Chapter 155: The New One
Overnight, they took turns on night watch to make sure no zombies infiltrated their hideout. This morning, Theodore came out of their hideout and started looking for a car they could use.
"It’s because of them that I now have to look for a usable car," Theodore muttered.
"What did you say?"
From behind came the cold voice of a woman staring intently at Theodore. Theodore, who heard that, looked back and saw Madeline standing there.
"Honestly, our car could be damaged because you won’t listen to what Neville and I have to say," Theodore replied, shrugging his shoulders indifferently, then continuing his steps again. freёwebnoѵel.com
Madeline quickened her pace to catch up with Theodore, "How can I trust you right away. Especially since I’m leading this mission," Madeline retorted, still with her arrogant self.
Theodore rolled his eyes when he heard her words. He realized that Madeline would not just admit her mistake, let alone admit that she was wrong.
"Are you and your group hurt?" Theodore decided to change the topic of their conversation. It was too dark last night, so he could not see their condition.
"No one is hurt, just exhausted. There were too many zombies surrounding the car, and we spent a lot of bullets because of that," Madeline explained seriously. She was a little unwilling to spend that many bullets. freewebnovel.cσ๓
For some reason, Theodore glanced at Madeline and shook his head, even though they wouldn’t have lost so many bullets if they had listened to her words in vain.
"Don’t look at me like that!" Madeline glared at Theodore, who was glancing at her sarcastically.
"My advice is to save the remaining bullets as best you can. From what Neville told me the zombies in the warehouse we’re going to are very dangerous, I hope you can think about my words." Theodore was not sure if Madeline would listen to his words this time.
"I’ll think about it. More importantly, we need to find a vehicle that we can use," Madeline replied seriously.
"There aren’t many vehicles around here. It’s better if we go back; you can spread out with your members to search different areas. I’ll take Neville with me," Theodore explained, inviting Madeline to return to their hiding place.
Madeline agreed, and they turned around to return to their hiding place. When they returned, Theodore could see that the others were already awake and that the atmosphere inside was very awkward.
Even Theodore could see Neville’s face was very tense at the moment. He was sitting in the corner, and his gaze looked blank. Theodore realized that Neville was really uncomfortable with Madeline’s men.
"It turns out you’re awake. Come with me outside, we’ll look for a car outside," Theodore said, calling Neville, who just stayed where he was without saying anything.
Upon hearing Theodore’s voice, Neville immediately raised his head and looked relieved when he saw Theodore. Neville quickly got up from his position and followed Theodore.
"Are we leaving now?" Neville quickly asked; he really couldn’t stand being in there.
"Yes. We need to leave as soon as possible, so we better start looking for a car from now on," Theodore nodded and led Neville out of the room.
Theodore also let Madeline discuss this matter with her group; he had no intention of interfering with their business, either.
After Theodore and Neville exited the hideout and walked quite a distance, Neville breathed a sigh of relief, and his face no longer looked tense.
"Oh my! I can finally breathe," Neville said as he rubbed his chest in relief.
"I can see you’re very uncomfortable being in the same room with them," Theodore replied with a quiet chuckle.
"Why didn’t you ask me out earlier?" Neville shuddered at the thought of having to be in the same room as those people Madeline had brought.
"You were still sleeping. Never mind about them; we need to find a vehicle now. If possible, use your powers to find a vehicle strong enough to break through the zombies," Theodore said. Theodore then explained what they should do now.
"Leave that to me." Neville smiled happily and started using his powers.
While Theodore followed where Neville went, he was there to look after the boy since he couldn’t fight. Of course, there were still some zombies roaming the streets.
That’s why Theodore was there to guard Neville from the zombies; not only that, but he also looked around the abandoned cars on the streets.
For about an hour, they wandered the streets looking for vehicles. Theodore couldn’t rely too much on the cars on the roads. They were mainly broken and unusable.
Just as Theodore was thinking of choosing one of the damaged cars, he saw Neville stop walking and saw his eyes fixed on a building that had collapsed entirely.
"Why are you staring at that building?" The curious Theodore immediately asked Neville.
"Can you check the ruins over there?" Neville, with a flat face, asked Theodore to check the ruins.
Although he was unsure if there would be a vehicle they could use there, Theodore still did what Neville asked him to. Theodore and Neville walked towards the ruins.
Before trying to check what was inside the ruins, Theodore again turned to Neville, who was behind him.
"Are you sure you want me to see what’s inside these ruins?" Theodore just wanted to make sure.
"Yes. From what I can see from my hearing, there’s a perfectly good car in there," Neville said as he nodded his head.
It was with a heavy heart that Theodore finally stepped up to look at the ruins. But Theodore stopped his steps, summoned the Aetherius dagger he had bought at the system store, and lent it to Neville.
"Use this dagger if a zombie attacks you. You don’t need to worry, this dagger is very sharp, you just need to swing it and it will kill the zombies for you," Theodore explained later.
Before Neville could say anything about the dagger, Theodore had already turned around and started climbing the ruins of the building, which made it impossible for Theodore to see what was inside.
Theodore could see that the building was small; a. A rough guess was that it only had three levels. The first and second floors of the building had been destroyed, leaving only the third floor visible.
Theodore decided to check what was on the 3rd floor of the building. He still didn’t need help to guess what the building actually was.
It didn’t take much effort for Theodore to completely destroy the large window in the building. After smashing the window, Theodore quickly entered.
And that’s when Theodore realized what the building was: "It’s a showroom! No wonder Neville insisted that this place could help," Theodore! He grinned happily when he realized the problem was that the cars inside this building had already fallen to the lower floors, and some were also hanging. Theodore could not step carelessly in there.
If Theodore had misstepped once, there was a possibility that he would be buried alive inside this building.
