Chapter 233: Chapter 233: A Silent Departure
The next morning, the light shone brightly through the dome of the sea empire.
Yue Yue woke up feeling very happy. She had slept well knowing that Xing Luoye was finally out of danger. She quickly dressed and went to the kitchen to get a bowl of warm, nutritious soup. She wanted to be there when he woke up.
She walked to his room with a smile on her face. She pushed the heavy doors open quietly, expecting to see him resting peacefully on the bed. "Luoye? I brought you some breakfast," she said softly.
But there was no answer. The room was very quiet. Yue Yue walked toward the bed, and her heart suddenly dropped.
The silk blankets were folded neatly, but the bed was empty.
She reached out and touched the mattress. It was not warm at all. It was extremely cold, as if no one had been lying there for many hours.
"Luoye?" she called out louder, her voice trembling. She checked the bathroom, thinking he might be washing up. It was empty.
She checked behind the large decorative curtains and even inside the wardrobe. He was nowhere to be found.
Yue Yue felt a wave of panic wash over her. She ran out of the room and looked at the two guards standing at the door.
"Where is he? Did you see Lord Xing Luoye go anywhere?" she demanded.
The guards looked at each other in total confusion. They shook their heads quickly.
"No, Lady Yue. Lord Xing Luoye never came out of this room. We have been standing here all night. No one has passed through these doors." ƒreewebɳovel.com
Yue Yue’s eyes widened. "That is impossible! He isn’t in there!"
She ran back into the room and looked around frantically. Her gaze fell on the small side table. Yesterday, the antidote bottle had been sitting there. Now, the table was completely bare. The bottle was gone.
She sat down on the edge of the cold bed, her mind racing. "Where did he go?" she whispered to herself.
Then, a thought struck her. Her face clenched with worry. "Did he go to save Xing Luoguang?"
She remembered how much Xing Luoye cared for his brother. Now that his own poison was gone and his strength was back, he probably couldn’t wait another second.
He must have used a teleportation scroll to leave.
But then, her shoulders slumped.
A feeling of rejection and sadness filled her chest. "Why didn’t he take me?" she mumbled.
"Why did he go alone? He is still recovering. He should have at least said goodbye."
She tried to think of reasons to make herself feel better. Maybe he didn’t want her to be in danger because of the pregnancy.
She tried to find many different excuses for him, but her heart still felt heavy and lonely.
She stood up slowly and walked out of the room. She didn’t look at the guards. Her head was down, and her shoulders were slumped in a very sad way. She felt like he had left her behind.
The guards watched her walk away toward her own wing. They were very worried. They peeked inside the room and saw for themselves that it was truly empty. Their eyes widened in terror.
"How did he leave?" one guard whispered.
"How did we not sense any fluctuation in the air? We didn’t even feel his aura leave the room!"
They knew they were in big trouble. If the Third Prince found out they lost his most important patient, they would be punished.
One of the guards immediately turned and ran toward the crown prince’s wing to find Cang Yuze.
"Prince! Prince!" the guard shouted as he ran. "Lord Xing Luoye is nowhere to be found! He has vanished from his room, and Lady Yue is very upset!"
While the guards panicked, Yue Yue reached her own room and sat by the window. She looked out at the blue water of the empire.
She was happy he was healthy enough to move, but she couldn’t stop the tears from stinging her eyes. She just wanted to be by his side.
Cang Yuze, Feng Yanshen, and Han Soi arrived at Yue Yue’s room only a few minutes after hearing the news.
They found her sitting by the window, her shoulders shaking. When she looked up at them, her eyes were bright red and puffy, looking just like the eyes of a little rabbit.
It looked like she had been bullied by the entire world. As soon as she saw them, she tried to wipe her tears away quickly, but more kept falling.
Feng Yanshen’s expression immediately froze. Seeing her cry made his heart feel like it was being squeezed by a cold hand.
He didn’t wait for permission before he stepped forward and pulled her into a very tight embrace. He wrapped his arms around her entire body, trying to console her.
"What are you crying for?" Feng Yanshen asked, his voice filled with annoyance.
"If that man has run away, then let him be! It is not like he was ever going to stay with us forever anyway."
Yue Yue looked up at him with a quivering mouth. Feng Yanshen’s eyes were dark and angry. "You might think I am being cruel, but that is just how those men from that race are," he said. He almost blurted out that just like him, the lover of the first queen also ran away.
"They are proud and stubborn. They like to run away and do things alone. How could they tolerate our presence? A man like him would never want to share a female with us."
Han Soi’s eyes widened in shock at Feng Yanshen’s blunt words. He saw that Yue Yue’s tears were threatening to spill over even more. She looked heartbroken by the idea that Xing Luoye didn’t want to be near her.
Han Soi’s expression twisted with anger. He stepped forward and practically dragged Feng Yanshen away from Yue Yue. "Be quiet!" Han Soi growled at the High Priest.
He turned back to Yue Yue and spoke much more softly. "Yue Yue, do not listen to Feng Yanshen’s nonsense. He is just saying that because he does not get along with Xing Luoye. They have always been rivals."
Han Soi took her hand and squeezed it gently. "We will find him. Maybe he has gone to handle a small matter and will return very soon. He wouldn’t leave his cub behind."
Yue Yue nodded slowly, trying to stop her sobbing. "Yeah... maybe he will return back," she whispered, though she still felt very unsure.
Feng Yanshen only snorted like a stubborn bird. He looked away, but inside, he was actually boiling with rage. He wasn’t really mad at Yue Yue; he was mad that the "damn bastard"
Xing Luoye had dared to make his female cry like this. He thought to himself that if he ever encountered that man again, he would skin him alive for being so heartless.
Cang Yuze also stepped closer and took her other hand. He felt very guilty because he was the one who made the medicine that gave Xing Luoye the strength to leave.
"Yue Yue, don’t worry," Cang Yuze said with a determined look. "He cannot have gone very far in his condition. I will send out every guard in the Sea Empire to search the waters. I will find him for you."
Yue Yue looked at the three men standing around her. Even though they were all very different, she could feel that they truly cared for her.
She took a deep breath and leaned her head against Han Soi’s chest, clutching Xiao Bai tightly in her arms. She hoped with all her heart that Xing Luoye was just on a short trip and wasn’t leaving her forever.
