Chapter 20: Youthful days
"Oh, damn it... What do I do now? This miserable world will be completely destroyed at the hands of the yandere villainess Lucy Montgrad... and anyone who insulted her, even by half a word, will surely die! But I was just a prisoner in my past life, doesn’t this mean this is another chance for the life I always wanted?"
"In that academy novel... as long as I bypass the butchers’ attack... and the end of the world at the hands of that terrifying royal-level villainess... I can live a peaceful life after that..."
Every single word she pulled from the depths of his consciousness acted like a thunderbolt, exploding a new shock Lucy.
She was looking into his ancient memories that belonged to this body... She couldn’t search the memories of his actual soul to know everything, but these memories were from a time long before they had even met in Academy... in the first place.
But what was the story of this damn "novel" he was talking about? Why did he call himself an "Extra"? And worst of all... who on earth was this "great yandere villainess" named Lucy Montgrad who would destroy the world? That was her name! Her full name!
And the butchers’ attack—she knew about it, in fact, she was absolutely sure that it happened way before the date of these memories!
Lucy was practically going insane from pure bewilderment. This made her thrust her tongue even deeper and more violently inside his mouth, like someone frantically digging for a hidden treasure in the middle of this mental storm, moaning in a low, strained voice overflowing with desire and agitation.
She tried hard to find the source of those phrases, or any information explaining the concept of a "novel," but she found nothing tangible. These memories went back eight years, before they knew each other,
Suddenly, a flash of realization struck her, making her limbs tremble...
That exact title, "the yandere villainess," was the very same title the members of the "Hero’s Party" had called her in their past battles! A strange, suspicious feeling gripped her; how could Cain know the future? How did he know her title and the destruction of the world before anything had even happened in the first place?
This fatal curiosity, mixed with her emotional obsession, drove her to devour the inside of his mouth with her starved tongue like a raging wildfire, diving deeper, and deeper, and deeper... She wanted to strip away all his secrets and know the absolute truth.
Other memories of Cain echoed in her mind:
"Hahaha... ***... finally, the *** is here... I got my Golden Finger! Now, after being just a miserable prisoner, I can finally live my life exactly how I want..."
Despite Lucy’s legendary ascension and her reaching the cosmic "Truth Realm," she was completely unable to decode those blocked words. The entity Cain was referring to was hidden behind a solid, deafening wall, entirely shielded from the laws of this universe!
From the intensity of her agitation and her violent, twisting movements on top of his lap, she almost caused a wound inside his mouth, but she didn’t care. All that occupied her mind was understanding how an entity in this world could hide from the eyes of a "Truth Realm" sensor?
She dove deeper into the memory of his pupils, seeing the world through his old gaze. She saw a strange blue screen floating in the air before his face, with mysterious texts written on it, and she heard his voice saying:
"***** Sign in... I understand now..."
But no matter how much she tried to focus her spiritual sight, she couldn’t read a single letter of what was written, as if the texts were automatically erasing and dissolving right before her eyes.
Suddenly, and in a terrifying way she never accounted for, the silence of his mind split open to a sharp, cold, mechanical voice, directing its speech straight to her:
[We know you are watching these memories.. You are not allowed to be here!]
Lucy’s entire entity shook violently, and she felt a earthquake hitting her spiritual consciousness following a massive, terrifying surge of counter-mental energy that erupted from the depth of Cain’s mind, aiming to expel her with brutal force.
But Lucy, with all the absolute tyranny of her "Truth Realm" energy, bared her fangs and resisted this expulsion with death-defying stubbornness, clinging to his memories with all her might, refusing to leave before ripping out her answers!
Lucy tried with all the absolute tyranny of her Truth Realm energy to hold her ground against that violent expulsion. In the end, she managed to bypass those memories and suddenly transition into a specific memory.
She reached a certain memory that made her heart race violently, hammering against her chest.
She saw him before her eyes, holding a bottle of mysterious wine that radiated a strange glow. From its bottle alone, she could sense it was no ordinary wine. He was sitting in a dark place resembling a tavern, muttering with intense frustration at a table all by himself, that wine bottle in his hand.
