Chapter 167: Let’s Find The Crystal
When they arrived at the basement, Theodore could hear Neville sighing; he knew Neville was uncomfortable upstairs. He didn’t know why Neville looked uneasy, but Theodore could see it clearly on his face. fгeewebnovёl.com
"You look very uncomfortable up there. Did you hear something that bothered you?" Theodore, who was walking hand in hand with Neville, finally decided to ask.
"It’s safe to say so. I can hear the sound of people outside dying and slowly turning into zombies," Neville explained with a pale face.
"No wonder your face looks so uncomfortable," Theodore replied, nodding to understand Neville’s inner struggle.
"At least when I got into this place, there were fewer noises." Neville looked relieved when he said this as if he were grateful that Theodore had asked him to come here.
"You can’t be relieved just yet, boy," Theodore smirked as he saw Neville, thinking they would just relax in the basement.
Neville turned to Theodore in confusion, not understanding why he said that. Neville wondered if there was anything else they could do in this place?
"What do you want to do in this place? There are only zombie corpses here," Neville said as he frowned, curious about what Theodore wanted to do here.
"Then come with me." Theodore began to walk deeper into the room, whose floor was full of zombie corpses.
Neville couldn’t help but follow Theodore’s footsteps, his face frowning slightly as he had to walk past the zombie corpses scattered on the white floor that had turned greenish black.
Neville honestly didn’t understand why Theodore wanted to explore this room again; he thought he came down here to get something from their car or check on the condition of their luggage truck.
But Neville could see from Theodore’s gesture that his assumptions were wrong. He still couldn’t guess what he wanted to do in this place.
"Don’t you want to explain what we should do now?" Finally unable to stand it, Neville opened his voice again to ask Theodore why they had come here.
Then, suddenly, Neville could see Theodore crouching among the zombie corpses scattered on the floor. He frowned in confusion, not understanding what Theodore was doing there.
When Neville wanted to speak up again, he decided against it because he heard Theodore’s voice not long after.
"This is the one I was looking for. For now, I hope you can keep this a secret," Theodore said with a happy grin, showing a small pure crystal in his hand.
"What’s that?" Seeing the small crystal made Neville curious. He slowly approached Theodore to see the small object more clearly.
Recognizing Neville’s curiosity, Theodore placed the small mana crystal onto Neville’s palm.
"You can call it a mana crystal. I haven’t said anything about it to the others, so I hope you’ll keep your mouth shut," Theodore said, slowly patting Neville’s shoulder.
Feeling the pat, Neville swallowed harshly. He could feel that Theodore was threatening him at the moment.
Neville quickly understood what he had to do; no matter what happened, he must not say anything he did here to anyone else, or else Theodore could do something terrible to him.
"Take it easy, I’m not one to talk nonsense!" Neville, with an awkward smile, answered Theodore’s words quickly.
"I know you’re reliable." Theodore nodded his head with a smile on his face.
"Then, among these zombie corpses is a zombie that will drop this crystal. I want you to help me collect it," Theodore explained later.
"You just want me to collect the crystal?" Neville didn’t expect Theodore to just want him to collect the crystal. He thought he wanted to experiment on his body with the suspicious crystal.
Theodore nodded, "That’s enough talk. Now hurry up and help me!" He waved his hand to signal Neville to start his work.
With a sour face, Neville did what Theodore had asked him to do. Neville was quite troubled because he had to look for the small crystal in the pile of zombie corpses that already smelled bad.
. . .
Before you knew it, two hours had passed, and you could see Neville slumped with a sour face against the wall near the stairs leading upstairs. Theodore sat not far from Neville, counting the crystals he had found.
"Oh my God, this is amazing! Look at us getting over 30 crystals from this place!" Theodore smiled brightly and could even be seen laughing as he looked at the rows of crystals he and Neville had collected.
"Are you that happy? What’s the point of the crystals?" Neville still didn’t understand why Theodore wanted to collect the crystals.
Neville thought the crystals could be dangerous because they were dropped by zombies; maybe they could become zombies because of the crystals. That’s why he was actually quite tense while collecting the crystals.
"It’s hard to explain. It would be easier to show it in person. Now, are you tired, and do you feel that it would be difficult for you to activate your powers right now?" Theodore looked straight at Neville with serious eyes.
Being stared at like that made Neville feel nervous, but he still responded by nodding.
Seeing that response, Theodore threw one of the crystals to Neville and said, "Use the crystal. You will understand why I collected it," Theodore explained later.
"Are you sure this is safe? I won’t turn into a zombie, right?" Of course, Neville was still quite skeptical about the crystal.
"Take it easy, I can guarantee it’s safe," Theodore replied, nodding confidently.
Seeing Theodore’s confidence, Neville thought that it wouldn’t hurt for him to try using crystal. Theodore guided Neville on how to use the crystal, and it didn’t take long for Neville to understand.
Neville slowly opened his eyes after successfully using the mana crystal, and he could feel that his hearing became more precise and sharper, like when he was in his peak state.
But since it was still chaos outside, Neville had to cover his ears to block his super-sharp hearing.
"The noise outside is really bothering me!" Neville closed his eyes as he began to feel his headache and heard the sounds that made him uncomfortable.
Theodore quickly realized that his decision to make Neville try using the current mana crystal could have been better. To minimize the pain Neville felt, he decided to hit him unconscious.
"This is the only way I could think of. At least he won’t hear the sound if he passes out," Theodore sighed.
Unable to leave Neville there, Theodore carried Neville’s unconscious body to the car and took an earplug for the winter in Neville’s ear.
"I think this is enough." Theodore then stepped away from the car. He had to go back upstairs to see what was happening outside.
