Chapter 129: One Out Of Three

The next morning...

The sun rose over the horizon, its golden rays streaming through the window and falling gently across Leon’s face.

Leon slowly opened his eyes. He raised one hand and looked at the clearly defined veins beneath his skin. "I just hope I don’t wake up one day and realize all of this was nothing more than a beautiful dream." ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

A faint smile appeared on his lips. "Because the reality would feel like a nightmare."

He slowly got out of bed. Twisting his waist to loosen his body, he let his feet touch the floor.

Then he raised his right palm.

"The demon core." The moment the command left his lips, a crimson crystal nearly one-third the size of his palm materialized on his palm.

Dense red miasma pulsed within the crystal as though it possessed a life of its own. This was the demon core. The very object he had fought so desperately to obtain. The very reason he had pushed himself beyond his limits to comprehend the demon purging aura.

Saving everyone was certainly important.

But this...

This was what had driven him to surpass his limits.

After Leon killed the demon yesterday, the demon core was automatically transported into his system storage.

Leon slowly lifted the demon core before his eyes, quietly observing the crimson crystal.

"I wonder if I can devour this as well. And if I can... just how much Qi will it give me?"

"You can definitely devour it, Master." Noira’s voice suddenly echoed inside his mind.

"Your physique is special. It allows you to devour virtually any resource and refine it instantly."

Leon froze. "Wait. You know about my physique too?" He looked genuinely bewildered.

"Who exactly are you two? I mean... seriously. You were calling me ’Master’ long before we even formed the bond. You were willing to risk your lives for me. And now... Now you’re telling me you even know about my physique?"

Noira fell silent.

"What?" Leon frowned. "Don’t pretend you didn’t hear what I asked. Just tell me already."

A moment of silence passed. Then Frenrir spoke.

"Master, we truly mean you no harm." His voice was calm and respectful. "But we can’t answer those questions. Not yet. And when the time comes for you to know... You won’t even have to ask. It’s all for the sake of your proper growth. So, please be patient. And... please don’t put us in a difficult position by asking about these matters."

Leon remained silent for a while. In the end, he simply nodded.

"I’ll wait then."

He let out a quiet sigh. "I just hope I won’t regret it." ’Finally, I have at least one of the ingredients needed to prepare Mom’s pill. Who knows when I’ll find the remaining two?’ Leon mused.

He then quickly freshened up before having breakfast with Jenny. Afterward, he headed toward his college.

"Only ten days left until the finals." He murmured to himself as he walked. "I should spend these remaining days focusing on my studies. And whenever I’m free, I’ll practice the sword forms. There’s no telling which form I’ll need in the future."

The college wasn’t far from his home.

Before long, Leon arrived at the main gate.

Just as he was about to step inside...

A hand suddenly grabbed his shoulder and pulled him backward.

Leon immediately turned around.

The person standing behind him was none other than Henry.

"What are you doing?" Leon asked, startled.

"Don’t go inside," Henry said hurriedly. "Nick’s looking for you."

Leon frowned. "Nick? Which Nick are you talking about? And why would he be looking for me?"

Henry sighed. "It’s because of Cecilia. She broke up with Nick, saying she doesn’t love him anymore. Nick wasn’t happy with it at all. That was already bad enough. But, then, right in the middle of all that, Cecilia’s roommate leaked to Nick that she actually has feelings for you now. And that’s why she wanted to break up with Nick."

Henry rubbed his forehead. "So now Nick thinks you’re trying to steal his girlfriend."

Leon looked speechless. "Seriously??? But I never hit on anyone’s girlfriend. I proposed her a few times, yes. But that was way before she started dating. And after she rejected me in front of the whole class, I never even thought about her. Much less hit on her when she was in a relationship. What does any of this have to do with me?"

Henry gave him a helpless look. "Good luck convincing Nick of that."

Leon shrugged. "Whatever. Let’s just go to class."

Henry’s eyes widened. "Are you insane?"

He quickly grabbed Leon’s arm again. "Nick and four other guys are waiting for you inside. I heard three of them are actually registered hunters. One C-Class. Two D-Class. You may have gotten stronger recently, but there’s no way you can take all five of them at once."

He looked at Leon seriously. "Just leave. Don’t come to college for the next few days."

Leon chuckled at Henry’s worried expression. "You didn’t forget about that sudden dungeon gate at the restaurant already, did you?"

Henry froze for a moment. Then he burst into laughter. "Haha! I almost forgot, bro." He shook his head with a grin. "You aren’t the same Leon Bale anymore. But still. Are you sure you can handle all of them by yourself? One of them is even a C-Class Hunter."

"Just let them come." Leon replied calmly. "You’ll see."

This time, Leon playfully grabbed Henry’s neck and pushed him toward the college building. "Now, let’s go."

The two walked in, took the stairs to the second floor and soon arrived outside their classroom.

Just as Leon was about to step inside...

"Leon!"

An angry voice echoed from behind. Leon slowly turned around. A young man about his age, dressed in the same college uniform, was glaring at him. Veins bulged across his forehead.

Four more people stood behind him.

It was Nick. He slowly walked toward Leon before stopping just a hair’s breadth away, staring directly into his eyes.

"You bastard. You’ve got some nerve."