"Soul-Melting Wine... Are you freaking kidding me? Do I really have to drink this poison?"
The mysterious blue screen flashed again in his field of vision. Lucy tried not to look at it so the violent mental backlash wouldn’t attack her. Instead, Lucy evaded this mental pressure by closing the memory stream through Cain’s eyes, relying solely on listening to Cain’s words.
Cain continued his conversation with the mysterious entity hesitantly, "Won’t this be dangerous? How terrible of a numbing effect does this drink have? Will I even be able to endure it?"
"Fine, I don’t care about anything as long as I get stronger and the energy pathways in my body expand."
"The Great Global Trial is just around the corner, and I must come out of it in first place, no arguments."
"I need to obtain the Phoenix Soul Shards that will help me reach the Noble Realm."
"...I will be the first in history to reach this realm at such an early age, even before the protagonist himself, Hykes."
Cain downed the wine in a single gulp, and the burning liquid rushed through his blood vessels like lava.
"Wow... it is truly powerful and destructive... but I need to wait... I need to return to my room immediately."
Cain stumbled as he tried to stand on his feet, utterly overcome by the swift, supernatural effect of the alcohol. He fell to the floor and began to stagger clumsily after managing to stand, forcing his way with extreme difficulty toward the tavern’s door.
"What is this scorching heat?... It’s suffocating... I feel like my breath is being ripped apart by the flames."
Before he could even reach his hotel room, the effect of the spiritual wine had taken a brutal toll on him. He stripped off most of his upper clothes, remaining half-naked, desperately trying to cast ice spells onto his body.
But those cold spells were useless against the internal fires consuming him. He wasn’t in his full senses, but he realized a real crisis was ravaging his body. His blood vessels began to swell and bulge terrifyingly beneath his sweaty skin. freewёbnoνel.com
This was the primary effect of the wine—expanding the pathways for a raging torrent of mana to surge through. But this effect intertwined with a massive, excessive physical arousal controlling his instincts. As the vessels in his body expanded, the vessels in a specific, private place expanded too.
Cain walked through the hallways half-naked, completely detached from reality, caring about nothing except extinguishing the flames. He didn’t know why, but he felt he would find what could put out his fire inside his room.
Cain entered his room, bursting through the door while panting with scorching breaths, and froze in his tracks in utter shock,
"Huh?... What are you saying? Are you seriously real about this?"
He turned his gaze toward the bed and found a breathtaking woman sitting there, surrounding herself with a dense, concentrated icy aura... her arms wrapped tightly around herself as she moaned from the freezing cold. At this exact moment, the current Lucy’s heart pounded with insane speed, almost tearing through her ribs.
It became glaringly obvious to her that her own consciousness in that past wasn’t doing well either. She was suffering severely from the frost poison that was gradually freezing her limbs and her emotions.
She saw her past self looking at Cain, who was rushing toward her with his sweaty, burning body. He approached her instinctively, viewing her icy aura as the only source to extinguish his heat.
And what absolutely shocked the current Lucy was that her past self never stopped him from approaching at all. Instead, she let him advance toward her, opening her closed arms like a blooming rose to welcome him into her embrace.
Lucy was about to go completely insane, losing her mind entirely as she watched the scenes of their first youth. She was no longer satisfied with just kissing him in the present; she wished she could reenact those moments in every single detail.
While she was deeply lost in her intense agitation, the strange blue screen suddenly interrupted the scene. Clear, strict texts appeared directly before her spiritual eyes:
[Consider this as a favor from us to you.]
Lucy’s eyes widened in sheer shock, and she screamed deep within her mind with absolute bewilderment and complications,
"Whaaaat?! What the hell does this nonsense mean?!"
Was this hidden thing the reason behind everything that happened to them from the very beginning? Was it the one that gave Cain that damn wine just to send him to her room that night? Did it do that solely to satisfy her desire, and so the frost poison wouldn’t consume her body and emotions? Did it manipulate destiny, making Cain rent the exact same room she had taken shelter in to escape the plot engineered against her?
Lucy’s entire consciousness shook, and a supreme confusion accompanied by a raging fury consumed her as she thought:
’What in the living hell does this unknown entity want from us?!’
