Chapter 134: Sixty-fifth Floor

"Where?" Leon asked immediately.

"Inside the place you call the Delvan Tower."

"You can take me there without even going through the gate?"

"Yes. That place seems to contain a massive formation connecting nearly a hundred transportation gates. Each gate leads to a different location, yet they’re all connected to one another."

"I see... That actually makes sense." Leon nodded. "Every country has a permanent gate like the Delvan Tower, where hunters venture not only to train but also in hopes of obtaining treasures. According to researchers who have studied mana and radiation, the Delvan Tower has one hundred floors. Or rather, one hundred levels. In all of history, the strongest team from Delvan has only managed to clear the fifty-second floor. Nobody knows what lies beyond that... or what will happen if someone eventually clears all one hundred floors. Because even worldwide, the highest floor any team has ever reached in their own country is only the sixty-third."

Inside Leon’s soul sanctuary, Noira and Fenrir exchanged a knowing glance.

Then Noira spoke again. "I can take you directly to any floor up to the seventieth."

"Really?" Leon’s eyes lit up. "That’s fantastic. Even without using fusion, this solves one of my biggest problems. If I can enter the Delvan Tower whenever I want, I won’t need a hunter license anymore. To sharpen my skills and learn more spells, I need real battles. To grow stronger, I need monster cores. And I need to earn money as well. For those, I have to enter gates. But not having a hunter license was becoming a huge obstacle."

A grin spread across Leon’s face. "But if I can enter the Delvan Tower anytime I want... Then that problem is completely solved."

Leon’s mood instantly brightened. This news excited him even more than the prospect of fusion itself.

"Which floor do you think I should go to if I want to test Fusion?"

"Any floor between the sixty-fifth and seventieth should be fine. The number of beasts will vary, but the strongest one should be at Peak Martial Grandmaster level."

"Peak Martial Grandmaster?" Leon muttered. "That’s equivalent to which hunter rank?"

Ding!

A notification suddenly appeared before him.

[Peak Martial Grandmaster realm is equivalent to peak Disaster-Class.]

"Peak Disaster Class..." Leon whispered. "That’s the highest level of power. There are only five Disaster-Class hunters in the entire world... And I’m about to fight something on that level?"

Instead of fear, excitement flashed across his eyes. His blood churned as his battle hunger kicked in. The grin on his face widened.

"Then let’s get going. Let’s try Fusion."

"Of course, Master. I will be taking you to the sixty-fifth floor then."

The space before Leon suddenly distorted once more. Ripples spread across the air before a spatial rift silently opened.

Without the slightest hesitation, Leon stepped inside, completely forgetting that he was supposed to return to college.

The moment he emerged from the other side...

An overwhelming pressure crashed into him like a tidal wave, nearly forcing him to his knees.

Leon gritted his teeth and stood his ground. He found himself standing in a place that looked ancient, as though it belonged to another world.

Towering buildings surrounded him, but they were unlike anything he had ever seen on Earth.

Instead of being built from bricks or concrete, they appeared to have been carved from enormous masses of stone. Their smooth, curved walls flowed naturally into one another, while spiral staircases, rounded windows, arched doorways, and balconies seemed to grow directly out of the structures themselves.

The entire place looked both ancient and mysterious, as if it had stood there since the beginning of time.

Leon didn’t have to wait longer. From five different directions... Five figures slowly emerged.

One had the head of a lion, surrounded by thick fur. It was carrying a massive spear in one hand and a round shield in the other. Its body was covered in heavy black armor.

The second one had the head of a ram with enormous curled horns. A long tail extended behind it as it wielded a huge double-bladed axe.

The third resembled a gigantic crab standing upright. Its right oversized crimson claw looked like a deadly weapon, while the other arm was normal in size and carrying a sturdy shield.

The fourth was a pair of enormous serpent-like fish intertwined around one another, their blue-purple scales shimmering as they floated above the ground with glowing eyes.

The last one had the head of a shark atop a muscular humanoid body, its broad shoulders and powerful physique radiating overwhelming strength.

None of them were particularly large like the A-Class or S-Class monsters Leon had encountered before. They stood only around two meters tall.

Yet the aura they radiated was suffocating, as though the very air had turned heavy under their presence. The space seemed to distort slightly. freёwebnovel.com

The five monsters didn’t growl like wild beasts driven by instinct. Instead, they remained calm as they slowly advanced toward Leon. With each step, Leon felt like he was being buried inside the ground. Even breathing was becoming a struggle.

"So that’s what Disaster class monsters feel like. Even just standing tall before them seems like a fight on its own." Leon murmured through gritted teeth. "If even a single one of them is allowed to venture into the earth, it won’t take a minute for an entire country to cease to exist."

Just then, Fenrir stepped out of Leon’s Soul Sanctuary.

"Master, it’s time. We should fuse before they decide to attack."

"Sure." Leon nodded. "But how do we do it?"

"You will have to stand behind me and place your palm on my back, Master. Then..." Fenrir paused briefly. "You only need to say one word.

Fusion.

The one who speaks that word will retain their personality and consciousness after the fusion."

"I see."

Fenrir walked forward and stopped right in front of Leon. "Now, master."

Leon slowly raised his right hand and placed it on Fenrir’s back. He closed his eyes, calming his breathing and steadying his thoughts.

Then...

"Fusion."
