Chapter 109: Chapter 109: The Destructive High Priest
Han Soi finally tightened his grip on Yue Yue’s hand and looked at Wei Han with a face like stone. "Fine," he growled, his voice echoing with a dangerous edge.
"I will let her go. But I am not leaving her side for even a second. If you want her help, I go where she goes."
Wei Han let out a breath he had been holding for a long time. He immediately bowed deeply, his forehead nearly touching the grass.
"Thank you, Young Duke. Thank you, Lady Yue Yue. Please, follow me quickly. There is no time to lose."
Wei Han led them toward the very back of the temple complex, past the gardens and into the most restricted area of the Inner Sanctum.
This was the High Priest’s personal space, a place where the air usually felt holy and calm. But as they approached, the atmosphere changed completely.
They could feel a high-frequency energy that made the skin crawl. As they got closer, a massive shockwave of core energy hit them.
It was so powerful that it felt like trying to walk through a wall of solid lead. The pressure was literally suffocating.
Wei Han’s expression turned deathly pale. His legs began to shake, and he had to lean against a stone pillar just to stay upright.
After all, Wei Han was only an A-level beastman. To an A-level, the spiritual pressure of a collapsing high level Orc was like being crushed by a mountain.
He was on the verge of losing consciousness, his breathing coming in ragged, painful gasps.
As they reached the entrance of the final courtyard, they found a group of temple servants and guards huddled together.
All of them were in a miserable state. Some were already unconscious on the floor, while others were clutching their heads and groaning in agony.
The sheer weight of the High Priest’s aura was tearing through their mental defenses. freewёbnoνel.com
Han Soi’s expression darkened. He was an SSS-level warrior, so he could withstand the pressure, but even he felt his heart racing and his blood boiling under the influence of such a violent aura.
He immediately turned his head to look at Yue Yue, his eyes filled with worry.
However, he breathed a massive sigh of relief when he saw her. Yue Yue looked perfectly fine.
The terrifying aura that was crushing the men around them didn’t seem to affect her at all.
In this world, the aggressive spiritual pressure of a male was designed to intimidate and suppress other males.
For a female...especially a high-ranking S+++ female...this energy was like a warm breeze. It couldn’t harm her. Her spiritual sea was built to absorb and harmonize this kind of energy, not be destroyed by it.
"I’m okay, Han Soi," Yue Yue said, her voice steady despite the chaos. "It doesn’t hurt me."
Han Soi nodded, though his heart was still heavy. "Just stay behind me. I only hope the High Priest has enough sanity left to let you treat him. If he tries to harm you physically, I will kill him myself."
They pushed through the final set of heavy doors and entered the High Priest’s private hall. The scene inside was one of complete and utter destruction.
The beautiful silk hangings were shredded into ribbons. The stone pillars were cracked, and the expensive furniture had been blasted into splinters.
It looked like a hurricane had been trapped inside the room. In the center of the destruction, the High Priest was no longer in his human form.
Feng Yanshen had fully transformed into his beast form...a massive, majestic White Phoenix.
The bird was breathtakingly beautiful but terrifying. Its feathers were like polished silver, but they were currently ruffled and glowing with a violent, dark red light.
The Phoenix was circling the high ceiling of the hall, letting out ear-piercing shrieks that shattered the remaining glass in the windows.
It was tearing at the walls with its talons and blasting bursts of holy fire at everything in sight. It was a scene of pure, divine madness.
Yue Yue stood frozen at the entrance. "Feng Yanshen!" she called out, her voice barely audible over the sound of the destruction.
Suddenly, the giant White Phoenix stopped mid-air. Its head snapped around, its glowing red eyes locking onto the group at the door.
The chaotic shrieking stopped instantly, and the hall fell into a terrifying silence.
Everyone held their breath. Wei Han and the other servants thought that perhaps, by some miracle, the sight of Yue Yue had made the High Priest regain a bit of his senses.
Han Soi moved closer to Yue Yue, his hand ready to pull out his artifact, his body coiled like a spring with tension.
For a few seconds, the Phoenix just hovered there, its massive wings beating slowly, creating a wind that whipped Yue Yue’s hair around her face.
Then, the horror began.
Instead of landing peacefully, the White Phoenix let out a high-pitched shriek that shook the very foundation of the temple.
It leaped down from the ceiling with the speed of a falling star. Before Han Soi could even blink or draw his artifact, the Phoenix’s massive, silver claws reached out.
With a movement too fast for the human eye to follow, the Phoenix clutched Yue Yue around her waist. It didn’t crush her, but its grip was firm and inescapable.
"Yue Yue!" Han Soi screamed, his voice filled with pure agony.
Yue Yue let out a cry of shock as she felt herself being lifted off the ground. "Han Soi!"
In a burst of a moment, the White Phoenix soared back into the sky, crashing through the high, domed roof of the sanctuary.
Shards of glass and stone rained down on the servants below.
In a matter of seconds, the Phoenix was hundreds of feet in the air, flying toward the distant, high mountains of the Forbidden Zone.
"No! Bring her back!" Han Soi roared.
Without hesitating, Han Soi’s body began to shift and grow. In a flash, he transformed into his massive Winged Serpent form. He beat his powerful wings and launched himself through the hole in the roof, desperate to chase them.
He pushed his flight speed to the absolute limit, his serpent heart pounding with rage and fear. But a Winged Serpent, no matter how strong, could never compare to the natural flight speed of a Phoenix...the king of the skies.
Han Soi watched in helpless desperation as the silver speck in the distance grew smaller and smaller.
The High Priest was flying with a manic, desperate energy, carrying Yue Yue away from the world, away from the temple, and away from any threat.
Han Soi gritted his teeth until they bled, his violet serpent eyes fixed on the horizon where they had disappeared.
He didn’t care if his wings gave out or if his spiritual sea collapsed next...he was going to find her, even if he had to tear the mountains apart with his bare claws.
The wind howled in Yue Yue’s ears as the White Phoenix flew higher and higher.
She tries to open her eyes and look at the surroundings, but it is impossible.
