Chapter 39: Do What I Said.
A faint smile tugged at the corner of Kael’s lips, hand travelled down to Sylas’s head as he started patting him. "We’ll take it."
The woman wasted no time and quickly closed the distance between them. Opening the shelf, she carefully pulled out the outfit Kael had pointed at and presented it with a smile.
She showed that to Kael and muttered. "Sir, please look at it now."
He grabbed the piece of cloth from her grip and gave a quite nice look at it. He even showed it to Sylas and said. "Is it good, Sylas?"
Sylas’s eyes started to sparkle even more, jaw dropped lightly as he clapped both of his hands together in sheer excitement. "Yesh, I want this!" he exclaimed.
A faint smile appeared on Kael’s face. He directed the pair towards the woman and continued. "We’ll take this, pack it neatly."
Then, his gaze shifted to Leon, who was standing near the entrance. His head was lowered, his eyes fixed on the floor as he nervously twisted his fingers.
"Leon." Kael’s voice rang through the shop, causing everyone’s attention to turn toward him.
Leon raised his head, looked right at Kael as his eyes widened slightly. "Y-yes, Mansion Lord."
"Come here," Kael called. "Find a set of clothes that catches your eye."
Leon’s gaze traveled towards the saleswoman as he noticed that she was glaring at him. A light groan left through his mouth. "U-uh."
"I’m fine, Mansion Lord... I don’t need anything." Leon said, and turned his head towards the ground once again.
A small sigh escaped through Kael’s mouth. "Just simply do what I said."
Leon hesitated for a bit, but then finally took steps forward towards the male section. When he entered there he noticed that the entire room was filled with mannequins wearing luxurious suits, and some were even kept in shelves placed next to the wall.
Kael and the others also entered the room, but the saleswoman’s expression darkened. Her eyes were filled with undisguised disgust as they fell upon him.
She knew exactly who he was, a lowborn nobody in the eyes of society. The very thought of him touching the expensive garments seemed to offend her.
Leon was about to touch one of the suits, which he had gotten fond of, but before he did, the saleswoman’s voice echoed through the chamber. "Sir, I can help you with that."
She walked towards him, her steps were hurried. Without wasting a second, she grabbed the suit and pulled it off the mannequin, and showed it to Leon.
At first, Leon hesitated, his hand hovering uncertainly in the air. Taking a few deep breaths, he gradually composed himself and reached for the outfit. It was crafted from luxurious cotton, its rich blue fabric both elegant and refined.
He took the suit from the woman’s hand. Leon held the suit closer to him before turning towards Kael. "Mansion Lord," he said quietly, "I’ll take this one."
"Pack both outfits."
The moment he said that, he turned towards the shelves and began going through each item of clothing present there.
He spent the next couple of minutes doing the exact thing, but in the end, wasn’t able to choose anything good for himself.
A small sigh left through his mouth as a thought appeared in his mind. ’I always was bad at choosing stuff, and now it’s even worse than ever.’
But unexpectedly, Sylas pointed toward a nearby mannequin. Draped over it was a magnificent green suit, its fine fabric and elegant design making it stand out among the rest. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"Dad," Sylas said excitedly, pointing at the outfit, "this one will look good on you."
Kael didn’t react in any sort of way to him, but then a faint smile appeared on his face. His gaze turned towards the woman as he continued. "Pack all three outfits, we’ll be taking our leave from here soon."
The saleswoman gave a slight nod, though a small bead of sweat had appeared on her temple. She quickly made her way to the counter and retrieved a large paper bag. Carefully folding the clothes, she placed them inside before setting the package on the main counter.
Sylvia looked at Kael in sheer confusion as she questioned. "What did you mean by that?!"
"By what?"
"Ugh... you said we will leave soon, and I still haven’t selected any dress for myself."
Kael looked at her for a few seconds and then continued. "Only my family and I are invited, and you’re nothing more than a guest in our household."
The moment those words echoed through the chamber, Leon let out a faint chuckle. Quickly raising a hand to his face, he tried to hide his amusement, though the smile tugging at the corners of his lips was impossible to conceal.
A vein popped through her temple, and her gaze remained fixed on Kael. "Family, this family that you’re always talking about, your family."
He didn’t reply to her in any sort of way, simply walked towards the main counter. When he reached there, he asked the saleswoman. "What is the total price for these three outfits?" Kael asked, his gaze settling on the saleswoman.
The woman took a single look at Kael, and the moment she noticed him looking at her. Her cheeks started to turn pink, and heat erupted through her body. A small groan left through her mouth, only audible to her. "EEKKK!!"
She looked at the clothes once more and instantly calculated the amount that the male had to pay. "Uh... it would be three gold coins, sir," she said, failing to look into Kael’s eyes.
"Three gold coins?"
She gave a polite nod in agreement. "Yes, sir."
"Isn’t that rather expensive?" Kael questioned, genuine curiosity evident in his tone.
"It’s the usual—"
Before the woman could finish her sentence, Sylvia’s voice cut through her sentence. She directed her thumb towards her chest and continued. "That’s actually nothing compared to the clothes that I usually wear."
