Chapter 1: Saga 1 —My Goddamn System ..... Arrived Fucking Three years Late
"You have to be kidding me... What kind of repulsive bastard created this... this goddamn defective system that chose to activate three years after I reincarnated into this world, no less after my... my mother just passed on—"
Just right after Kael buried the body of his only remaining family—his mother—in the ground.
He received a notification that he had been waiting for the past three years since he reincarnated into this world of swords, spells, and mysteries.
[Welcome, Host... ??? System initialising... 50... 75... 95... 100]
[Congrats! Host, ??? System has flawlessly initialised and bound itself to your soul.]
[Starting Pack Gifts: All-Healing Potion, Inventory & the Self-Reconstructing Sword]
[Your rewards have been deposited into your inventory.]
[Just to be clear, the inventory is an endless space that has been bound to the host’s soul. You can access the items in it by reaching into the depths of your soul; the same goes for depositing items.]
Kael wasn’t shocked by the grand reveal—he was infuriated. His teeth grinded against each other. The veins on his face were more prominent than usual. His eyes widened to get a full view of the system notifications.
"This system has to be fucking with me—"
"My mother just died, and now you offer me an All-Healing Potion. How ironic..."
He gawked at the notifications. For years, he had been fighting tooth and nail to procure a cure for his mother’s illness.
He worked his ass off doing all sorts of menial jobs, from rescuing arrogant cats that somehow made their way to the tops of trees and couldn’t get down, to plumbing, then fighting goblins and direwolves.
Unlike the other reincarnators in the webnovels and novels that he had read about, who got golden fingers immediately after they arrived in another world,
Kael, on the other hand, got nothing but a tiring and brutal life. After months of frustration, he couldn’t wait for a cheat code that he was sure would never come.
He had to get out of bed, train, and work till he dropped. Life wasn’t that bad at some point—he had a nice and caring mother who loved him very much and tried her best to provide warm meals.
Something he didn’t experience in his former life. As time went on, he got attached to the mother of the body he inhabited as if she were his own mom.
Paradise shattered when his mother came down with an illness of an unknown origin. In time, she got weaker and weaker.
Kael did everything in his power to get enough money to take her to see the best physicians. The best he could afford all seemed to have no solution and even turned him down.
It got so bad that he even had to sell their house and ended up living in a barn.
After all that struggle, he still had to bury his mother with his own two hands.
"You can shove your rewards up your sorry ass for all I care." At this point, he did not want anything to do with such an incompetent system.
[Command accepted!]
[Would the host like to reject the ??? System?]
[Yes/No]
"Ye—"
He was just about to walk away from it all when he recalled his mother’s last words.
"Kael... Even if I am no more... Please don’t forget to live your life to the fullest and make your own decisions. Don’t cry over this old woman anymore. Conquer the world or help the world, your choice..."
"No." He decided to take his mother’s last words to heart and accept his tardy system.

{Task: Save a Butterfly}
{Reward: Revanade System}
[Update!]
[Task has been completed ??? years ago.]
[Reward has been claimed and redirected to the ???]
Kael just stood there, fuming. Not only had he already done all these quests, but the system kept giving his rewards to some randos.
"Who the fuck keeps on claiming my rewards?"
Kael was at the very brink of tipping over—and the system kept making things worse.
[Error... Error... Errr... Error detected.]
[Initiating cleansing protocols.]
[Error has been subdued for now.]
’For now? This has to be some kind of bad joke.’ Kael obviously knew that the error could occur again at any point in time.
[The host has received a Grand Quest!]
{Grand Quest: Collect all your redirected rewards (systems) by any means possible.}
[There will be no added rewards at this point. The host has reached the apex of this patch.]
[The time limit has yet to be verified.]
[Penalty for failure: Penalty has yet to be set]
{Systems Collected: 0/999}
’Not only does this shithead, glitching son of a bitch in the form of my system activate three years late, but it redirects my rewards, and now it’s asking me to collect them back—’
’Talk about obscene.’
He didn’t know whether to be amused, frustrated, angry, or just fucking crash out. For someone who envied the protagonists in the webnovels he had read, he constantly wished to get reincarnated and receive the whole overpowered system.
"After all the waiting, all I got was a defective system that makes me clean up its messes, with no benefits or prior warnings. Fuck you, ??? System!"
Kael completely had it—but the worst was yet to come.
[Congrats! Host, your not-so-vulgar request has been fulfilled.]
[System update successful.]
[The host will receive the updated Grand Quest Starter Pack.]
[The host may choose four types of assists from the list below.]
[Location Assist: The system will help the host locate the nearest holders of the redirected systems. Cons: The host can only be shown one location at a time.]
[Enhancement Assist: The host may gain boosted strength, durability, and mana output at the cost of one year of the host’s lifespan for every thirty minutes of use.]
[Immortality Assist: If the host dies, he will revive after a brief delay of one minute. This resets every 24 hours.]
[Intelligence Assist: The host becomes incredibly smart at the cost of his sexual potency (arousal, inability to ejaculate, or gain an erection).]
[Teleportation Assist: The host will be teleported to any location he sees fit. However, the host has to deposit gold coins. The amount of gold coins required depends on the location.]
[Dick Increment Assist: The host gains an enlarged dick at the cost of reduced intelligence and a mild probability of madness.]
[Equipment Assist: The host gets to choose two Legendary-grade pieces of equipment from the list provided below. Do note that some weapons may possess side effects.]
[Holy Blade, Reindor. Pros: Very effective against evil spirits and dispels debuffs. Cons: Drains mana at an explosive rate.]
[Shadow Daggers. Pros: Grants the Shadow Affinity and also increases speed and damage. Cons: May cause blindness after extreme usage.]
[Death Note: Can kill instantly by writing the name of the target. Pros: Stress-free long-distance assassination. Cons: Every name written shaves 50 years off the host’s lifespan.]
[Swift Boots. Pros: Increases speed. Cons: None.]
[Love Potion. Pros: Anyone who partakes of this potion will fall deeply in love with the host. Cons: The host might lose his sanity.]
[Mana Stone. Pros: The host gains increased mana for a period of six hours. Cons: Slight fatigue.]
