Chapter 24: Chapter 24: The Tension of Love and Secrets

"Huh? What did Grace say earlier?" Ryutaro asked.

"She said she allows me to become one of your women," Miyuki replied.

"And you’re okay with that?" Ryutaro asked.

"If you allow it, then I’m fine with it," Miyuki answered.

Ryutaro went silent, processing this unexpected response.

"Give me some time to think about it," Ryutaro said.

"Alright, I’ll wait. I’m going to the training room now," Miyuki said.

"Okay, then. See you later, Miyuki," Ryutaro replied.

Miyuki quickly left the garden and headed toward the training room, leaving Ryutaro alone in the garden.

"What happened last night? I need to ask Grace about this," Ryutaro thought to himself.

Ryutaro left the garden and made his way to the dining room.

In the Dining Room

Upon arriving, Ryutaro found Grace, Aurelia, and Charlotte laughing while Alice’s parents smiled at her, who seemed a little embarrassed.

Once seated, Ryutaro asked Grace what was going on before he arrived at the dining room.

"What’s happening here?" Ryutaro asked.

Grace explained what had transpired in the dining room before Ryutaro arrived.

"So, you mean to say the queen told Alice that, and because of her words, Alice became embarrassed?" Ryutaro asked.

"Yes, that’s what happened," Grace confirmed.

Then, King Gilbert, sitting at the center of the table, asked Ryutaro for his opinion about Alice.

"So, Ryutaro, what do you think of my daughter?" asked Alice’s father.

"She’s a good person and fun to be around, but don’t you have any issues giving her to me just like that? I’m an outsider," Ryutaro replied.

"It’s not a problem as long as you’re a good person," King Albert said.

"That’s right. As long as you’re trustworthy, we can be at ease knowing she’s with you," Alice’s father added.

"Then, give me some time to think about it," Ryutaro said.

Seeing Ryutaro seemingly overwhelmed by the situation, his three wives, sitting beside him, couldn’t help but laugh at his predicament.

After a while, Ryutaro asked Grace about what had happened the previous night.

"By the way, Grace, what did you tell Miyuki last night?" Ryutaro asked.

"Oh, you’ve met with her," Grace said.

Grace then explained what happened the previous night.

"Last night, when I was going to the bathroom, I happened to see Miyuki crying alone in the garden. I approached her and asked why she was crying. She said she had feelings for you but was sad to learn that you already had women with you. I comforted her by saying that if she had feelings for you, she should express them. I also told her that I had allowed her to join your harem. When she heard that, she wiped away her tears and looked at me in surprise. She asked for my name, and I told her. As I was about to leave, I thanked her for always supporting you when you were being bullied," Grace recounted.

Aurelia and Charlotte were both shocked by Grace’s words.

"Wait, we didn’t hear about this. Why didn’t you tell us earlier?" Aurelia said.

"I’m fine with it, as long as Ryutaro doesn’t play favorites," Charlotte said.

"I’m okay with it too, as long as he remembers that a man can have more than one wife. I’m happy enough," Aurelia said.

"So, what do you think, dear? Will you accept her?" Grace asked.

Upon hearing Grace’s question, Ryutaro quickly responded.

"Not yet. I told her to give me some time," Ryutaro said.

"Alright, but try to give her an answer soon before she changes her mind," Grace said.

Ryutaro could only sigh at the two proposals now on his plate.

In the Training Room

Miyuki, who had just arrived at the training room, was brimming with excitement as she awaited Ryutaro’s answer.

"I can’t wait to hear Ryutaro’s answer," Miyuki thought.

Shohei, noticing Miyuki’s smile, asked what had her so happy.

"You’ve arrived, Miyuki?" Shohei asked.

"Oh, it’s you, Shohei. What’s up?" Miyuki replied.

"Nothing much. I’m just waiting for someone’s answer," Shohei said.

"Answer for what?" Shohei asked.

"I confessed to someone earlier, and now I’m waiting for their answer," Miyuki explained.

Shohei’s expression changed drastically, as though he knew exactly who Miyuki had confessed to.

"Who is it?" Shohei asked.

"It’s Ryutaro," Miyuki replied.

Upon hearing the name Ryutaro, Shohei’s expression darkened.

"Ryutaro, huh?" Shohei muttered.

"Yes, that’s right," Miyuki confirmed.

"Why? Why would you confess to someone like him? You know, I once confessed to you, but you turned me down. Now you’re confessing to him?" Shohei asked, frustrated.

"It’s because there’s a special reason why I like him and not you. You’re strong, but you don’t have the same qualities as Ryutaro," Miyuki explained.

"Qualities? Do you even know that he’s a bastard with a harem of women?!" Shohei shouted.

"Of course, I know. In fact, one of his women even gave me permission to join," Miyuki said.

Before Shohei could respond, their instructor arrived.

"Ryutaro, just wait. You humiliated me last night, and now you’re stealing the woman I like," Shohei thought to himself.

Back with Ryutaro

After the meal, Ryutaro turned to Alice’s father and asked a crucial question.

"By the way, Your Majesty, have you figured out who poisoned you?" Ryutaro asked.

"No, we haven’t found out yet. We’re still investigating," Alice’s father replied.

"Do you suspect anyone, Your Majesty?" Ryutaro asked.

"As for suspicion, I do have someone in mind," Alice’s father said.

"Who is it?" Ryutaro asked.

"Prime Minister Oswald," Alice’s father replied.

"Who is he, Your Majesty?" Ryutaro asked.

Alice answered before her father could.

"He’s our prime minister. On the surface, he seems like a good person, but when my father destroyed a corrupt noble, he seemed very angry, though he hid his expression," Alice explained.

Alice’s father continued.

"Not only that, but when I returned to the noble’s house for an investigation, I accidentally found a letter addressed to him. Unfortunately, the letter was written in a foreign language that we don’t understand," Alice’s father said.

"So, you suspect that the letter might be connected to the poisoning, right?" Ryutaro asked.

"That’s what we suspect," Alice’s father replied.

Just as their conversation ended, one of the soldiers rushed in.

"Your Majesty, there’s an envoy from Celestia outside," the soldier reported.

King Gilbert sighed deeply at the news of the envoy’s arrival.

Why has the Celestian envoy come to the Rosette Kingdom? And why did King Gilbert sigh? What will Shohei do about his unrequited love? And most importantly, will Ryutaro accept their affections? Stay tuned for Chapter 25!
