Chapter 49: Omegas Destroy Everything
"What was in the veggie smoothie?" Liam asked, his voice laced with concern.
Anastasia hummed softly, attempting to recall the ingredients. "A mix of vegetables, and... there was one herb that I forgot the name of."
Liam narrowed his eyes, the dizziness intensifying. "What herb? Could I be allergic to it?"
Anastasia shook her head. "You are not allergic. That herb is great for health. It can make issues vanish instantly, particularly... this one here." She placed her hand on the man’s stomach, her touch unsettling.
Silence enveloped them, leaving Liam with a growing sense of unease and a host of unanswered questions.
Something was terribly wrong, and he feared he was running out of time to find out what it was.
The water changed into red.
Liam’s body froze in shock as he gazed at the water in the bathtub, now stained red.
Anastasia remained kneeling beside him close to the bathtub where Liam was still sitting inside the now red water, her presence only adding to his bewilderment.
His chest tightened, making it difficult to breathe, and a dizzying sensation washed over him, leaving him feeling disoriented, lost, and in utter disbelief.
"What?" Liam managed to utter, his voice trembling with disbelief.
He literally has no idea how he even managed to form that word.
"W-what do you mean?" Once more he managed to form this question as he asked lowly, his voice filled with a mixture of confusion and denial.
Tears welled up in his eyes, pain gushing through his entire body that was still soaked in the water.
He pleaded with Anastasia, desperately hoping that this was all some sick joke. "Please tell me you are joking, Anastasia."
"I’m joking," Anastasia replied in a monotonous voice, in the same unbothered tone that usually used, which she also stopped using with him when she knew about his pregnancy.
Was that all an act?
Liam’s breaths came in short, rapid pants as he tried to comprehend the sight of the water turning red.
His eyes widened as he asked, his voice quivering, "Then why is the water red?"
Anastasia glanced at the crimson water in the tub and spoke with an emotionless face, "You are the one who asked me to say I’m joking," she paused, her finger lightly brushing against his hair, "I’m not really joking, Snow."
He should have known that already, Anastasia has never been the type of woman to like to joke around.
Dizziness and confusion overwhelmed Liam, leaving him feeling broken and lost.
His voice trembled weakly as he asked, "Why? Just why?" While barely being able to look at Anastasia with his eyes that are now filled with tears.
Anastasia’s eyes remained devoid of emotion as she stood up, preparing to leave the bathroom.
But before she departed, she heard Liam mumbling something. "You will regret it, Anastasia. And I will be the one that will make you regret it."
Ignoring his words, Anastasia walked away, leaving Liam alone in the bathtub, bleeding and in pain.
She could not care less.
People were not lying when they described her as emotionless.
Panic surged through him as he continued to bleed, the pain intensifying with each passing moment.
"No, no, please no," he pleaded, his voice filled with desperation, hoping for the bleeding and pain to stop.
As his strength withered, Liam’s vision blurred, and the world around him faded into darkness.
Overwhelmed by the physical and emotional trauma, he gave in to unconsciousness, his body slipping further into the water-filled tub, lost in a sea of anguish and despair.
When Liam regained consciousness, he felt an overwhelming sense of weakness, his body betraying him despite all his physical strength and training.
The once-proud muscles and confident stride now seemed useless and inefficient in his current state.
As his mind cleared, confusion enveloped him for the first few minutes.
He looked around, trying to piece together the events leading up to his passing out and understand his surroundings.
Memories of the traumatic experience flashed in his mind, and instantly, panic gripped him, tightening its hold on his heart.
His gaze shifted towards the water, and he gasped in shock.
The bathtub was no longer filled with water but instead stained with blood, a gruesome reminder of the tragedy that had unfolded.
With trembling hands, he reached out and touched his stomach, only to let out a pained whimper when he felt nothing, no sign of the life that had once grown inside him.
The realization hit him with a wave of anguish — the baby was gone, lost forever.
Sitting in the bloody tub, Liam was overcome by trauma and grief.
He remained there, cradling his stomach, lost in the depths of his sorrow, unable to measure the passage of time.
