Chapter 52: We Have to Rush!
The rest of the day, Theodore and the others spent their time checking half of the second floor and found a lot of medical supplies and equipment that could help develop their base later.
Since it was already late, they decided to gather in the second-floor lobby. Fortunately, there was a large counter they could use as a hiding place. And also a place they could use to scout the area around them.
Theodore also thought they needed to pay attention to the movements of the giant zombie in the laboratory corridor. Indeed, the zombie did not make any movements at this time, but they could not just calm down because he could move at any time.
For fear of the giant zombie making a move, they divided their group into three and took turns doing the night watch. Fortunately, Theodore was on the second watch team, so for now, he could rest.
Theodore was happy to rest himself by sleeping, not wanting to waste his time, even though he couldn’t restefully in an open space like this.
"Feel free to wake me up if anything happens," Theodore said before deciding to sleep.
Theodore decided to sleep while hugging his sword. Sleeping in a dangerous place like this made him anxious and unable to relinquish his sword.
. . .
When Theodore’s watch time arrived for the night watch, nothing happened. When one of the soldiers who got the first watch woke Theodore up, it was not difficult for him to wake up because he was still half awake and not fully asleep.
"Good job. Is there any movement from the zombies?" Theodore asked the soldier who had woken him up.
"No movement so far."
"Alright, you can sleep." Carrying his sword, Theodore walked to the front of the counter to start his night watch.
Tonight, Theodore was on guard with Roderick; at least he could rest easy because he was working with someone pretty good. Theodore didn’t expect the giant zombie to do anything tonight, at least let them all rest.
"Hey, there’s something I wanted to ask you," Theodore said, starting the conversation with Roderick.
Roderick frowned when he heard Theodore’s words, not expecting him to start a conversation.
Without waiting for Roderick’s reply, Theodore immediately opened his voice to ask, "Did you receive any news from the other group? I was slightly surprised because I didn’t hear anything around the hospital," Theodore explained his suspicions.
Not really expecting Theodore to be worried about this matter, Roderick sighed because he himself had not been able to contact the other group since this afternoon. Roderick had a means of communication with Victor and the other two group leaders. freewebnøvel.com
But the problem was that Roderick couldn’t contact all of them, even though he lost contact with Victor, the Captain. Unlike the other two groups, Roderick’s last communication with Victor was this afternoon.
"Since noon, I’ve been unable to contact the other two group leaders. Meanwhile, I received the last information this afternoon from the Captain." Roderick’s gaze looked distant and anxious because he did not know what happened to his other friends.
"Then, what was the last information you got from Victor?" Theodore was not too surprised by what Roderick said.
"Lastly, he said he would go up to the second floor after finishing the first floor. But until now, we still haven’t met them," Roderick explained with a rough sigh.
"They might have trouble getting up to the second floor. We’ll just have to wait until tomorrow morning," Theodore replied, still positive that it would be difficult for the others to do so.
They were also quite difficult to reach the second floor, so Theodore was not too concerned about why the group Victor led had not yet reached it.
The first hour of their night watch still did not happen, only the silence that enveloped them accompanied by the dim light of the moonlight tonight.
Finally, there was a reasonably large explosion from the first floor, which immediately surprised everyone on the second floor.
Even Theodore got up from the floor, and when he heard the sound of the explosion, he immediately turned to Roderick.
"Wake up the others, I’ll see what’s happening!" After saying that, Theodore moved quickly toward the source of the explosion.
Theodore walked towards the main escalator connecting the main lobby on the first floor. He didn’t rush down to see what was happening; he just sat crouched on the edge of the second-floor divider, peering down to see what was happening downstairs.
When he saw what was happening downstairs, Theodore’s eyes rounded in shock when he saw who was making a scene tonight. Yes, they were the group led by Victor. Theodore could see that they were being chased by a large wave of zombies.
"Well, it’s only natural that they use explosives. There are so many zombies chasing them," Theodore muttered while shaking his head.
Even Theodore thought it would be very difficult to fight with that many zombies. So, Theodore returned to his group and told them what he had seen.
After returning with his group members, Theodore immediately told Roderick and the others what he saw.
"We have to help them; if they fall, we won’t be able to defeat the giant zombies," said Roderick, immediately thinking of saving his Captain’s group.
Although Theodore agreed with Roderick’s suggestion, they would also have difficulty helping Victor’s group because the number of zombies chasing them was very large.
"Are you sure?" Theodore glanced at Roderick unconvincingly. It would be very troublesome for them to help Victor’s group.
"There’s no other choice; we’ll go help them." Roderick also firmly stated that they would move right now.
Theodore, seeing Roderick’s confident gaze, realized that the man had already made up his mind that they would go to help Victor’s group.
Theodore could only agree and follow Roderick’s words. They immediately grabbed their weapons and rushed to the first floor to assist.
"Everyone, let’s go!" Roderick led them to the main escalator, which would take them directly to the first-floor lobby.
Theodore also pointed out where he last saw Victor’s group. Fortunately, they were still not far away and still struggling to deal with the zombies.
"I’ll go ahead, as always; watch my back!" Theodore took his sword, ran to the front of Victor’s army, and started doing his job.
Because their group was used to working together, Roderick led his men to support Theodore from behind.
Seeing the arrival of reinforcements from other groups, Victor and his group could breathe a sigh of relief for now. At least they had a greater chance of facing this large wave of zombies.
