Chapter 359: Chapter 359: You’re Putting Me in a Difficult Position
Adrian Quincy gave a slight nod, waiting for her to continue.
Claire Sinclair took a soft breath, mustering her courage to say, "I want to get back on your boat, to brave the storms with you. Do you still want me?"
"Claire..." Unable to control his emotions, Adrian Quincy hugged her pliant body tightly, burying his face in the crook of her neck. "I’ve been waiting for you to say that. I will conquer this world for you."
A sweet smile touched Claire Sinclair’s lips, a joy like tasting honey.
Until the man suddenly entered her world, she yelped in surprise, "Again? I’m so tired!"
"Don’t worry. Leave it to me."
"..."
That night, Claire Sinclair witnessed his true stamina for the first time and finally understood what "a man’s boundless energy" really meant.
In short, words could not describe it.
...
As a show of good faith, Claire Sinclair directly dialed Ethan Kingsley’s number.
Unexpectedly, the man answered almost instantly. "Star Reporter Sinclair, what a pleasant surprise. What can I do for you on such a sudden call?"
Claire Sinclair collected her thoughts and said at a measured pace, "It’s like this. Mr. Kingsley, you donated thirty million for the flood disaster in Garlan Town, and I’ve been wanting to do a special feature to raise awareness for the post-disaster reconstruction. So, I was hoping to interview you. I was wondering if you would be willing?"
"Now?"
"Of course not now. Would you be willing, Mr. Kingsley?"
"It’s my duty to help the people in times of disaster. As long as it can encourage more people to join the post-disaster reconstruction efforts, I am more than willing. When would you like to do the interview?"
A pleased smile curved Claire Sinclair’s lips. "Whenever you’re free, Mr. Kingsley. I can work around your schedule."
Ethan Kingsley couldn’t help but chuckle. He could almost picture the naive woman grinning foolishly on the other end of the line.
’He’d always disdained things like charity; it was nothing more than a way to build up his public persona.’
’Still, having the Astoria Daily publish an article about his donation would be a good way to boost his popularity.’
"How about tomorrow?"
"That sounds great. Where should I meet you, Mr. Kingsley?"
"I’ll pick you up from your newspaper office tomorrow."
Claire Sinclair paused for a moment, then nodded. "Alright. Thank you for the trouble, Mr. Kingsley."
After hanging up, Claire Sinclair let out a long sigh of relief.
’She had finally been drawn into this war. She would charge forward, fearless and unyielding!’
「The next day」
Ethan Kingsley drove to the base of Astoria Tower at nine-thirty and gave her a call. "Claire Sinclair, I’m downstairs at your newspaper office."
"I’ll be right down!" Claire Sinclair slung her DSLR camera and her bag over her shoulder and hurried out of the office.
She walked out of the tower, about to ask Ethan Kingsley where his car was parked, when she spotted a flashy white convertible parked right in front of the entrance.
’Is this guy trying to show off his wealth on purpose?’
Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow and deliberately walked slowly over to him. "Mr. Kingsley, I was just planning to do a feature on your charity work, and you show up in such a luxurious car. This puts me in a bit of a difficult position."
Ethan Kingsley feigned a troubled look. "What am I to do? This is the most low-key car in my garage."
"Never mind. I don’t want to waste your precious time, Mr. Kingsley. How about we do the interview at a nearby café?" Claire Sinclair suggested.
’The more crowded the place, the more likely they were to attract the paparazzi’s attention. That was her goal.’
Ethan Kingsley, who prided himself on being a gentleman, naturally complied with a lady’s request. "Then get in the car, Star Reporter Sinclair."
Claire Sinclair nodded, opened the car door, and got in.
The white convertible sped off, and a black van parked on the side of the road hurriedly followed.
