Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Standing Up for a Friend

They began walking away. Before leaving, Lin En leaned closer and whispered softly:

"Did you see the girl sitting in the middle? She is the princess of the Sand Empire... no wonder she is so terrifying. And the other two are daughters of powerful clans. We shouldn’t get involved with them."

Her tone was sad and helpless. Then she suddenly blinked and realized something.

"Oh! I forgot to ask your name!"

Yue Yue replied calmly, "Yue Yue."

"And... your clan?" Lin En asked.

"Xuan...Xuan Yue Yue."

Lin En paused. She thought deeply.

She had studied almost every noble clan across the four empires. She loved reading about aristocrats and high-ranking families... but she had never heard of any Xuan Clan.

Nor had she ever heard Yue Yue’s name.

That meant...

Yue Yue was just like her. Not from nobility or any powerful background.

Her face brightened with relief and happiness.

Lin En felt more and more certain that she and Yue Yue were meant to be friends. This thought made her even brighter and more cheerful. She stayed close to Yue Yue, almost clingy, because she had no friends on this strange planet.

All the other females already seemed to have someone with them.

Lin En did not want to be alone anymore. So she had already decided in her heart: she would make Yue Yue her friend.

Yue Yue walked beside her quietly. After a while, she asked calmly, "Do you know how many days this ritual will continue? And when can we go back?"

Lin En thought for a moment before replying.

"I think it will last more than ten days. But it really depends on the temple. Not all rituals have the same timing... so they may extend or shorten it."

Yue Yue nodded lightly and did not ask anything else.

Silence settled between them for a few steps.

Then Lin En suddenly spoke again.

"How did you get married so early? You still don’t know your fertility or spiritual compatibility. If you already chose your beast husband now... he will forever be your first beast husband."

Her tone grew serious.

"If you turn out to be a high-level female... you could have chosen a stronger beast husband. A powerful one. But now, you may lose that chance."

"Because all-powerful Orcs want to become first husband."

She looked worried. Yue Yue’s body stiffened, and she said in a cold tone. "I don’t care about any of that. My husband is perfect for me."

It seems with the female lead she really couldn’t speak normally; even her simple question looked doubtful in Yue Yue’s eyes.

Lin En’s mouth immediately shut. She realized Yue Yue truly meant it.

Instead of criticizing... she became curious.

What kind of man was he... to earn such loyalty?

She suddenly wanted to see him. When she has heard the commotion, she has only seen a tall silhouette but not the actual person.

Soon, another floating tray passed by, and they tasted a new treat. It was sweet and soft, and both of them smiled a little as they continued exploring the area together.

For a brief moment, they felt peaceful. But it didn’t last long.

A small group walked toward them, the princess from the Sand Empire and her followers.

One of the lackey females stepped forward arrogantly and snapped at Lin En:

"Why are you standing here? Move aside. The princess wants this viewing spot beside the Paradise Lake. Low-ranking females like you don’t deserve to stand here."

Her tone was full of disdain.

Lin En’s face darkened with anger...

...but the moment she heard the title Princess of the Sand Empire...

Her courage disappeared. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

She lowered her head and quickly stepped back, pulling Yue Yue with her.

Yue Yue’s eyes grew round. She remembered the story.

Lin En...the female lead had suffered a lot in her early days. She had been mocked and bullied because of her kind nature and simple background... until she met her first male lead.

The prince of the Sand Empire.

Yue Yue looked toward the princess. Jealousy burned in the princess’s eyes, even though she wore a proud, smug expression.

So this was the woman who would later suffer badly for bullying Lin En.

Yue Yue almost felt amused. Fate was already moving.

Lin En, however, was full of silent anger. She tried to leave calmly, but the lackey female suddenly shoved her hard.

Lin En stumbled forward and crashed against a sharp edge.

She hissed in pain. Her back stung. A small tear appeared in her clothes... and a thin line of blood slid across her skin.

She rushed to support Lin En.

The lackey female froze as Yue Yue lifted her head; her eyes were dangerous. Even though Yue Yue looks almost harmless, she still possesses the ferocity of the serpent clan.

A chill ran down the lackey’s spine.

Lin En stared at her injured hand in shock. Her voice trembled with anger.

"How could you push me like that? I am still a female. Even if I am low-ranking... you have no right to treat me this way!"

Her tone was steady, even though she was scared.

She was not weak, only helpless.

The lackey female clicked her tongue and tried to argue.

"I barely touched you. You fell on your own. I only asked you to move politely."

Yue Yue’s voice came out calm...but it instantly created a pin-drop silence.

"That is a lie."

Several females nearby stopped to watch.

Yue Yue helped Lin En stand straighter and turned toward the lackey.

"We will not let this pass. Let’s call the temple servant. I want a proper explanation and justice for this injury."

The lackey girl paled.

The princess of the Sand Empire remained seated, watching coldly with a lazy smile, enjoying the scene.

Her gaze burned with irritation as she looked at Yue Yue.

Another meddling nobody, she thought. Just like that annoying girl Lin En.

But Yue Yue did not step back.

Her eyes stayed firm. After all, what she hated was this type of bullying. She also has a friend back in her world, a little sparrow; it was just a little beast man barely ten years old.

But he was injured by a female so heavily that when she found him, he had already passed away. Her eyes suddenly turned red from anger.

And looking at the injured Lin En, she felt the same rage inside her body.
