Chapter 26: Saga 26— This IS Very Bad.... Bro’s Just TOO Broken!
Everything paused for a moment. ’How did he survive all of that?’ Kael most definitely wasn’t waiting for a reply to his question. He simply couldn’t believe it. Paul didn’t even have a scratch on his body after being hammered down by so many consecutive attacks.
’This defies logic.’ He rubbed a hand against his temples.
A wide grin tore across Paul’s face, which clearly meant, "You are fucked!" The monsters that had seemed dormant until now strode out from the rubble of round one to begin round two. The two Mythic-tier monsters stood by his sides. One moment they were allies; the next, Paul placed a hand on each of their heads respectively.
Before they could register what was happening or protest, Paul buried his fingers into their heads—purple energy flowed from their bodies through his hands into the center of his chest. When he was done, he threw their charred remains onto the ground.
The other monsters saw this and began to flee, but it was already too late. He opened his mouth wide and took a deep breath. The mana from the remaining monsters streamed into his being as horrifying screams echoed one after another, their bodies dropping like flies.
Azure Blake and Kael witnessed this horrifying scene unfold before their eyes. Deep within, they knew this fight was about to become far bloodier from here on out.
Purple lines spread from the center of Paul’s chest across the rest of his body—his eyes, legs, and hands. A torrent of thick, dense, suffocating mana flooded from his being. He had undergone an upgrade and became a hundred times stronger than he was before.
Space shifted. Paul appeared in front of Claire. She wasn’t allowed to dodge or offer any form of resistance. The moment she opened her eyes, she found herself embedded within a tree trunk. Crimson blood streamed down from her head. Her vision blurred, every bone in her body had been brutally shattered, and she couldn’t move an inch.
Harriden sprang out of Paul’s shadow and drove a poisoned dagger into his back. Harriden attempted to re-enter Paul’s shadow.
Then a profound invisible force seized him by the neck.
"I was waiting for you." Paul grabbed Harriden by the throat, slowly lifting his feet off the ground. Harriden retaliated, using the daggers in his hands to sever Paul’s arms. But it had no effect; he simply healed far too quickly.
"Always so pesky and annoying."
Paul crushed Harriden’s arms one after the other. Paul’s lips curled into a profound smirk as he watched Harriden scream in agony.
"Arghhhhhhhh!"
He couldn’t feel his hands. They were twisted like pretzels. His sleeves were soaked in crimson blood that dripped profusely onto the ground.
"Is that all the fight you have left? How boring."
Paul watched as the light faded from Harriden’s eyes. He then slammed Harriden’s body into the ground, creating a deep crater that swallowed him whole.
"You are next, pretty boy!"
By the time Yuki could register Paul’s words, Paul had already slammed his giant fist into the side of his chest. The impact echoed for miles, causing the birds in the sky to scatter in disarray. Yuki’s body was hurled deep into the forest as though gravity itself had become weightless.
"Yuki!"
Sylvia descended with a heavy sword strike. In retaliation, Paul launched his fist forward. The two collided, and tremendous shockwaves rippled through the air across the highlands.
"Not bad—" Paul smiled.
"But too weak."
He overwhelmed Sylvia through sheer strength. He thrust upward. She tried to regain her balance, but it was already too late. Paul rushed her with a relentless barrage of punches. He didn’t give her a single chance to recover. Every strike deliberately targeted her limbs until Sylvia’s body finally gave out. Paul grabbed her by the neck and hurled her into the ground with a tremendous BOOM.
The earth spiderwebbed endlessly as her body crashed down. Sylvia coughed up blood upon impact. A massive shockwave swept across the expanse. Sylvia’s eyes rolled completely white before her crystal pupils slowly returned.
"I’m sorry, little lady—"
Paul thrust downward with both feet leading. There was no time for Sylvia to even think about dodging.
Paul grinned from ear to ear as he descended upon her.
"You will be the first to die!"
Sylvia looked up helplessly. Even she didn’t know what she felt at that moment, but it certainly wasn’t acceptance.
Paul crashed down with devastating force. The impact uprooted every tree within ten kilometres. Yet Paul realized his feet had never touched the ground. Something foreign was holding them back. The brown dust was swept away by the overwhelming eruption of Kael’s mana.
"You? I was saving you for last... But it seems you lack the patience to await your own turn—"
An invisible force hammered down upon Kael. It was as though he were trying to support an entire mountain.
"Worry not. If you are in that much of a hurry to die, then I will grant your wish."
Dark purple energy condensed around Paul’s right arm. The next second, he unleashed a brutal blast that engulfed both Kael and Sylvia, burrowing into the earth and turning it into molten lava.
A powerful purple shockwave erupted from beneath Paul’s suspended feet, knocking him onto the ground.
"What the hell?"
Paul couldn’t believe it. He had been certain that he had vanquished Kael with that blast, yet Kael stood before him completely unharmed with Sylvia in his arms.
"What’s with the face? Did you think you were the only one with tricks?"
Kael wore a smug expression, fully aware that his very existence tormented his foe.
[Hmph... You wouldn’t be alive if not for my expertise.]
’Coming from the scumbag that arrived three years late.’
Kael sneered.
[What a jerk!]
Kael gently laid Sylvia on the ground. His eyes were filled with concern. Then he shifted his gaze toward Paul, and all of that concern transformed into controlled fury.
"I’m sure you would have noticed by now—"
Space distorted beneath Kael’s left arm, and a small black hole opened. He slipped his hand inside and pulled out a fairly large, pulsating, dark, mucky heart.
Paul’s eyes widened in shock, his face contorting with profound terror.
"How... How did you get that?"
His twisted voice shook. His hands and feet trembled like a baby that had wet his pants.
"Oh, this ugly thing? I plucked it from an oak tree."
Kael’s grin widened. He raised the heart to eye level and crushed it. Dark red muck splashed across his face, then he licked it with his tongue.
