Chapter 128: Should We Go Back
While waiting for Cassian and the others to return to the ground floor, Theodore and the others stayed in their car. Theodore wanted to use this time to talk about his plan not to join Cassian’s group after this.
"How do you feel after traveling outside the base like this?" To start their conversation, Theodore asked them what they thought about their trip this time.
"It was actually quite fun. But it’s not fun to be out for too long," Roxanne replied while thinking about her feelings during this trip.
"That’s right, I miss the base. Honestly, I miss my soft bed in the apartment," Geoffrey said with a stupid laugh.
"Is that so? Should we go back now?" Theodore also tried to elicit opinions on whether they wanted to return to the base.
Roxanne and Geoffrey looked at Theodore strangely; they didn’t think Theodore would offer them this option. They thought Theodore would take them to follow Cassian and his group after they left this building.
"There’s no way you’re going to let us return to base this quickly," Geoffrey said, waving his hand and laughing at Theodore.
Sitting next to Theodore, Roxanne cleared her throat and nodded in agreement with Geoffrey’s words.
Theodore rolled his eyes lazily when Roxanne and Geoffrey were getting such reactions. He didn’t think they would think that way about him. Even though Theodore also wanted to go home and relax in his apartment.
"I’m not lying! If you guys agree to go back to base, I’ll talk to Cassian about going back first," Theodore explained with an annoyed look.
Still shocked by Theodore’s words, Roxanne and Geoffrey looked at each other for a while as if communicating with their gazes.
"Then let’s go back to base! It seems like we’ve travelled enough this time," Roxanne said excitedly; before Theodore changed his mind, they better agree with his suggestion.
"You’re not going to take this back, are you, sis?!" Geoffrey gave Theodore a sharp look. If only he was joking.
Theodore rolled his eyes lazily when he saw Geoffrey still doubting him, but he ignored it.
"I’ll see Cassian later to say we won’t join them after this." Theodore was happy to respond to Roxanne’s positive response to his offer.
"We’re finally back!" Geoffrey rolled over on the back seat, happy they would soon return to base.
Roxanne also looked happy. Considering that they had been out of the base for about a week, she felt it was about time they returned to the base. Roxanne thought it had been a while since her first trip off base.
After Theodore said they could return to the base, Roxanne was excited but didn’t think Theodore was serious at first. After Theodore said he was severe, Roxanne immediately agreed that they should just return to the base.
"But isn’t the trip back to the base dangerous, sis? " Geoffrey asked seriously this time, suddenly remembering their journey here, which could be problematic.
Hearing that question, Roxanne also remembered their journey was quite tricky. Although they arrived safely at the building, it was also thanks to the escort of Cassian’s group, who were already prepared with their weapons.
Without Cassian and the others’ escort, their small car would have been challenging to get through the hordes of zombies blocking the road. Fortunately, it was still daylight, so travelling at night wouldn’t have been as dangerous.
Theodore had already considered this risk, but he was confident enough in himself that he had a way to get back to the base safely, even though it would undoubtedly be a stressful journey.
"Surely, our journey will be dangerous. So, do you guys still want to return to the base?" Theodore asked them again; he wouldn’t mind their decision if they didn’t want to.
"I’m not sure if this is how it will turn out. But, even if we go with Cassian, it won’t necessarily be safe," Roxanne said, thinking seriously this time.
"Yes, considering that their destination this time is a place ordered by the military. It will be more or less like this warehouse," Theodore explained his guess regarding Cassian’s group’s destination after leaving this building.
"That’s right, I’m tired of fighting, actually," Geoffrey replied while scratching his cheek awkwardly; he wanted to return to the base because he was always tired of fighting.
"I’m the same way. I think it’s better if we just go back to the base," Roxanne replied, feeling that it would still be better if they returned to the base, even though their return trip would be dangerous.
After everyone agreed and chose to return to the base, Theodore immediately got out of his car when he saw Cassian and his group descending the elevator stairs.
Theodore called Cassian over to talk to him. There was no time like the present to tell him of their decision not to join them after leaving this building.
"What’s wrong?" Cassian asked curiously, as Theodore rarely called him out of the blue like this. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"I have something important to tell you. It looks like we won’t be coming with you after this; we want to go back to base," Theodore said, explaining why he had called Cassian out like this.
"What, why so suddenly?" Cassian, hearing that, was very surprised. He did not expect Theodore to decide to return to the base first.
"My group members, including me, are exhausted, so we decided to go back first," Theodore replied, explaining their return to the base.
"It’s a pity you won’t be coming with us. We really need your help there," Cassian replied listlessly.
Cassian had already lost a group member, and they had to attack a new place later. He had been calm because they had help from Theodore, but now he said he wanted to return to the base.
For a moment, Cassian wasn’t wondering if his group could reach their destination without Theodore’s help. But since the military had given Cassian the mission, it was inevitable that he would have to go.
"I’m sorry I couldn’t help you." Theodore sincerely apologized to Cassian.
It wasn’t that Theodore didn’t want to help Cassian; it was just that his goal had already been achieved on this trip. So, it was better for him to return to the base. Not to mention, Theodore also intended to conduct an experiment when he arrived at his apartment later.
"No problem. You’ve helped us a lot. But do you have no problem returning it yourself? The road back to the base will not be easy," Cassian said, quite worried about Theodore and his friends’ return journey.
"I think I can still handle it, so no problem." Theodore nodded his head, understanding the risks he would encounter.
"If you’re that sure, then I won’t say anything," Cassian replied with a resigned sigh.
Theodore then said goodbye to Cassian and returned to his car. Soon, they would leave this building, so Theodore had to prepare.
