Chapter 186: Chapter 186: I Choose You, No Matter What

An entire week passed by in a blur of peace.

Life in Dune City slowly returned to its usual rhythm.

Every morning, Yue Yue woke up and joined the other females in the farm house or the communal kitchen.

She spent her afternoons laughing with the children in the square, watching them play in the warm sand. It was ordinary and calm, just like her life had been before the intruder arrived.

If it weren’t for the fact that Xing Luoguang was often busy and away during the day, she would have believed the boy with the purple hair was just a bad dream that had faded with the sunrise.

Xing Luoguang came to her room every evening without fail. They would sit together and talk about their day, or simply stay silent, enjoying the comfort of each other’s company.

"The boy can no longer threaten us," Xing Luoguang had reassured her many times.

"The city is safe. Our sensors show no unknown ships near the planet. There is no danger, Yue Yue."

Yue Yue wanted to believe him with all her heart. And as the days went by, the fear in her chest began to melt away.

That evening, they sat together on the open balcony of her room.

The night breeze was cool and gentle, carrying the scent of the desert. Below them, the distant lights of Dune City looked like fallen stars.

Yue Yue leaned her head against his broad chest, listening to the steady, strong beat of his heart. She reached out and playfully laced her small fingers through his long, calloused ones.

"Xing Luoguang..." she whispered softly. "I’m so happy that you believed me."

His expression softened instantly. He tilted his head down, looking at her with eyes full of warmth and affection.

"How could I not believe my female?" he said, his voice a low rumble. "You are everything to me. If a stranger could create a misunderstanding between us, then our love wouldn’t be worth much, would it?"

He leaned down and pressed a tender kiss to her forehead.

"Don’t think about it anymore. It was just a misunderstanding. Even if that boy really is your brother, it doesn’t change who you are to me. I trust you."

A bright, beautiful smile bloomed on Yue Yue’s lips. She felt a surge of love for him that she couldn’t contain. She lifted her head and pressed her lips against his.

The kiss started gently but quickly deepened as they clung to each other. Their breathing became heavy, and their hearts raced in sync. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

When they finally pulled apart, Yue Yue snuggled back into his arms, feeling safer than she ever had before. Xing Luoguang was always so patient and caring. She loved him very much.

As his fingers moved through her pastel purple hair, Yue Yue didn’t notice that his hands were trembling slightly. Xing Luoguang swallowed hard, his throat feeling tight.

"Yue Yue..." he started, his voice a bit tense. "Would you like to marry me?"

She blinked, her eyes wide with surprise.

He continued quickly, the words rushing out of him. "Would you take me as your beast husband?"

Yue Yue looked up at him. His eyes were hazy and filled with a strange moisture, as if he were holding back tears. He looked so hopeful and nervous that it made her heart ache.

"Are you really sure?" she asked softly. "Should we wait a little longer?"

For a split second, something dark and desperate flashed through Xing Luoguang’s eyes. We don’t have much time, he thought, though he didn’t dare say it aloud.

He knew the Empire was out there. He knew that when they finally found a way through the sand, they would come for her.

He was terrified that they would be ripped apart. He wanted a bond...a sacred, unbreakable link that would keep their souls connected no matter where she was taken.

He quickly hid his fear behind a loving smile, but his eyes were still swirling with emotion. Yue Yue didn’t understand the storm in his heart; she only saw his love for her.

She giggled softly and reached up to touch his cheek. "Why not? I’ve been waiting for this. You’re the one who took so long to propose, you silly man."

Xing Luoguang froze. His mind went blank for a second. "Yue Yue... you... you agree?"

She laughed again, her eyes shining. "Yes. I agree."

The next second, he pulled her into a hug so tight she could barely breathe. His body was shaking with relief. He buried his face in her hair, breathing in her scent as if he were trying to memorize it for a lifetime.

"You have no idea how happy you’ve made me," he whispered hoarsely.

Yue Yue hugged him back, smiling blissfully. She didn’t know about the approaching Empire or the fear he was hiding. All she knew was that she loved this man, and tonight, she had promised to be his forever.

Xing Luoguang suddenly broke the hug, his movements quick and purposeful.

Yue Yue had no time to react before he stood up from the huge velvety sofa where they had been leaning together. He reached out, his large hand wrapping gently around her waist, and helped her stand up as well.

Yue Yue blinked in confusion, her heart still fluttering from the proposal. "Where are we going?" she asked, her voice small.

Xing Luoguang only smiled, a look of deep determination in his eyes. "You just have to follow me."

Before she could ask again, he pulled her flush against his side. The next second, a powerful sound filled the room as two huge black wings burst out from his back.

Yue Yue gasped. Her eyes widened in pure shock. It was the first time she had seen his wings fully extended like this. They were enormous and pure black, each feather shimmering faintly under the moonlight like dark silk.

Before she could say a word, he bent his knees and shot into the sky.
