Chapter 62: Chapter 62: He is unworthy of her!

Yue Yue was beyond frustrated. Seeing Han Soi’s rogue smile only made her feel more like a small, angry kitten being teased by a giant lion.

"Put me down!" she screamed, kicking her legs as Han Soi suddenly swooped in and lifted her by the waist.

"I don’t want to talk! You better listen to me, Han Soi! Do you think I want your charity? If you love someone else, go and wait for her! Don’t think I’ll lack men in my life! I’ll go to the Temple and find ten mates just to spite you!"

Han Soi’s smile didn’t reach his eyes this time. The mention of other men sent a cold, sharp spike of jealousy through his veins.

He realized that if he didn’t shut her infuriating mouth now, she would keep saying heartless words that would drive him insane.

Why would he wait for anyone else when his entire world was currently screaming in his arms?

"You talk too much, Yue Yue," he growled, his voice low and dangerous.

Before she could spit out another insult, he dipped his head and captured her lips in a kiss that was anything but gentle. It was a desperate claim that silenced her mid-breath.

Yue Yue’s protest died in her throat. Her hands, which had been hitting his chest, instinctively moved up to grip his shoulders for support as the world began to tilt.

She felt his large hands slide down from her waist, guiding her legs to wrap firmly around his hips, pulling her into a position so intimate she could feel every muscle in his powerful body.

The kiss changed from a battle to a deep, swirling abyss. Han Soi walked forward without breaking the contact, his boots heavy on the floor, until her back hit the closed bedroom door, pinning her between his body and the solid door.

"Say it again," he whispered against her lips, his breath hot and ragged. "Tell me again how you’ll find other men."

Yue Yue’s mind was a mess. She wanted to be stubborn, she wanted to keep fighting, but her body was melting into his. She could feel his heart thudding against her chest...a wild, fast rhythm that matched her own.

"I... I hate you," she whimpered, though her arms were tightening around his neck, pulling him even closer.

"Liar," Han Soi murmured. He bit her lower lip gently, making her gasp, before burying his face in the crook of her neck.

"You’re not going anywhere. Not to another man. I’m going to make sure that by the time we leave this room, your soul is so tangled with mine that you won’t even remember how to say another man’s name."

Yue Yue, pinned against the cold surface of the door, was still struggling for the last remnants of her revenge.

"I’m just an abandoned, pitiful snake to you!" she cried out, her voice trembling with a mix of fury.

"I’m nothing in your eyes. You are the heir of a powerful clan, a Duke, a War God... you should go marry someone with a high title! Someone who matches your status! Why keep a useless thing like me?" freewebnσvel.cøm

But Han Soi didn’t back away. Instead, he surged forward, pressing his large, muscular frame flush against her small, flustered body.

Yue Yue’s eyes widened to the size of saucers. She felt a scorching, undeniable heat pressing against her stomach, a physical manifestation of the hunger he had been suppressing for weeks.

"What...what are you doing?" she stuttered, her face turning a shade of red so deep it looked like she might burst.

Han Soi didn’t answer with words at first. He groaned, a low, pained sound, and buried his face in the crook of her neck. He stayed there, breathing heavily, his body trembling with the effort of not losing control.

"Yue Yue... why do you think like this?" he whispered, his voice sounding wrecked and hollow.

"My title... my power... what does any of that hold against you? To me, you are like the moon. You are so bright, so untouchable. I have spent every night just admiring you from afar, afraid to even breathe too close to you."

His voice became hoarse, dipping into a tone of pure agony. "I am afraid to taint you, Yue Yue. I am afraid that if I touch you, I will ruin your innocence. You don’t understand... I am not a good person."

The faint crimson glow that had been burning in his eyes slowly faded...swallowed under exhaustion and self-loathing.

He stood there, trembling.

A monster who didn’t know how to hold tenderness.

How could he dare to touch her... with hands stained in blood?

He had slaughtered countless lives...innocent or otherwise. Power. Control. Survival. That was all his world had ever been. The empire feared him. Even his own father, who is the master of the Winged Serpent Clan, could not chain him.

He was more terrifying than the man who raised him.

Brothers, rivals, warriors... he had cut them down without hesitation.

There was nothing human left in him except the way his heart trembled when it came to her.

What kind of creature had he become?

His breath shook... not from desire, but from shame.

"I am filthy," he whispered, his voice breaking... the confession tearing from the deepest parts of him. "My life has been killing... conquering... bathing in blood. I have become something twisted... something the world fears."

His fingers hovered near her cheek...then stopped halfway...trembling violently.

"I coaxed you into marrying me... but I cannot force myself to touch you."

His voice was barely audible now.

"...Because I am unworthy."

He exhaled helplessly.

"My Yue Yue... you are pure."

"You deserve a prince."

His lips curved into the faintest, saddest smile.

"And I... am no prince."

He pressed his forehead against hers, closing his eyes as though begging the world to stop spinning, as though every breath near her hurt.

Yet he could not step away.

Because she was the only light his darkness had ever known.
