirk on his face.

"Ah!"

A light bulb lit up above Misho’s head. It made sense now that he thought about it. That was indeed the only reason a village chief could become broke.

"So where?"

"Sunrise City. Here is the money," Misho said and passed him a small bag of coins he had prepared.

The merchant took it and weighed it in his hand by moving it up and down. He then nodded his head in approvement.

"Nice. You can ride the last carriage. There are also others there. Get along because they are quite strong."

"Thank you."

Misho, Maia, and Vivien walked beside the carriages until they reached the end of the caravan. They noticed the huge size of these carriages. It could fit at least ten people side by side. Five on each left and right side. freewebnσvel.cøm

Seeing four pigs pull each carriage was eye-opening. It told him how powerful they actually were. He wondered how they were able to tame such creatures.

Misho pulled the curtain covering the back of the carriage. There were four other people inside.

They all stared at the three of them.

"Players?" a bulky black man squinted his eyes.

"Relax, Jabber. There are four of us," a large chested lady placed a hand on his arm.
