Chapter 172: Is It Work?
Since the door to the basement required a particular technique, Madeline again had one of her men open it. Since they would leave soon after, they did it inside the car.
While the metal door was being opened, Theodore and the other three began to use a magic scroll that could shield their car so they could calmly pass through the streets full of zombies.
"No need to worry, we can do it!" Theodore calmed the others standing not far from him while holding the magic scroll.
"Are you sure this will work?" Madeline was one of the people holding the magic scroll with Theodore.
"Of course," Theodore replied, nodding his head confidently.
After that, the other two people began calming down and followed Theodore’s lead to activate the magic scroll in their hands.
Slowly, a white light began to glow from the magic scroll and drifted to envelop the three cars there; over time, the light faded and finally disappeared.
Madeline and her men turned to Theodore, wondering if they had successfully used the magic scroll.
"Did it work?" Madeline voiced her curiosity.
"Yes, the effect has been applied to our cars," Theodore replied, nodding his head after he had checked the status of their three cars with the system.
"Thank goodness! I thought it failed," Madeline replied while letting out a sigh of relief. Honestly,. She was worried because she had never used a magic scroll like this.
"Everyone get into the car! The door has been successfully opened." Madeline’s men opened the door and told everyone to enter the car.
Hearing that, everyone got into their respective cars, except that Cassian now moved to join the truck carrying the goods.
This time, Theodore, in his car, led the way. As Theodore drove his car out from behind the creaking open metal door, they were greeted by the growls of the zombies, who immediately ran towards their car.
"Damn, there are so many of them!" Theodore cursed as he was immediately greeted with a horde of zombies.
Luckily, they had used the magic scroll; otherwise, Theodore was sure these zombies would have devoured them.
Theodore could see that the magic scroll protected their car; the zombies’ attacks couldn’t touch it. From inside, Theodore and the others only felt a small shock.
"Don’t be afraid. Open the window and start killing them with arrows!" Theodore also tried to give courage to Chelsea and Neville, whose role was to attack the zombies.
"But I’m scared! They’re too close!" Neville, who was in the back seat, was already shaking when he saw many zombies starting to surround their car.
"You have to be brave this time, Neville. We won’t go any further if these zombies aren’t killed," Theodore replied, trying to calm down Neville, who was very scared.
Chelsea tried to be brave this time because she couldn’t just stay silent. She began to lower her window and aim her arrow at the zombies that surrounded her window.
And the miraculous thing really happened: the zombie could not hit Chelsea, who had opened the window. Not only that, but the arrow that Chelsea shot hit the zombie’s head and knocked back several zombies around her.
"It turns out they really can’t penetrate inside!" Chelsea grinned happily as her attack succeeded, and she was still safe.
"Chelsea, try using ice or fire arrows; we. We must open a path!" Theodore had to concentrate on driving, so he couldn’t see precisely what Chelsea had done.
After seeing what Chelsea had done, Neville’s worries slowly diminished. He tried to encourage himself to lower the window and attack the zombies with his crossbow.
"Can I use a special arrow, sis?" Neville quietly asked Theodore.
"Just use it. I intentionally gave you more arrows to pave the way for the others." Theodore quickly answered Neville’s question.
"Alright, I’ll give it a try." Finally, Neville ventured down to try to face these zombies.
Neville also took the ice magic arrow that was nearby. With his hands still shaking, Neville drew his crossbow, equipped with the special arrows he aimed at his side.
The ice magic arrow quickly hit the zombie horde, and instantly, a group of zombies froze after being hit by the ice magic arrow. Neville, who shot the arrow, was shocked when he saw the output of the special arrow.
Theodore decided to open the roof of his car, which could open. He intended to tell Neville to shoot using the ice magic arrow so they could open the road quickly.
"Neville, go upstairs and shoot the zombies in front. Only this time, after you shoot with the ice arrow, continue with the fire arrow so they can die instantly," Theodore explained quickly. They didn’t have much time right now.
Swallowing harshly, Neville nodded in understanding and began to poke his head out through the car’s open roof.
Neville put the ice arrow on his crossbow and started aiming at the zombies in the area in front of their car. The arrow shot out quickly, so Neville promptly grabbed a fire arrow.
After the ice arrow hit the zombie horde, Neville immediately shot the fire arrow towards the large chunk of ice zombie in front of it.
The ice zombie immediately caught fire, widening the road in front of Theodore’s, and immediately took advantage of the situation to drive his vehicle quickly.
Neville and Chelsea did the same thing, but the difference was that she used ordinary arrows or spread arrows to reduce the zombies that surrounded their car.
When Theodore’s car managed to walk, the car behind could also move forward. And as Theodore had said earlier, the streets were indeed filled with zombies, just not as many as they had encountered in front of the iron door of the dungeon.
Since the situation had changed, Neville only needed to shoot a regular arrow or a spread arrow just to shoot the zombies blocking the road in front of his car.
Until now, their journey has been going smoothly, especially with the protection of the magic scroll, so their journey can be as smooth as this.
Even Neville and the others only need to shoot arrows occasionally because zombies prefer to attack from the side rather than the front. Even so, Theodore still asked the other cars to be careful.
In addition, Theodore also reminded the others to renew their magic scrolls every 4 hours. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"If we continue like this tomorrow night, we can reach the base," Theodore said with relief when he saw their smooth journey.
"Hopefully, the area around the base isn’t crowded; if it is, it will be difficult for us to get into the base," Chelsea replied grimly when she remembered that the area around the base was filled with zombies.
