Chapter 142: Chapter 142: Viallin No. 3
This was the first time she was seeing his real face. Before, he had worn a robe and a cloth covering his features. Now everything was exposed, and his sharp features were even more intimidating up close.
She blinked at him.
"Who are you?" she asked without thinking.
The man’s expression turned slightly strange, as if he was looking at an idiot.
But he didn’t answer her question.
Instead, he glanced at the fruit in her hand and then at the kitchen behind her.
"What are you doing here?" he asked coldly.
Yue Yue frowned.
"What?" she said. "Didn’t you tell me to eat whatever I want from the kitchen? Now are you going to snatch food from a female too?"
The man pressed his lips together.
That wasn’t his intention. He had only felt that something was off, so he came to check.
And all he saw was a woman eating fruit like nothing was wrong. Maybe he was just being overly cautious.
After a short pause, he simply nodded.
"Do whatever you want," he said.
Then he stepped forward, about to pass her.
Yue Yue’s heart jumped. If he goes in there, he might see the plant! Without thinking, she reached out and grabbed his wrist.
The man immediately stopped.
He lowered his gaze to the soft hand around his wrist, his expression turning strange again.
For a split second, he almost shook her off.
But for some reason, he didn’t. He just looked at her, waiting.
Yue Yue let out a small, nervous laugh.
"Um... can you talk to me for a bit?" she said. "I feel scared being alone in such a big place."
The man’s expression didn’t change.
"Go find my brother," he said quietly. "He would be happy to entertain you."
He started to pull his hand back. But Yue Yue was faster.
She quickly popped the rest of the fruit into her mouth, her cheeks puffing out as she chewed. Then she grabbed his wrist with both hands.
"Please, no!" she mumbled, still chewing. "That man talks too much. I want someone who can listen to me."
She tightened her grip and began dragging him down the corridor.
The man frowned slightly.
This small woman was trying to drag him somewhere. It should have been easy to shake her off. One slight movement would be enough.
But he didn’t move.
Instead, he simply let her pull him along, his cold eyes fixed on the back of her head.
Yue Yue glanced back at him.
He was so tall that she had to tilt her head up to meet his gaze. His expression was still cold, but he didn’t resist.
Good. He didn’t notice the plant.
She secretly sighed in relief.
"Come on," she said softly. "Just for a bit. I’m really bored."
She kept pulling him until they reached the soft white couch in the room she had seen earlier.
She pushed him gently.
"Sit."
The man didn’t argue. He simply sat down, his posture straight and composed.
Yue Yue sat beside him, still holding his wrist.
Only after a few seconds did she realize what she was doing. Her eyes dropped to his arm.
His wrist was thick and strong. Under her fingers, she could feel the warmth of his skin and the faint movement of his pulse.
Her cheeks grew slightly warm. She quickly let go.
"Sorry," she muttered.
The man looked at her silently. The room fell quiet. Yue Yue fidgeted with the edge of her sleeve.
Then she peeked at him again.
Up close, he looked even more handsome. His features were sharp, and his expression remained calm and distant, like a mountain covered in snow.
She suddenly felt a little awkward.
"So..." she said. "What’s your name?"
He didn’t answer.
She leaned forward slightly, trying to catch his eyes.
"Do you always look this scary? Or is it just for me?"
Still no response. She puffed her cheeks.
"You know, if you keep making that face, no woman will ever want to marry you."
The man finally spoke.
"I’m not interested."
His voice was low and steady.
Yue Yue blinked.
"Not interested in marriage?"
"Not interested in your opinion."
She stared at him for a second. Then she burst into a small laugh.
"You’re really cold," she said. "Like a block of ice."
He didn’t react. She leaned back against the couch, looking at the ceiling.
"But... at least you’re quieter than your brother," she said. "So I’ll tolerate you."
The man sat beside her in silence, his cyan blue eyes calm and unreadable.
Yue Yue sat on the couch beside the cold man, her hands resting stiffly on her lap.
The silence between them felt heavy. He was not looking towards her, nor did he speak a single word. It was like sitting beside a statue.
She secretly glanced at him.
How am I supposed to distract him? If he goes back to the kitchen, he’ll definitely notice the plant...
Just as she was thinking that, a familiar mechanical chime sounded inside her head.
[Ding!]
[Congratulations, Host. You have gained +1 affection from Villain No. 3.]
Yue Yue’s eyes widened. Villain... number three? Her expression froze.
Wait.
Last time, when she met the white-robed man, the system had said he was Villain No. 2.
Her eyes slowly slid toward the man sitting beside her.
Villain... number three. Her lips twitched. Damn it... does that mean both brothers are villains?
She looked at him again, more carefully this time.
He didn’t look like a villain at all.
The white-robed one? Yes. That man had a strange personality. Too narcissistic. Too talkative. Too unpredictable. He looked exactly like the kind of person who would do something outrageous just for fun. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
But this one?
He was quiet, calm, and old. Almost indifferent to everything.
He looked like the type who wouldn’t even react if someone died in front of him. He would probably just blink once... and then continue walking.
She couldn’t imagine him as a villain. But then again... she also couldn’t judge people by their faces.
