Chapter 50: The Bright Omega
Flashback: Ten years ago
Anastasia was fifteen years old, she was in her first year of high school and led a very disciplined life.
She wakes up early, attends school, studies diligently, and returns home.
As a straight A+ student, she approached her studies with unwavering dedication.
However, Anastasia’s intimidating presence, stemming from her status as a true-blooded wolf, the pack’s future head alpha, and her wealthy family background, left her with no friends.
The intensity in her dark eyes only added to the perception of her being intimidating to others.
At the age of ten, Anastasia began her training in shifting to her wolf form and honing her combat skills.
She dedicated herself to daily training, following a repetitive routine of school, training, studying, and sleeping then repeating.
Although her life was monotonous, she neither loved nor hated it.
She just knew that this was what had to do for the rest of her life and it was the best for her future.
Not like she had much of a choice.
While sitting at the dining table, eating her healthy breakfast, Anastasia’s mother asked about her day at school and how well she slept.
As usual, Anastasia remained silent, observing her mother engrossed in sending messages and trying to reach her so-called husband and fated mate, who seemed unavailable.
Her mother didn’t press for a response, already preoccupied with her troubled relationship with Anastasia’s father.
Anastasia’s father had been involved with an omega before meeting his true mate, Elisabeth, Anastasia’s mother.
Even after mating with Elisabeth, he continued to secretly see that omega, repeatedly betraying his promises of fidelity as a fated mate.
He even cheated on Elisabeth while she was pregnant with Anastasia.
Elisabeth’s obsession with her mate, constantly calling and monitoring his actions, had led her to neglect her daughter completely.
Anastasia bore bitterness toward her father but felt an even greater disdain for her mother’s obsessive behavior.
She despised her mother’s unwavering devotion to someone who cared so little for her.
Although Anastasia held no blame towards the omega involved, her anger was directed solely at her father for his actions.
Anastasia and Elizabeth meant nothing to that omega which is why she does not owe them anything, it is her father who should and is blamed for betraying his family and his mate bond.
She hated both of them, she hated being so lonely, with no parents, no siblings, no friends.
Nobody was with her to hang out.
This is why she had always been so closed off, and just doesn’t feel like she needs to complain about any problem because she already knows nobody will care.
Day by day, she developed that emotion of not caring enough about anything other than her studies and her future as a head alpha.
This day was different.
She did not know it was going to be different when she woke up, put on her school uniform, and went to the dining area for breakfast to be served by maids.
She got into the car driven by her personal chauffeur.
Her first period was math, her favorite subject at school, so she headed straight to the classroom, sat in the first row, and paid attention to the teacher.
After that, most students headed to the cafeteria to eat and hang out with their friends.
Anastasia did not want to stand there alone like an idiot, so she decided to, as usual, go to the library.
Not because she loved reading, as she wasn’t a big fan of it.
She went there to spend her free period doing what?
Just staring out of the window and watching students walking around with their friends.
She saw a blond guy, an alpha, running after his friend who had stolen some of his things. They were both giggling so hard.
Then she shifted her gaze towards a group of girls talking and laughing together on a bench.
One of them was busy braiding another girl’s hair, while the other two were engaged in conversation.
All the students were divided into groups, laughing and having fun together.
When she was younger, she wished to have that too, but nobody dared to talk to her, and she was too closed off and had no clue how to talk to new people and make friends.
She was even scared of scaring them away.
"Ahm, excuse me." Anastasia almost jumped from her seat when she heard that velvety soft masculine voice.
She immediately turned her face towards the source of the voice, only to find a boy standing by her table, dressed in a school uniform, with fair skin, blond hair, the bluest orbs, and long lashes.
He was an omega, seemingly the same height as her, which was pretty rare since omegas and even males were usually shorter.
He had a wide, soft grin on his face, his head tilted, looking at her softly while holding some books in his hands.
She kept staring at him like a fool, unable to form a correct sentence.
He was so beautiful, and she was afraid of scaring him away.
She had no clue how to talk to someone, let alone talk to an omega without scaring the hell out of him.
"Are you reading here?" he asked with that soft grin on his face.
Anastasia immediately thought he wanted to sit here, so she hastily gathered her stuff and stood up quickly, feeling nervous.
She was about to leave when he stopped her, saying, "Wait, excuse me. I did not mean to ask you to leave."
Anastasia gulped nervously, holding her bag tightly against her chest while looking at the floor.
The omega smiled softly and walked closer to her, saying, "I always see you here in every free period, alone. I was wondering if it’s okay if I sit with you?"
She looked at him in shock, as if he had just said that the earth was flat.
She gulped, feeling her heart racing in her chest, she could hear it in her ears, and she nodded immediately.
"Thank you. Let’s sit together then," the omega said happily with a wide grin on his face.
His smile made Anastasia feel safe and happy, but her face showed no clear emotion.
She watched him sit down and set his stuff on the table before hesitating to sit back down and nervously fidgeting her fingers under the table.
"I’m Nickolas, but you can call me Nick if you want. I’m fifteen," he introduced himself excitedly while Anastasia listened to him carefully. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
She hesitated to open her mouth and softly said, "Anastasia. Fifteen."
"I know who you are. Everyone knows who you are, actually. You’re pretty popular. I mean, I wouldn’t expect less from our future head alpha. I like sitting in the library. I love reading. I also have a lot of friends here. By the way, do you have a free period now?"
She nodded quietly and kept listening to every single word that came out of his mouth carefully.
She paid so much attention to him and only spoke when he asked her something.
She might not have looked like she was enjoying it, but internally she was so happy to have him around and listen to his blabbering.
She felt so sad when they had to go to different classrooms, and she couldn’t stop thinking about him.
When school was over, she walked towards the car where her chauffeur was waiting but stopped when she heard someone calling out her name, "Anastasia, wait!"
She immediately turned around when she heard his voice.
It was Nickolas.
He jogged toward her and stood before her, panting and smiling.
As he jogged towards her, he came to a stop in front of Anastasia, panting and wearing a wide smile. "I want your number to keep in contact," he said, his voice filled with eagerness.
Anastasia quietly shared her number, and he thanked her, his eyes shining with joy as if he had just received the number of his favorite celebrity.
"Thank you," he said, pausing to gaze at her. Then he asked, "See you tomorrow?"
Her body froze as he leaned closer and unexpectedly embraced her.
Time seemed to stand still as she stood there, unable to believe that someone was actually hugging her.
As he pulled away, bidding her farewell and jogging towards his waiting car, Anastasia remained rooted to the spot, feeling like a statue.
His sweet scent lingered on her clothes, and she closed her eyes, savoring the fragrance that enveloped her.
It was a moment she would cherish, a simple act of affection that left a memorable impression.
When she got home, she couldn’t stop thinking about him.
She didn’t change her clothes because she wanted to keep his sweet smell close to her.
His gentle smile, voice, and the way he tilted his head when he spoke to her filled her mind.
She had never had such a special interaction before, especially with an omega her age.
She couldn’t focus on studying; his smile was stuck in her thoughts.
It was the first time she felt so excited to wake up and go to school.
She longed to see him, hear his voice, and feel his presence.
His sweet scent and blue eyes had a magical effect on her, and she didn’t mind at all.
She cherished her time with Nick and looked forward to their next free period together.
As she closed her eyes, she escaped to her dreamland where someone else other than her was finally present there with her, the male omega whom she believed would bring light to her dark life.
