Chapter 385: Chapter 385: Just How Depraved

"I’m not sure if he’s a good person, which is why I want to ask you to pull his file for me. If that’s too much trouble, I can just hack into your system and find it myself..."

Claire’s voice lacked conviction on that last part.

Aiden Howkins chuckled. "Just a personal file? That’s easy. Leave it to me. By the way, when do you need it?"

"Now," Claire Sinclair said.

"Alright, give me ten minutes." Aiden Howkins immediately turned and ran off in perfect form.

Claire Sinclair found a seat in the cafeteria. Ten minutes later, Aiden Howkins returned right on time, holding a few sheets of paper.

He handed the papers to Claire Sinclair. "Young Madam, this guy’s whole life is on here. He’s got quite a record, but it’s all just petty stuff. The police can’t really do much about him."

Claire Sinclair nodded and quickly scanned the documents.

"Jesse Wallace, 26, unemployed..." The file was very detailed, even including disputes he’d had with his neighbors. After reading it, Claire Sinclair had a good grasp of the situation.

Aiden Howkins couldn’t help but ask, "Young Madam, why are you looking for this person?"

"It’s nothing, just for work. Thanks, I’ll be heading back now."

With that said, Claire Sinclair turned to leave.

Aiden Howkins called out to her, "Young Madam, aren’t you going to see Young Master Quincy before you go?"

"No, I don’t want to disturb his work. I’ll see him tonight."

’Tonight? Heh heh...’ Aiden thought. ’I think I know what that means!’

_

After leaving Quincy Manor, Claire Sinclair returned to Evergreen Garden. She powered on both of her laptops, ready to get to work.

Fortunately, with most of the internet now requiring real-name registration, Claire Sinclair easily found all of Jesse Wallace’s social media accounts.

Sifting through Jesse Wallace’s online history, she traced it back to the night of Yvonne Judd’s incident six months ago and actually found a crucial clue!

In one of Jesse Wallace’s group chats, she found a vile chat log where a group of people shared their "thoughts" after they had assaulted Yvonne Judd that night.

There were seven people in total. One of them hadn’t even been an adult six months ago and was Yvonne Judd’s classmate. The rest were all unemployed freeloaders like Jesse Wallace.

Unfortunately, this chat log still wasn’t enough to serve as evidence for murder.

Following the trail, Claire Sinclair investigated everyone in the group chat one by one. She finally found a video in one of their cloud storage drives.

It was filmed by an eighth person who was there on the night of the incident. This person didn’t participate in the assault but watched the entire thing and recorded it.

To Claire Sinclair’s horror, this person was a woman—and she was Yvonne Judd’s step-sister.

Fuck.

It was the first time in her life Claire Sinclair had ever cursed.

This video was more than enough to bring these vile perpetrators to justice, but Claire Sinclair felt it wasn’t enough.

This was a long-premeditated conspiracy. She had to write out the entire story, cause and effect, to let the world know just how utterly depraved Yvonne Judd’s adoptive family was.

’No, that’s still not enough!’

’Just a wall of text won’t hold the readers’ attention.’

’That’s it, Astoria Television!’

Claire Sinclair had a new idea. She needed Astoria Television to do a follow-up report, but she still had to get her own written version ready.

Before that, however, she had to make another trip to Quincy Manor.

She was worried the local police wouldn’t cooperate, so she could only ask Aiden Howkins to step in.

Claire Sinclair copied all the useful evidence onto a USB drive, grabbed Yvonne Judd’s diary, and headed back to Quincy Manor.
