Chapter 21: Nobody understands a thing.
(Everyone reading this, please read until the very end to understand everything.)
The tongue at that moment was a truly despicable and unyielding tool; it did not just satisfy itself with performing what Lucy’s mind commanded, but even began to invent new and exclusive positions of tasting.
This violent, intimate intertwining was the only and deepest path to manage to continue staying inside Cain’s consciousness, while those unknown forces were trying to expel and throw her out with all their might.
She had realized that had she been touching a normal part of his body in an ordinary way, those counter-forces would have hurled her out a long time ago.
Through this connection, she saw her past self already drowning in the embrace of Cain, who was longing in his memories for any coldness to ease that suffocating heat consuming his insides.
But the memories began to distort and overlap for her, and the virtual world around her began to crumble and collapse like a castle of sand.
Lucy wanted to know more... How could her first and most sacred night with Cain be merely an engineered plot by an unknown entity whose identity she couldn’t even determine? She was literally starting to feel insane.
Lucy unleashed her messages, loaded with her terrifying aura, through her divine consciousness that belonged to the owners of the Truth Realm, and screamed deep within his mind:
"Who are you? What do you want from me? And what is the meaning of all this nonsense? Was that entire night part of your plot? What do you mean by me being the yandere villainess? What kind of favor are you talking about?!"
She was furious to the absolute limit; she despised being controlled by anyone or having her destiny directed without her knowledge, even if she had deep down wished for Cain to approach her in the past. But what would this entity gain from all this manipulation?
The echo of the cold, mechanical response resonated within her consciousness:
{Are you seriously talking? Even after I fulfilled one of your despicable desires by having you on his bed, you don’t appreciate the favor? And you also forget! You destroy the world in every single timeline, and you don’t want me to intervene? You killed my protagonist whom I made with my own hands in all worlds, and you don’t want any punishment?}
Lucy screamed with a hateful internal voice:
"You bastard... You are slandering me! I haven’t done anything of what you claim. Even if that night was your doing, and even if I don’t know who you are, I don’t care about all that you rave about!"
The world of memories fractured more and more, and the earthquake inside Cain’s mind intensified, only for the entity’s final response to come even more mockingly
{The power based on your love for him is pure nonsense. He himself is nothing more than a mere pawn to me, and I can do whatever I desire. Do you want to know something? To me, he is nothing more than a passing ’Reader’, and I can kill him at any moment. But to you, he is your entire life... He will be the very weakness that brings you down, so my protagonist can rise again and kill you exactly as planned.}
And at that exact moment, an extremely high-pressure force was unleashed, hitting her Truth Realm consciousness and violently hurling her completely out of Cain’s memories.
Lucy found herself gripping her head in sharp pain, even after returning to her body on the shore.
With her burning eyes, she stared at Cain’s face, who was still surrendered to his unconscious state, his mouth slightly open, and his lips coated with the traces of her flowing saliva from the aftermath of that violent kiss.
Lucy stood before this sight, her entire body trembling with pure rage and fury.
She had opened the doors to an entirely unknown world she knew nothing about, and doubts began to creep into every single truth she once believed in this universe. Even her love for Cain, which represented her absolute and deep-rooted conviction, began to waver under the weight of this conspiracy. She grew suspicious of every person she had ever known and every event she had ever passed through.
She clenched her teeth so hard they almost shattered, and whispered while staring down at him:
"Who are you?.. Cain... You are not my weakness... Surely that despicable entity is the one who convinced you of this, surely he is the one who threatened you with destruction if you stayed with me..."
She was talking to the frozen Cain on the chair, her tears almost overflowing from sheer helplessness.
Was the love of her life, and the only person her heart ever breathed, just a bait and a weakness placed by a malicious entity that wanted to destroy her?
Then, the plan was crystal clear: first, she needed to find this entity and eliminate it, then crush his protagonist, then destroy his entire world, and after that, she and Cain would live all by themselves in a universe belonging only to them.
She refused to believe the entity’s words that Cain was just an obstacle or a tool to diminish her tyranny.
She was on the verge of erupting in fury and releasing her energy, but she looked at Cain so close to her, and her impulse receded; she was deeply terrified for him, terrified that she might accidentally hurt him, or that he might die. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Is he her weakness? Perhaps. But he...
