Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Undead Desert Warrior
The two undead charging towards him were much more muscular than his level 10 subject and larger. The weapon that they had was different and their bodies were covered in a thick layer of armor instead of bandages.
One of them had an axe while the other had a spear. His eyes lingered on them and he mumbled.
"Scan."
Words flashed before his eyes.
(Name: Undead Desert Warrior
Level: 12)
(Name: Undead Desert Warrior
Level: 12)
"Level is even higher."
The level was even higher than his own subject... this wasn’t going to be easy.
Riven took a deep breath and lunged towards the incoming undead. He exchanged countless blows with them in a matter of seconds, blades colliding and producing a sound that sounded metallic but wasn’t.
The undead attacked him fiercely but they lacked something that was crucial and that was coordination making their attacks hit one another’s weapons.
He seized this opportunity and tried to drive one of his blades into its chest but before it could even touch its body another undead appeared and blocked his attack.
This undead body was also covered in armor. It wielded an axe instead.
Together, they launched a barrage of strikes in a heartbeat. Even with a buff, he was being forced backwards. He had to do something... quickly.
That’s when his gaze landed on his subject who was fighting far away from him. He issued a mental command.
"Abandon everything and provide me with cover."
His subject obeyed without hesitation but in a way that he didn’t like. It charged straight towards him without even bothering to block the attacks of the undead around it.
His subject’s armor cracked and wounds formed on its body from which blue sand leaked out. If this kept up then his subject would be killed and as a consequence, he would lose sealing power which would cause his sealing power to decrease.
Furthermore, nearly a dozen undead were following his subject as it came closer to him. Maybe, his subject coming to help will do more harm than good.
So after careful consideration, Riven issued another command mentally.
"Stay where you are and keep the undead busy by fighting them."
His subject halted its steps. In an instant, it went into full defensive mode. The bandages wrapped around its body came undone which it used to block the incoming attacks.
When his subject had breathing room, it took a defensive stance and blocked the attacks of any undead that got too close.
For now, his subject was safe. At least, it won’t die immediately.
So Riven focused his attention on the undeads and kept pushing back the undeads but no matter how hard he tried it didn’t work and he kept being pushed backwards. His mind raced as he thought about what to do.
That is when he got an idea.
He created an image of a knee plating that had very pointy and sharp thorns. He channeled mana into one of his knees and manifested the plating.
Without wasting his time, he drove the knee covered in the plating into the axeman’s body while pushing backwards. The axeman didn’t move an inch, but the plating dissolved into an aura that entered its body through the wound.
The axeman stopped pushing and staggered a few steps backwards as the area around the wound became stiff. Riven pushed the remaining undead back with all his strength and they staggered a few steps back and currently, they were confused.
So he seized this opportunity and drove one blade straight into the chest of the axeman undead. His blade passed through its body and started to turn into a blue aura which sank deep into its body made up of sand.
Around the wound, sand leaked out which was carried by the desert wind. The blade dissolved into a blue aura that traveled inside its body.
Then blue aura emerged around its wound which started to spread across its body slowly but surely and steadily spreading across it’s body. Before anyone could react, a blue aura exploded from it’s body blinding his vision for a moment.
Then the system whispered into his ears.
(You have gained a subject!)
(You have gained 3 sealing power!)
The blue aura cleared almost instantly and he regained his vision...
The axeman stood now its eyes were hollow, its entire body covered in a blue aura and its head was lower, facing his direction. The other undead halted their attacks as they stared at one of their kind in confusion.
Riven knew that he could use this confusion, so he issued a command to his new subject.
"Pin one of the undead down!"
The axeman obeyed and struck the swordsman undead with its axe. Before the swordsman undead could even react, the axe had sunk deep into its body.
Riven manifested a rod in his hand but before he could throw it. He noticed something that made his eyes widen in disbelief. Blue aura traveled from the axeman’s axe and traveled deep into the body of the swordsman.
Not only that, the area around the wound got engulfed in a blue aura and became stiff.
Then the system whispered into his ears.
(Your subject is requesting mana from you.)
(Accept request?)
"Accept."
He didn’t question it because he wanted to find out what happened next. Was what he was thinking right or wrong?
If it was right then that would change everything...
The axeman pulled its axe from its body and drew it behind its body before striking the swordsmanundead again. As if drawn backwards, the axe was engulfed in a thick layer of blue aura that seemed to be bubbling.
A heartbeat later, the axeman swung the axe forward with explosive force and the axe landed on the samurai’s body cleanly. It tore through its armor and drove deep into its body.
The blue aura engulfing the axe, traveled into its body. Then a blue aura appeared around its wound which rapidly spread around the swordsman’s body. A heartbeat later, the swordsman’s movements became sitff until it stopped moving completely.
Then a blue aura exploded from it blinding his vision like always. The system whispered into his ears.
(You have gained a subject!)
(You have gained 3 sealing power!)
(You have leveled up!)
(Your mana reserves have increased)
(Current Mana Reserve: 144/225)
(Current level: 3)
