Chapter 340: How Did You Know?!

Before long, Tang Yin arrived outside a valley surrounded by a circle of mountains.

Even after waiting for a whole minute, nothing happened.

With a perplexed gaze, Tang Yin decided to enter the defensive outpost. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

After arriving at the gates of the defensive outposts, Tang Yin glared at the stationed guards. They merely looked at Tang Yin with scrutiny, without any intention of conducting an inspection.

"Ah, so it is Fellow Cultivator Tang. Senior Qian has been waiting for your return ever since you entered the Hectic Chasm Holy Land." A gentle voice drifted into Tang Yin’s head from inside the defensive outpost.

The guards opened the gates for Tang Yin as if they had just received an order to do so.

With a frown, Tang Yin walked through the gates and entered the defensive outpost, nobody stepped forward to stop him.

"Senior Qian is in the main building, he is waiting for you there." The gentle voice that had just spoken before resounded in Tang Yin’s mind once again.

’Mid-stage Principle Manipulation Realm.’ Tang Yin could judge the cultivation of the person that had just spoken to him with their divine sense.

Nevertheless, Tang Yin did not respond. He followed the guidance of that voice and headed towards the main building where Qian Zhong was waiting for him.

Although the valley where the defensive outpost was located was rather large, for Tang Yin, it was small. He had just come from the Hectic Chasm Holy Land after all. Everything that would normally seem large, now looked miniscule when compared to the Holy Land.

A few minutes later, after a good stroll, Tang Yin arrived before the main black building at the centre of the valley.

After a moment of thought, Tang Yin opened the door of the black building and entered.

"You’ve returned rather early Junior Brother, there is still over a year left." A vigorous, but old voice reverberated through the room once Tang Yin took his first step into the black building.

Perched upon a rather fancy chair was an elderly man, his long white hair flowing gracefully and battle scars telling tales of his adventurous past. Normally, Qian Zhong’s presence would send shivers down spines with his intimidating aura, but surprisingly, at this moment, he seemed to be channelling a softer side.

"Something happened, I couldn’t remain in the Hectic Chasm Holy Land for the remaining time." Tang Yin responded cooly, his mood was still a bit off. Not only because of what had happened in the Hectic Chasm Holy Land, but also because of the few hints he had picked up...

"Hm? What happened?" Qian Zhong displayed a surprised expression. Anything that could force Tang Yin to leave the Hectic Chasm Holy Land early was no small thing.

"Once I entered the Hectic Chasm Holy Land, I went..." Tang Yin spent a couple of minutes summarising his experience in the Hectic Chasm Holy Land.

Naturally, he omitted most of the sensitive parts regarding himself and everything regarding the Abyss Firmament. Once he reached the part of his encounter with the Abyss Dragon, he explained things in more detail. However, he still concealed his personal information.

"The Abyss Dragon?! That old lizard is supposed to be sleeping. Its last known appearance was several millennia ago." Qian Zhong almost jumped out of his seat as Tang Yin narrated his encounter with the Abyss Dragon. His eyes held unparalleled shock.

Qian Zhong completely disregarded the fact that Tang Yin had not divulged anything regarding himself. He knew that everyone had secrets that they did not wish to disclose. Therefore, he did not press Tang Yin for such information.

"But why me? Why did it awaken from its slumber just to attack me?" Tang Yin gnashed his teeth in frustration. Either the Abyss Dragon had targeted him specifically, or he had just happened to be in the Abyss Layer of the Hectic Chasm Holy Land at the wrong time.

Naturally, Tang Yin was more prone to the first reason. After all, what were the chances of the Abyss Dragon awakening from its slumber at the exact moment he was inside the Abyss Layer?

If the Abyss Dragon was active on a regular basis, things would be simple to explain. However, the Abyss Dragon only very rarely made an appearance in several millennia, if not for over ten thousand years! It was difficult to believe that it just happened to awaken during Tang Yin’s presence in the Abyss Layer.