"You are the most beautiful weakness in existence... Ah... If only I could just rid you of all these villains surrounding you..."
Cain in this state of surrender was the absolute most delicious and arousing position for Lucy’s yandere obsession; it allowed her to display all her dark, possessive sides without fearing his judgment. If they could just stay like this forever, it would be more than enough for her.
She thought calmly; how would she reach this entity? He was certainly monitoring her movements right now. Therefore, the best thing she could do was feign ignorance and show no suspicious movement, until the dangerous idea cooking inside her head was fully realized under the beautiful moonlight.
A terrifying strategy was born in her mind: she would personally develop and modify the "Heart’s Touch" technique into the "Soul’s Touch", turning it into a supreme technique that would enable her to dive into the deepest soul memories of Cain. Only then would she understand everything, and comprehend what that entity meant by the words "Novel" and "Yandere Villainess".
And for this technique to succeed, she had to be in the deepest and most powerful physical and spiritual connection with the target. This technique wouldn’t just be for interrogative purposes; she would merge it with her own desires, which the entity had labeled as despicable.
They would be together in the deepest state of connection... on one bed, under the light of a single candle, and with one blended will.
She was about to go insane, melting from pure excitement just thinking about what she was planning.
She would develop this technique, and expose all the cards. The first and ultimate goal was protecting her world and wiping out the enemies. Furthermore, she must not attempt to invade his mind again for the time being, so that entity wouldn’t resort to killing Cain in retaliation—because if that happened, she would truly destroy existence entirely. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
The entity recognized her weakness, and she, too, recognized the entity’s weakness, which manifested in his world.
Therefore, no matter what Cain’s past was, and no matter what his reality was, she no longer cared; he belonged to her alone.
Lucy decided to return to her "Maxi" disguise; she must not make him feel guilty or panicked if he ever learned what she had discovered, and she needed to wait and strike at the absolute perfect moment.
With lightning speed, she reconstructed the disguise magic, and Maxi’s features returned to view as if nothing had changed. But first, she used a delicate magical cleaning spell to erase any trace of saliva or mess that had occurred on his mouth from her investigative kiss.
After a few short moments, she took a step back, and said in a calm, feigned tone:
"Sir Cain... Are you awake?"
Normal vision returned to Cain’s eyes, and the yellow tint and fog faded away. He immediately grabbed his head, groaning as he tried to recover his memories from the violent state of confusion that had struck his consciousness.
"What happened?... My head feels like it’s about to explode..."
Maxi replied with a fake, worried expression, "You suddenly fell asleep while sitting up. Did any harm come to you?"
Cain suddenly held his jaw, feeling a strange pain, "Damn it... Why does my jaw hurt like this? What exactly happened while I was asleep?"
Lucy tried to justify the matter quickly to dispel any tension he might feel, "It is just mild, normal muscle spasms, mostly due to a bad, stress-inducing sleeping position on this wooden chair."
Cain stood up from the chair, staggering slightly, but he paused in confusion; why did he sense a highly attractive and deeply arousing feminine scent—stronger and more beautiful than anything he had ever smelled in his life—clinging to his clothes and body?
This matter was giving him a violent headache, and he addressed himself hopefully: ’It seems the System succeeded in deceiving her and hiding the facts from her.. Damn it, what did I say to her while I was unconscious? She isn’t showing any hostile or murderous aura right now.. How brilliant you are, you damn System!’
The System’s voice echoed in his head immediately:
🤖 {You are very welcome, Host.. This System tried with all its available power and maneuvering to keep Lucy Montgrad dormant from attacking or killing the Host for some time.}
Cain recalled the final, terrifying moments before his consciousness completely dropped; at that moment, panic was piercing through his limbs like crazy, as he felt that Lucy was searching and digging into his deepest memories.
He knew that if she found out anything about the "Novel" or the truth of this world, it would be his absolute doom and the end of the universe, and she would torture him mercilessly to extract all the answers from his soul.
Therefore, his final words were a desperate plea to the System before losing consciousness:
"System... Please... Save me! Do anything and make sure she doesn’t kill me right now... Just buy me some extra time... You can say anything to her, just don’t let her tear me apart!"
To which the System replied at the time: {Do not worry, Host... This System will attempt to gather its full specialized power, and expel her from the Host’s memories to protect you.}
