Chapter 121: Another Mutation

Theodore went back to pick out the groceries that he would bring home with Roxanne and Geoffrey, and they looked at him with curiosity about what had happened to him and Cassian in the butcher shop.

They were very curious because they could see Cassian’s face was pale, and his gaze looked blank. Seeing how shocked Cassian was, Roxanne immediately thought that what had happened was indeed quite severe.

"Are there zombies with power in there?" Roxanne asked Theodore in a low voice, who was between her and Geoffrey.

Instead of answering, Theodore, with an awkward smile, shook his head uncertainty. This made Roxanne and Geoffrey even more confused after seeing Theodore’s movements. freёweɓnovel.com

"Gosh, sis! Can’t you just say it without making us even more curious," Geoffrey said in annoyance at Theodore for not telling them what was inside the meat bin.

"It’s quite difficult for me to explain to you. It’s just that what’s in there is not a zombie but a dog mutated into a zombie." Theodore explained while shuddering in horror at the sight of the mutated dog.

"What? Even animals can mutate into zombies?" Roxanne was shocked to hear what Theodore told them.

Geoffrey was frozen in place while staring at Theodore with a shocked look, not expecting Theodore to say that what he saw in there was a mutated dog.

"If there were only zombies in there, Cassian wouldn’t have reacted that badly," Theodore said, shrugging his shoulders indifferently.

"Then, what about the two people in there?" Roxanne remembered that two people from Cassian’s group were inside the place.

"That mad dog already killed one person. There’s still one more person trapped in there," Theodore said, explaining how things were inside the place.

Roxanne could not react; she could only close her mouth, still unable to process that there was already someone dead inside that meat place. Roxanne had indeed been involved in fights with him. They were zombies.

Roxanne had also seen someone die before her eyes, but in a quiet moment like this, then she heard that someone had died; she honestly still couldn’t get used to hearing news like this.

"No wonder brother Cassian looked so devastated after he came out of that place," Geoffrey said in a slightly shaky voice.

Not wanting to continue the conversation about what happened inside that place, Roxanne invited Geoffrey to continue collecting their items. The two of them still had to choose what to bring back home.

Theodore followed them and helped them with whatever they needed to look for. Since the mutated animal issue wasn’t his problem, Theodore didn’t overthink it.

From what Theodore predicted, it seemed that Cassian would not save his group members trapped inside the meat place because their enemies were tricky.

Previously, when they encountered mutated animals, they did not fight them but preferred to run away from the animals that had gone crazy.

It will take a lot of struggle to defeat the mutated dog. Even Theodore himself prefers to avoid creatures like mutated animals. For Theodore, mutated animals are more ferocious and dangerous than zombies.

However, it seemed that Theodore could not calm down because he heard someone calling him from behind when he was accompanying Roxanne and Geoffrey to collect spices on one of the shelves there.

When Theodore looked back, he could see Cassian, who seemed very serious. Theodore inevitably left Roxanne and Geoffrey and walked towards Cassian.

"Have you decided to face that thing?" Theodore frowned as he saw Cassian already had a gun and iron bars on his back.

In one glance, Theodore already knew that Cassian had decided to go in there to save his group members who were trapped.

"Yes, I’ll take Winsor and three others inside." Cassian nodded, agreeing with Theodore’s words.

"And then? Do you want me to come too?" Theodore still didn’t know why Cassian was calling him at this time. What was his real need?

Before answering Theodore’s question, Cassian took a deep breath and exhaled harshly.

"If I and the others do not return, I hope you can replace me to lead the others." Cassian finally said what he wanted to say to Theodore before he entered the place where the mad dog was.

Theodore was silent and frowned in confusion. How could he lead this group? In fact, Theodore himself didn’t know who all the people were there; he only knew a few.

"I honestly can’t lead your group. But, if you want me to protect them until they return to base, I will," Theodore said, explaining what was on his mind.

"Alright, that’s enough. Please protect them in my absence," Cassian said with a chuckle. At least he could rest easy giving this task to Theodore because he could be trusted.

"Good luck," Theodore said before Cassian and the other four slowly started walking towards the place full of meat.

Roxanne and Geoffrey, who were watching the scene in silence, slowly began to approach Theodore, who was still standing there, while looking at the people who had walked into the place where animals mutated like that.

"I can’t believe Cassian really didn’t ask for your help," Roxanne said in a low voice, not wanting others to hear her words.

"Yes, I was quite surprised too. I thought he called me to ask me to come with them. Though I don’t mind if she asks me for help," Theodore replied, still standing in his place.

"Brother, do you think they can beat that dog?" Geoffrey looked up and turned to Theodore, who was standing beside him.

"Most likely they can, considering Cassian brought Winsor, who also has powers," Theodore replied, thinking there was still a chance for Cassian to successfully kill the dog.

The three of them then decided to return to their previous routine. But I can be sure their minds were Dionysian, and the others were struggling inside that meat place.

. . .

Until nightfall, there was no sign of Cassian and the four others who had entered the meat bin coming out. Chelsea, who was very worried about her brother’s condition, did not stop pacing in front of the entrance.

Amid her nervousness, Chelsea bit her fingernails, very uneasy with the anxiety she felt at the moment.

Finally, Chelsea felt she could not hold back her anxiety anymore; she chose to find someone to do something about her brother, who had not returned until now.
