Chapter 89: Sneaking In
Theodore had a general understanding of the people of the Cataclysm Brotherhood. He was prepared with an all-black suit and a mask that partially covered his face and only showed a pair of eyes.
Theodore only carried a sling bag to help him carry small weapons he might need later.
After all his preparations were complete, Theodore stepped out of his apartment. Theodore deliberately went out in the middle of the night to avoid the people in his apartment building.
Because this mission was entirely secret, Theodore wanted to make sure everyone knew what he was doing at this time. Theodore used his car due to the distance between his current location and the north gate.
"Looks like I have to find a place to hide this car later," Theodore muttered while playing with the car keys in his hand.
When he reached the basement, Theodore quickened his pace toward his car. When he was about to open his car door, he felt someone else in the basement.
Theodore looked through the reflection of his windshield and saw a woman who had just arrived in the basement. For a moment, Theodore was surprised when he saw the reflection of a shadowy figure in his car glass; it was Chelsea.
"Why is she here?" Theodore muttered while frowning.
Fortunately, Theodore partially covered his face so he could be sure that Chelsea would not recognize him now. So Theodore no longer bothered to greet Chelsea. He immediately got into his car.
Not wanting to linger in the basement, Theodore immediately drove his car out of the basement and towards the north gate area.
The road to the west gate was very quiet. Only a few soldiers guarded several locations. Fortunately, the soldiers did not stop Theodore’s car.
After almost arriving at the north gate, Theodore decided to hide his car in a quiet alley that was wide enough and put his car there.
Theodore then got out of his car and left the alley. Fortunately, Theodore knew where the Cataclysm Brotherhood headquarters was, so he headed straight there.
For this time, Theodore only wanted to scout the place, but he wouldn’t be silent if he got to kill one of them.
The Cataclysm Brotherhood’s headquarters was very remote. It was on the outskirts of the border of the western gate area, near the forest. Theodore could tell that it looked like a warehouse.
At first, Theodore was just lurking around the warehouse, but he realized that there were many guards around the place. They weren’t guarding with bare hands; Theodore could see they were holding guns.
"Where did they get guns from? Again, there are many holding such weapons," Theodore muttered while frowning in confusion.
Theodore honestly did not expect that these people would have guns. Theodore suspected that they stole the guns from the soldiers they killed in the riot yesterday.
Not satisfied with snooping from a distance, Theodore decided to get closer to the warehouse and listen to the people’s conversations. Who knows, Theodore could gain additional information from these conversations.
"Big Brother has been very aggressive lately. Aren’t we forbidden from committing extreme crimes by the chairman?"
"It seems like the chairman’s situation is critical; that’s why Big Brother panicked and wanted to gather more people."
"But, aren’t you afraid that the military will take action against us if it continues like this?"
The conversation’s voice sounded even fainter as they were already walking away from Theodore’s current position. Seeing that the guards had moved away, Theodore took the opportunity to sneak into the warehouse.
The first thing Theodore felt when he entered the warehouse was darkness. He did not expect it to be this dark inside. Even the reflected moonlight from outside couldn’t enter.
Not knowing what to do next because he couldn’t see anything, Theodore just stayed there, waiting for a while.
Because it was so quiet and there was no sound, Theodore finally heard a sound again, but it wasn’t the sound of someone talking.
It was the sound of a metal door creaking open, and finally, a light could be seen from the direction where the metal door opened. Theodore was finally able to see again. He found that the metal door was under the floor.
Theodore tried to get closer to the metal door. He intended to go inside, but he was afraid of getting caught because he didn’t know what was inside.
It was possible that Theodore would be caught immediately when he entered, but he was curious about what was inside.
"How do I get in there? Should I wait for someone to come out of there again?" Theodore muttered while thinking. freewēbnoveℓ.com
"Will the system catch me if I go in there?" Theodore finally asked his system.
For a while, Theodore waited for an answer from the system. He was a little afraid that the system didn’t have an answer to his question either.
[From the system’s search results, the host will not be discovered when entering the metal door. So the host should go in there right away since no one else is here]
"Then I’ll take advantage of it!" Theodore grinned happily when he heard the system’s answer.
After Theodore took a moment to look around and confirmed that no one else was there, he opened the metal door.
Theodore poked his head inside the metal door to see what was inside. He could see a long deserted hallway there. Fortunately, there were no people, so Theodore went straight inside.
With only a long hallway like this, it would be straightforward for Theodore to be caught infiltrating this place. Theodore was just lucky this time because there was no one there.
"System, I’ll get caught if the place is like this!" Theodore slightly complained about the system’s previous remark.
[There are no living creatures here, so the system concluded that the host would not be caught if he entered this place]
Theodore rolled his eyes lazily and ignored the system’s words. He immediately walked down the long hallway, and at the end of the hallway, he found a closed room.
Then, Theodore tried to open the door of the room to see what was in there. Fortunately, the door was not locked, so Theodore could open it.
When Theodore opened the room door, the first thing he noticed was a powerful stench. Theodore immediately covered his nose, and he reflexively slammed the door hard.
"Damn it! What’s in there that smells like this?!" Theodore almost spit out his entire dinner because of the smell.
