Chapter 360: Chapter 360: Preferably the Same Layout as Your Boyfriend
The Blue Cafe.
Claire Sinclair deliberately chose a table by the window. Every move they made would be in plain sight for anyone outside, which was perfect for the paparazzi to get their fill of photos.
After ordering, Ethan Kingsley gazed at her calm and composed face, his eyes glinting with a smile. "Star Reporter Sinclair, you certainly know how to pick a place. The coffee here is quite good."
"Is that so? I rarely drink coffee. Do you enjoy it, Mr. Kingsley?"
"I wouldn’t say I enjoy it, but I drink it to stay awake. You often work overtime. Don’t you need a pick-me-up?"
Claire Sinclair gently shook her head. "I don’t usually get sleepy."
’If I’m too tired at night, I’ll sleep in so late the next day that I can’t even get up.’
Ethan Kingsley said meaningfully, "It seems your boyfriend takes very good care of you."
Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Kingsley, I don’t want to waste any more of your time. Can we begin the interview?"
"Alright, let’s begin." Ethan Kingsley shifted into a more relaxed posture, waiting for her to start asking questions.
Claire Sinclair took an interview outline from her bag and handed it to him. "These are the questions I’ll be asking, Mr. Kingsley. You can take a look first."
Ethan Kingsley took the outline, glanced over it, and asked casually, "How many pages are you planning to give me?"
"How many pages would you like, Mr. Kingsley?"
"Preferably the same number of pages as your boyfriend."
Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "Text alone can’t fill an entire page. Would you like to be photographed for it, Mr. Kingsley?"
Ethan Kingsley looked up slightly, a smile playing on his lips. "I can be photographed. How much will it cost?"
"Promoting public service is free."
"That’s too much of a loss for you. In the past, any media that interviewed me would take a sum of money. By not taking any, you’re kind of breaking your industry’s rules."
Claire Sinclair’s expression turned serious. "Those are *their* rules. I don’t have such unwritten rules. If you give me money, it’s a bribe, and that’s unacceptable. Mr. Kingsley, you’re a presidential candidate. I hope you won’t condone this sort of chaos. Or are you saying you only engage in public service for personal gain? If that’s the case, I might as well not write this feature at all."
Ethan Kingsley’s mind went blank for a moment. Few people in the world dared to lecture him to his face. She wasn’t the first, but she was the first to make him feel a sense of shame.
’This girl is really interesting. She actually managed to strike a chord.’
"Reporter Sinclair’s lecture is spot on. I was wrong. Please, don’t be angry." Ethan Kingsley put on an expression of someone who knew they had made a mistake.
Claire Sinclair let out a soft breath and softened her tone. "I’m not angry. I’m just speaking seriously with you. Mr. Kingsley, whether it’s you or Mr. Quincy, whoever ends up in that position, I hope you can make this country stronger so that the people can live in peace and prosperity. I became a reporter to help more people see the good in society, not to let it be shrouded in darkness."
"Alright, alright, if you keep going, I might just have to commit seppuku," Ethan Kingsley said, quickly trying to stop her.
’I always knew this girl had a strong sense of justice, but I never expected it to be this intense. No wonder Adrian Quincy is taken with her.’
Claire Sinclair muttered under her breath, "As long as Mr. Kingsley doesn’t bring up money, everything will be fine."
"Yes, yes, of course. Let’s begin then."
"Okay. Mr. Kingsley, before the interview, I’d like to ask you a personal question."
Ethan Kingsley smiled. "Since it’s a personal question, I don’t necessarily have to answer, you know."
Claire Sinclair asked bluntly, "I’d like to ask, Mr. Kingsley, if you were to become president, what kind of woman would you want for your First Lady?"