Eventually, like a lifeless shell, he rose to his feet, his body moving mechanically, detached from his own will.
Dripping blood, he made his way to the shower, seeking solace in cleansing himself of the bloodstains.
Wrapping a towel around his hips, he sat on the floor, his gaze fixed on the water tainted with his own blood.
His mind became blank, his heart shattered and his spirit broken.
Tears streamed down Liam’s face, mingling with the bloody water in the tub as he sobbed in deep grief.
The weight of loss and guilt bore down on him as he whispered to the empty space around him, his voice filled with sorrow and remorse.
"I’m sorry, baby. You need to know that your father loved you and will always love you, no matter what. Even though you’re gone, you will forever be in my heart. Goodbye, baby. I love you. I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you."
With a heavy heart, Liam reached out and opened the drain, watching the bloody water slowly recede, carrying away the remains of his child.
Each moment felt agonizingly slow, mirroring the pain and grief he carried within him.
Standing up, he caught the sight of his reflection in the mirror.
The image that stared back at him was a stark contrast to the person he once was.
His eyes, once vibrant and full of life, now appeared dark and lifeless, encircled by dark circles that spoke volumes of his inner torment.
His skin, once kissed by the sun with a healthy tan, now seemed pale and sickly, drained of energy.
Silently and with a heavy heart, Liam made his way to his room, moving slowly and mechanically, as if his body operated on autopilot, devoid of any sensation.
Each step felt hollow, a reminder of the emptiness that now resided within him.
After Liam put on some clothes, he made his way to Anastasia’s office with determination in his steps.
Bursting through the door without knocking, he found Anastasia engrossed in a conversation with Caleb about the recent attack and their plans to offer support and condolences to the affected families.
Their discussion was abruptly interrupted by Liam’s entrance, causing both Anastasia and Caleb to turn their attention towards him.
Anastasia glanced at Liam, taking in his chaotic appearance, before instructing Caleb to leave while still maintaining her gaze on Liam.
"You can leave, Caleb. We’ll continue later," she said firmly, her eyes never leaving Liam’s figure.
Caleb nodded, offering a friendly smile to Liam, but received no response in return.
Confused, Caleb patted Liam’s shoulder before exiting the room.
As soon as the door closed, Anastasia placed her worksheets on her desk and turned her full attention to Liam, who stared back at her with an empty gaze.
She spoke, her voice filled with a detached monotony, "So, how are you feeling? I bet it feels nicer. You feel free, don’t you?"
Liam met her gaze with a stony expression, his heart frozen in emotional detachment.
He asked in a subdued, monotone voice, devoid of any trace of emotion, "Why...? I just want to know why you did that. Why did you kill my baby? Is it because I’m an omega? But you said you don’t hate omegas the other day. Is it because of my rank or because I’m a low-life as Scott said? Tell me why. That’s all I want to know. Why did you do it?"
Anastasia stood up, stepping closer to him, her eyes fixed on his face.
She responded, her voice filled with a mixture of disgust and anger, "I don’t hate omegas, you’re right. I wasn’t lying the other day."
Pausing momentarily, she leaned even closer to him, her expression contorted with disgust. "I DESPISE them. I despise omegas more than anything in this world."
Confusion and shock washed over Liam as he struggled to comprehend her words. He mumbled in disbelief, "Why? Why do you hate us? What did we ever do to you that was so bad to the point of making you kill our... My own child?"
Anastasia’s eyes flashed red with anger as she responded, her voice seething with resentment, "Because your rank destroyed everything good in my life."
Filled with rage, she paced back and forth, her emotions reaching a boiling point.
In a fit of anger, she grabbed a nearby vase and hurled it against the wall, shattering it into pieces.
Breathing heavily, she continued, "First my parents’ relationship, then my teenage years, and now you trying to baby-trap me and ruin my life."
Liam was left in a state of shock, unable to comprehend the accusations and blame being directed at him and the other omegas. freewebnøvel.coɱ
He stared at Anastasia with disbelief, his voice trembling as he questioned her, "What the hell are you talking about? I don’t understand."