"I’m not sure. Usually, when something like this happens, we wouldn’t know the specific details as there would be no survivors in the Abyss Layer. However, with Senior Tian’s power, Junior Brother was able to survive, which in turn provides us with more information." Qian Zhong was unable to come up with a reason for the Abyss Dragon’s sudden appearance. After all, such a thing did not happen every day and when it did happen, there were usually no survivors.

"Junior Brother, let’s discuss this on the way back." After racking his brains for a bit longer, Qian Zhong decided to put this matter aside for now.

Now that Tang Yin had returned from the Hectic Chasm Holy Land, it was time to return to the Moonlit River Sect. They could discuss this matter leisurely during the journey back.

"Sure." Tang Yin answered plainly before following Qian Zhong out of the black building.

Qian Zhong quickly informed the defensive outpost of his departure and left with Tang Yin in the Heavenly Lunar Chariot.

Nobody dared to inspect or halt Qian Zhong and Tang Yin. Not only was Qian Zhong a Law Domain Realm cultivator, but he was also an important member of the Twin Snake Clan. As for Tang Yin, his mere stance behind Qian Zhong was enough to deter anybody from attempting to do anything.

After leaving the area of the Hectic Chasm Holy Land and the defensive outposts surrounding it, the Heavenly Lunar Chariot sped off into the distance.

"So, tell me more about your encounter with the Abyss Dragon. Did you see its appearance and true body?" Qian Zhong enquired inside the Heavenly Lunar Chariot.

"No. The Abyss Dragon did not reveal its body. I was only able to see a pair of bloodthirsty crimson eyes before it attacked." Tang Yin replied. He was not lying, he truly did not witness the Abyss Dragon’s appearance.

"Interesting. Was there anybody else in the Abyss Layer?" Qian Zhong stroked his long white beard in deep thought.

"No. I was the only cultivator within the Abyss Layer." Tang Yin answered.

"Speaking of the Abyss Layer, its quite the feat being able to enter so deep into the Hectic Chasm Holy Land with only Mid-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivation." Qian Zhong spoke with appreciation and praise.

"Everyone has special methods to accomplish different feats. My special method just so happened to be useful in the Hectic Chasm Holy Land." Tang Yin merely spat out a load of crap to avoid Qian Zhong’s interest.

"Is that so?" Qian Zhong was clearly unconvinced, yet he did not pursue the matter any further. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Tang Yin’s expression remained indifferent, however, internally, his heart shook.

Without drawing any suspicion to himself, he calmly peered his eyes out of the Heavenly Lunar Chariot’s window. What he saw was an unfamiliar set of landscape and wilderness.

However, Tang Yin did not say anything. He merely continued to watch the changing view through the Heavenly Lunar Chariot’s window.

"Senior Brother, we’re going back to the Moonlit River Sect, right?" After a whole hour of talk with Qian Zhong and observing the view outside the Heavenly Lunar Chariot’s window, Tang Yin asked a rather precarious question.

Qian Zhong looked at Tang Yin with narrowed eyes, "Of course we’re returning to the Moonlit River Sect. Is there anywhere else you wish to go?" But his demeanour remained friendly, and he answered Tang Yin mildly.

"It looks like our course has already been chosen beforehand, why would my opinion matter?" Tang Yin spoke with a dark smile.

Qian Zhong’s expression changed slightly. "Well, it appear-"

BANG

Just as Qian Zhong was about to utter his final words, a breathtaking spectacle unfolded before their eyes, the resplendent Heavenly Lunar Chariot erupted into a magnificent explosion! Its celestial form shattered into a dazzling shower of fragments, scattering in every direction, leaving the meticulously carved Array Formations on the chariot in a state of serious damage!

In the heart of the explosion, two brilliant arcs of light burst forth, painting the sky with a mesmerizing display.

Among them, one arc glowed with an intense blackish-red hue, and amidst its radiant brilliance stood Tang Yin, his countenance grave and determined. His piercing gaze locked onto the other arc, a shimmering silver streak not too distant from his position.

From the silver arc emerged an enigmatic figure, and as the radiant glow receded, the true identity of the mysterious presence was revealed, it was none other than the seasoned mastermind himself, Qian Zhong!

With a wicked grin etched across his weathered face, he taunted, "HAHAHAHA!! How did you know?!"
