Chapter 14: You’re Better

Liam could feel what was about to happen, he quickly relaxed all his muscles and let his gaze become vacant.

Miria stared into his eyes for a few seconds. After confirming that the hypnosis had taken effect, her shoulders slumped slightly, her back, which she always kept straight, finally showed a hint of vulnerability.

Miria approached Liam. Then she roughly rummaged through Liam’s pockets.

There, she found various kinds of candy of different flavors, Miria immediately threw the candy into the trash without a second thought.

She grabbed Liam’s collar and said in a loud tone.

"You were so intimate with Silvia earlier, Liam. She even gave you candy like that..." She said through clenched teeth. "You seem to really like making me anxious, do you like making me jealous that much...?"

Liam tried to stay calm, he didn’t want to suddenly blurt something out, because he was currently hypnotized.

"Tell me the truth, Liam. What were you talking about with her earlier?" Miria pressed.

"Location and place for the study group." Liam said.

"Then why did she seem so grateful to you earlier? To the point of giving you candy...? That bitch must have wanted to win your heart, right?"

"She was just thanking me because I found her notebook." Liam replied.

"Then..." Miria lowered her head, her shoulders shaking slightly.

"Do you really..." Her voice began to tremble. "Do you really only admire her academic abilities, you don’t like her, right?"

Liam maintained his dazed state. Saying in a robotic voice. "Yes." While nodding.

"Then why..." Miria’s tone became smaller and smaller until it became a whisper.

"Why do you always look at her and not at me? Why do you pay attention to her and not to me?"

At the moment she said that, her eyes became very red, she was about to cry.

"Every time with you... I always try to be someone you like." Miria poured out her heart, her head bowed, and she squeezed her skirt.

"Silvia always gets good grades, seeing that, I worked myself to death just to break into the top ten of this school. Silvia seems cold with high discipline, so I also try to control my expressions and make my behavior as disciplined as possible. I thought... if I did all that... you might pay more attention to me, I thought you would like me..."

Liam’s heart felt as if it were being squeezed by something. Hearing his childhood friend say something so sincere made his eyes well up with tears.

’So that was it. Miria was really trying to imitate Silvia’s personality.’ frёeωebɳovel.com

"But you still look at her!" Miria lifted her head, tears welling up in her eyes. "Since you were put into that study group, you must be very happy now, right?"

"No." Liam blurted out.

In this hypnotized state, Liam’s answer felt very honest to Miria.

Miria was stunned for a moment.

"Then what do you feel?" She urged Liam, her voice carrying a hint of hope and anticipation.

"...Worried." Liam said, trying his best to reassure Miria. "Worried that this will make you unhappy."

Those words were like flipping a switch in Miria’s head.

Miria suddenly jumped into Liam’s arms, her head buried in Liam’s shoulder, and warm tears were immediately absorbed into Liam’s shirt.

"I was always afraid..." her voice was muffled and tears streamed down her face. "I was afraid that was your type... I was afraid that I couldn’t compare to her... I was afraid that if you were with her for long enough... you would fall in love with her..."

Liam stood stiffly, not knowing where to put his hands.

"I won’t..." Liam said flatly.

"You will!!" Miria cried louder. "Silvia is so radiant, so outstanding, and so amazing. Her grades are always high, and she’s so beautiful... all the boys like girls like her, right? How can... how can I compare to her?"

"You’re so much better than Silvia." Liam said.

The words came out of Liam’s mouth without him realizing it, they just came out without him thinking at all.

Miria’s sobbing stopped in an instant.

"What did you say?" Miria looked up, meeting Liam’s eyes through a tear-filled gaze.

Liam looked at her wet eyelashes and reddened eyeballs, a part of Liam softened.

"You’re better than her." He repeated, his voice soft and very firm. "You don’t need to imitate her, you’re already wonderful as you are."

Miria then wrapped her arms around Liam’s neck and suddenly pulled his head closer.

"Chupp...! Mhnhnmm..."

Miria suddenly lunged for Liam’s lips. Liam, carried away by the moment, could only accept it.

"Chup... mhnmm... Slurpp..." Miria’s red tongue was sometimes visible as their tongues met.

The kiss lasted for 4 minutes and 32 seconds. Until finally, Miria pulled her head back, her lips very wet, filled with each other’s saliva. And a silver thread still seemed to connect them.

"If that’s the case...! Say it more often, you dummy! Say that I’m better than Silvia more often from now on." Miria’s voice was filled with brightness and joy, all the anger and sadness she had experienced before was gone.

Liam could only admire the cuteness of his childhood friend standing before him, he looked at Miria’s red, still-wet lips. The comfortable sensation made his brain feel like it was being tickled by a jolt of something.

Miria looked at Liam’s lips, then her eyes moved to his strong collarbone. Her eyes began to cloud over, and hot breaths escaped her small lips.

Miria locked her gaze on Liam’s eyes, then she whispered.

"Do you perhaps... want to do that thing again...?"
