Chapter 168: Can We Go Outside?

When Theodore set foot on the first floor, only Cassian and Chelsea were there. They asked why he returned alone without Neville.

Because Theodore still didn’t want to explain about the mana crystal, so he chose not to tell the two of them the truth.

"Neville was sleeping in the car. It seems he was disturbed by the noise of the zombies outside." Theodore scratched his cheek lightly while explaining Neville’s current whereabouts.

"Apparently so, it’s appropriate that he looked very disturbed before," Chelsea replied, nodding in understanding.

"Oh yes, Madeline wants you to go upstairs immediately," Cassian said while pointing towards the second floor where Madeline and the others were already there.

"Alright, I’ll be there first then." Theodore began to walk up the stairs to the second floor.

The second floor was previously very dark, but now it was much brighter than the first floor. Theodore could also see quite clearly because the windows here still stood firmly without being blocked by anything.

Theodore could already hear Madeline’s voice booming in the room when he had just set foot on the second floor. Theodore frowned in wonder at what was happening in this place. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

"Did something bad happen to make you scream like that?" Theodore walked over to Madeline, who was standing by the large window.

"Look down there. There are still many zombies on the streets. How long do we have to stay in this place?" Madeline stomped her foot on the floor hard. They had to return to the base immediately, but things had become like this.

"It looks like it will take about a day or two for the zombies to spread to other areas," Theodore said as he glanced at the street below.

Zombies were still passing by on the street; there were not just a few but many. They were also actively chasing anything that moved and made a sound.

"The captain will be angry if we stay on the road like this for too long," Madeline said, feeling very disturbed now. She was even seen punching the wall between the windows with force. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"If you force your way out right now, we won’t be able to reach the base safely," Theodore shot back over his shoulder indifferently.

Seeing that Madeline had nothing more to say to him, Theodore slowly stepped away, intending to return to the first floor.

"Where are you going?" Madeline turned to Theodore and gave him a sharp look.

"Downstairs. You don’t need me here anymore anyway," Theodore replied, looking at Madeline confusedly.

"We’ve been standing guard here since earlier. Isn’t it about time you took our place?" Madeline chuckled while raising her chin high and looking at Theodore.

"Gosh, why didn’t you say so earlier. I thought you called me here just to hear your ramblings," Theodore replied with a lazy sigh as he heard Madeline’s words.

Madeline did not care about Theodore’s words and preferred to turn around to stare at her sleepy-looking men.

"You guys go downstairs; I’ll monitor the situation from here with him," Madeline explained while pointing at Theodore standing behind her.

"Then we’ll rest first. We’ll be back to replace you later, Boss!" Madeline’s four men breathed a sigh of relief that they could finally rest.

The four walked downstairs to rest without waiting long, leaving only Theodore and Madeline alone.

While Madeline chatted with her men, Theodore glanced around to find something he could sit on.

From the interior, Theodore guessed that the second floor was used to welcome VIP guests to this bank, so the sofas or chairs were quite luxurious. Even so, the zombies damaged some of the furniture.

Theodore finally pulled out a single sofa and dragged it near the window to monitor the situation outside while relaxing. Theodore needed to rest somehow.

Seeing Theodore’s actions, Madeline could only shake her head but still stepped towards Theodore while dragging the other sofa.

"Do you think they’ll spread soon?" While seating herself, Madeline glanced at Theodore briefly.

"I think so. If they’re still there in three days, it looks like we’ll have to force them to open the way; like you said, we can’t hide in this place forever," Theodore explained while looking down.

"Can we do that? We have very little ammunition left now." Madeline was actually worried about this because their arsenal was already depleted.

"It will be difficult for us to defeat all those zombies. We still need ammunition to avoid the zombies on the road and at the base gate," Theodore replied, rubbing his chin in thought.

A sigh was heard from Madeline. They had to think about this. After all, they needed more ammunition to deal with the zombies along their journey back to the base.

Theodore also considered giving the others swords, but swords would only be practical if used while driving a car. They still needed a long-range weapon to keep the zombies from their vehicle.

"Should we make arrows?" Theodore turned to Madeline, who was next to him.

"Arrows?" Madeline looked at Theodore strangely; how could they make arrows?

"Yes, that way, we can replace your firearms. If not, we can make a blowgun," Theodore explained excitedly; it was evident that he was excited.

"The problem is how can we make it. Are you stupid?!" Madeline gave Theodore a disgusted look. She didn’t expect him to be this stupid.

"You’re the fool. Cassian can manipulate metal. I’m sure he can make a simple arrow or blowgun from the iron rods we got." Theodore glared back at Madeline, not accepting being stared at like that by Madeline.

After that, Madeline fell silent. She did not think about this. How could Madeline forget about Cassian’s power? After thinking about this, the smile on her face began to widen.

When Theodore saw Madeline’s smile, he was immediately creeped out. Het. He was not sure what she was, that king, but he could be sure that it was not something good.

"I’m sure you can monitor alone here, I have something to do downstairs!" With quick steps, Madeline left Theodore and descended the stairs to the first floor.

"I hope Cassian is alright," Theodore muttered as he stared at Madeline’s departure.

Since he was alone there, Theodore finally decided to talk to the system to kill his boredom.

"System, are you there?" Theodore called out to his system.

[Does the host need anything from the system?]

"It’s a good thing you’re there. I wonder if these zombies will spread soon? I and the others need to get back to base," Theodore said, asking for the system’s opinion.

[Unfortunately, the system detected that they will remain in this area. No matter how there is a large wave of zombies entering the City A area, every street in City A has this number of zombies right now]

Theodore was surprised by the system’s explanation. If this is the case, they must crashing this crowd of zombies to get back to the base.
