Chapter 13: Grocery Shopping.

"He’s standing behind me, right?" Leon muttered, body trembled lightly.

He turned his head lightly, his gaze fell on Kael, and his mana was vigorously revolving around him.

Kael walked towards him, gaze staring him down. "Is that how you wake a kid from his sleep?"

He stopped a few steps away as he grabbed Sylas from Leon’s grasp. Kael hugged Sylas, his gaze still fixed on Leon. "Go away, get the food prepared and nicely served."

Leon instinctively nodded and started moving towards the kitchen.

Kael patted Sylas’s head as he whispered in his ear. "Wake up, kid."

"It’s time to eat your food."

Sylas’s eyes started to twitch, raised his hand as he started rubbing his eyes gently. "Mmmm!!" freewёbnoνel.com

One eye opened, gaze fell on Kael, who was looking at him with a stoic look in his eyes. "Mister," Sylas muttered as he directed his hands towards Kael’s cheeks.

An adorable, yet soothing smile tugged Sylas’s lips. "Did I sleep for too long, mister?"

Kael didn’t say anything, but then a gentle smile appeared on his face. "No, you shouldn’t think like that."

"A kid who’s your age should sleep, eat, and play."

"Eat, sleep, and play?" Sylas repeated the exact words.

Kael started walking towards the living room as he nodded. "Yes, you heard it right."

Soon they both reached the living room, and Leon was already there. The entire hall was filled with the savoury smell of delicious food.

A huge table was kept in the middle of the room, and there were countless food dishes placed onto it.

Sylas’s eyes started to glitter, mouth opened as a drop of drool dropped through his mouth. "Wowww~ that’s a lot."

"You’ve prepared quite a lot," Kael said, looking at Leon. freewebnoveℓ.com

Leon, who was standing next to the table, had clothes that looked ragged because of all the work he put in making all this. "Yes, sir, it was quite difficult to do this, but in the end, you’re letting me live in here."

"Fuck!! I almost died making all this. I’m doing the chores just because this place is the safest place on earth for me."

A bunch of thoughts were revolving in his mind, but still he managed to keep a gentle smile on his face.

Kael gently placed Sylas over a chair and placed a plate in front of him. "Leon, serve him and yourself some food."

Leon tilted his head slightly. "And what about you, sir?"

"Do what I told you to," Kael said as he sat next to Sylas’s chair.

He took a plate, placed a few pieces of nicely cooked mutton, and a portion of bread that was tossed with fresh honey.

Leon served food on Sylas’s plate, and also for himself. Then all three of them started eating, and while eating, no one said anything.

The only thing that they all focused on was food. Sylas was making adorable noises while eating his meal. "Mister white eye, this food is delicious~."

A smile appeared on Leon’s face. "Thank you for the compliment, Sylas."

When they all finished eating, Kael looked at Leon. "You know what to do, right?"

Leon suddenly stood up. Without saying a word, he picked up the plates, walked toward the kitchen, and began washing the dishes.

Kael’s gaze shifted towards Sylas, who was already looking at him with a glimmering look in his eyes.

"You want to play?"

Sylas gave a gentle nod and hugged Kael’s arm. "Yes, mister."

A small, gentle smile tugged at Kael’s lips as he muttered. "Let Leon come, then I’ll let you play with him."

"What will you do, mister?" Sylas asked, as he tilted his head lightly.

"I’ll go and take a small nap."

While they were both talking, Leon came back after washing the dishes. His clothes were slightly wet with washing water. He looked at Sylas, then at Kael. "Why are you both looking at me?"

"Play with him while I take a small nap," Kael said as he got back up.

Kael started walking towards his room, leaving both of them behind. Leon looked at Kael leave, and then shifted his gaze to Sylas, who was already looking at him with a pleasant look in his eyes.

A bead of sweat tugged his temple as he muttered. "I hope everything goes well, or else that man will bury me alive."

He walked over to Sylas and picked him up in his arms before carrying him to the garden.

There was a swing in the garden, suspended by two ropes tied around a berry tree. Leon placed Sylas on the swing and gently began pushing him back and forth.

A bright smile had appeared on Sylas’s face, his eyes had shut close as he started enjoying the moment. "Yayyyy!!! Faster, mister white."

"You want me to do it even faster, huh?"

"You’ll not have to ask me twice for it, Sylas." He said as he started pushing a bit faster.

Sylas’s chuckles grew louder, his happiness soon filling the entire surroundings.

They both continued for a good amount of time, but then a sudden thought came to Leon’s mind. "While cooking the food, I remember that we ran out of groceries."

"I think I should go grocery shopping for tonight’s dinner."

He grabbed the edge of the swing and brought it to a stop. "Sylas, I need to go to the market and buy some things for tonight."

Sylas turned his head slightly and tilted it in confusion. "You’re going to leave me alone?"

Leon gulped when he saw the look in Sylas’s eyes. "Oh gosh... his eyes are sparkling way too much for me to refuse."

A sigh escaped his lips before he finally gave in. "Let’s go together, Sylas."

Sylas quickly ran towards Leon, opened his arms wide, indicating to Leon to pick him up. "Let’s go, mister white."

A faint smile appeared on Leon’s face as he leaned in closer and picked Sylas up in his arms. He gently patted his head and said. "Yes, we’ll leave right away."

He walked toward the gate, and as he passed through it, he closed it gently behind him so as not to wake Kael from his short nap.

They both made their way towards the city, while walking, Sylas’s eyes kept lingering on the things around them; he was praising the beauty of the untouched nature.

A thought came to Leon’s mind as he chuckled lightly. "He really is a kid."
