Chapter 72: 72:Back home.
Night had fallen by the time Delta-3 finally appeared. Floodlights illuminated reinforced battlements as they gave sight to the returning contractors.
The gates opened and the vehicle entered. Ravenna stirred the moment he finished clearing and started his drive to her hotel.
Silver glanced at her, meeting her sleep-coated eyes.
"How was your sleep?" He asked.
She stretched a little before settling back down.
"I never thought I could fall asleep that easily," she said glancing at him," you must be tired?"
Silver shrugged.
"Just a little. I have a consistent sleep schedule so I wouldn’t have been able to fall asleep, even with you driving."
She nodded, her gaze going outside. A bout of silence passed before she spoke again.
"How do you think Mallory would act when she finds out that I got an elemental as my foundation beast?" She asked excitedly.
Silver could feel her excitement from a mile away. He chuckled at that.
"She’ll be ecstatic," he quietly said," probably lift you to the moon."
She stared at him for a moment then laughed out loud. The sound was melodious to Silver’s ears.
"That is true," she turned to him fully a smile still on her lips," thank you... Thank you for helping me with this. I’m not even sure if I could have been able to get a beast this good if it wasn’t for your help, thanks so much. You’ve really helped more than you know. I don’t know what I would have done without you."
She looked down at her hands her smile slowly vanishing.
"I was going to just settle for a speed or strength beast since they were the most common but... ha..." she took a deep shaky breath before she continued," I don’t want to cry again but...But I don’t know how to explain how good it feels right?"
Silver silently drove, as she tried to put her thoughts into words.
"You don’t have to thank me," he said touching her arm," You’ve got to give yourself some credit don’t pull your efforts down just because... you’ve worked hard to get where you are there is no need to give me all that credit I was just a small push in that direction nothing more."
He softly squeezed her hand before continuing.
"I might have helped, but who killed the fire wolf?"
Ravenna was silent for a moment before she responded," I did."
Silver nodded.
"Who went through all that pain to integrate it?"
She sniffed slightly," I did."
The vehicle slowly pulled into the already crowded parking lot. Silver luckily found a spot and packed the car before fully turning to her.
"If you hadn’t told me to go into that tunnel we would never have found that elemental, " he calmly said," so give yourself some credit. Just remember you’re a very strong woman."
She stared at him for a few seconds before bursting into laughter accompanied by sniffling.
"I don’t know why, but I needed to hear that."
Silver smiled. "Any time."
She nodded and leaned back on her chair as she tried to compose herself. Then Ravenna looked toward him, and a faint smile appeared.
"Today was really fun."
Silver blinked. Fun? How had the somber atmosphere disappeared so fast?
Yet somehow, he understood exactly what she meant.
"Yeah."
His answer came quietly.
"It was... fun."
The smile widened slightly then she opened the door. Before leaving she briefly hesitated, then spoke.
"Thank you. I know I shouldn’t say it again, but I just can’t stop saying it." freeweɓnovel.cѳm
The words were simple, yet they still carried far more weight than they appeared.
Silver smiled.
"Get stronger."
Ravenna rolled her eyes.
"You too."
Then she disappeared into the hotel. Silver watched until she entered safely, only afterward did he finally drive away.

.
The Ruddington Estate remained brightly lit despite the late hour. Servants moved through the grounds and security patrols continued their routines, everything appeared normal.
Silver parked and exited the vehicle. He wanted nothing more than his bed and sleep his exhaustion away. But he knew he had to excise first before going to bed. The thought was already giving him a headache but destroying his routine would have felt worse.
Unfortunately, life had other plans. The moment he entered the estate’s main building, Sanders approached.
He bowed.
"Young Master."
Silver already knew he wasn’t bringing good news.
"What is it?"
"Your Tenth Uncle requests your presence."
Silver stopped, immediately alert. His exhaustion vanished.
The Tenth Uncle.
The Tenth Uncle’s son, Lucian Ruddington, happened to be the talented cousin recently engaged to Cruella. The same cousin who had suddenly gained significant standing within the family. The same branch of the family currently benefiting from that engagement.
Silver’s instincts stirred, something felt terribly wrong.
"Must it be now?"
"Immediately."
Silver suppressed a sigh. His bed continued moving further away. He gestured to Sanders.
"Let’s go then. I wish to sleep early today," he arrogantly said, "I hope it’s worth my time."
He saw the man’s eyes twitch but he didn’t care.
Several minutes later he stood inside a private study. The Tenth Uncle sat behind a desk. Except during the awakening ceremony, he was a calm man, usually smiling and pleasant.
Tonight he looked dangerously thoughtful. Silver already understood that this wasn’t a social visit. The older man gestured toward a chair.
"Sit."
Silver obeyed. He crossed his legs, his left over the right, and leaned back, almost arrogantly.
Tea sat untouched between them, neither reached for it. Several moments of silence passed.
Then the tenth uncle finally spoke.
"How was the hunt?"
"It was fine."
The older man nodded.
"Congratulations on your recommendation."
Silver nodded then arrogantly said.
"It was expected," he said nonchalantly, " I’ve always been talented, right Sander?"
He glanced at the man who was standing by the door. His eyes twitched before he bowed slightly.
"Yes, young master."
Silver smirked." See, Sander always says I’m better than everyone else."
He could see his uncle was slowly losing the pleasant smile, so he stopped.
"Why did you call me here uncle, are you congratulating me or asking me to take care of Lucian," he said then flatly added," I can’t do that since he stole the love of my life. I’m still heartbroken and trying to move on, I can’t see the two of them now."
The Tenth Uncle hurriedly corrected.
"You don’t have to worry about that Silver, " he said, "I apologise on his behalf. "
Silver shrugged. " It’s okay, I’ll find another girlfriend. And I’ll get married to her this time."
"Ha...haha... Really, I wish you good luck with your endeavours. Don’t forget to bring her to your uncle to bless you."
Silver forced a laugh. As if he’ll ever bring Ravenna to this wolf den.
"I’ll think about it," he said. He looked around the room before turning his attention back to his uncle," Is there something else?"
The conversation continued, filled with small talk and harmless questions, meaningless observations. The sort of discussion older relatives used when circling a topic, eventually they arrived at the actual reason.
His uncle leaned back slightly.
"That box..."
Silver kept his expression neutral.
"What box?"
"The one the young lady returned."
