Chapter 13: Unstable

Liam slowly entered the student council room, his breath catching slightly due to the heavy atmosphere.

Miria, in front of him, hadn’t glanced back the entire time, maintaining a distance of about 3 meters. However, Liam could clearly see that Miria’s hands were clenched the whole way.

Liam took a deep breath, preparing himself.

He saw Miria in front of him pick up a document, then she turned, holding the document up with an expression full of malice and irritation.

Liam opened his mouth, about to speak. "Can I get the report paper for my study group now?"

However, Miria’s voice, like a tigress’s, was heard.

"Must’ve been fun, huh? Talking to that girl?" she said, her gaze piercing directly at Liam.

"We just talked a little about the study group. That’s all." Liam said in a natural voice, as it was just a normal conversation.

"4 Minutes 32 Seconds. That’s how long you spent talking to her, 45 consecutive words you uttered. You two were very intimate, weren’t you? Talking with such bright moods and expressions." Miria stared at Liam, her eyes locked on him, making it impossible for him to read her emotions.

Liam let out a nervous, disbelieving smile. He knew Miria might have yandere tendencies, but who would have thought she was eavesdropping on our conversation? And even counting the time and words I uttered??

"Oh, look at your face. Why? Why are you nervous, did I hit the nail in the head?"

Liam didn’t know what to say. Seeing that, Miria lowered her head, her voice now sounding smaller with a slight tremor.

"Must’ve been nice, huh?" She forced a smile, Liam could see that Miria was now slightly shaken. "...Being in the same study group as the number 1 student in this school?"

"Studying with her three times a week, studying together just the two of you, discussing problems... she can teach you something you don’t know, and you can see her teach you with full seriousness. Oh, how wonderful."

Miria’s jealousy could no longer be hidden in her voice.

Liam’s eyebrows twitched slightly upon hearing Miria’s words, and he finally said, "Look, Miria. This is a misunderstanding. I was just going with the flow. I didn’t expect to be paired with Silvia, alright? Besides, this is a study group. ’Group.’ So, it’s not just me studying with Silvia."

"That’s not what I meant!" Miria raised her tone. "...You must be happy, right? Being in a group with a girl you admire? Aren’t you?"

Liam felt like pinching the bridge of his nose now. It was indeed as he had thought before. Miria had misunderstood his words back in their freshmen year, when he had praised Silvia next to her.

"Alright, Miria. I don’t have feelings for Silvia, okay? She and I are just classmates, that’s it."

"But you used to say that you liked a girl with a personality like hers, cold and smart. Isn’t that what you said back then?"

A pool of tears began to well up at the corners of Miria’s eyes, her lashes moistening, and her eyes turning slightly red.

"I said that because I genuinely admired her talent. Like... like how someone admires a runner breaking a record. It was just a statement to recognize her talent."

"Recognize talent, huh?" Miria repeated, her lips curving slightly. "Then why do you always look at her?"

"When did I ever—"

"Who were you looking at in the hallway near the bulletin board? With whom were you discussing your study group’s place and time? You seem to forget things quickly, don’t you?" Miria’s voice was soft, but there was something darker within it. frёewebηovel.cѳm

Hearing this, Liam could only fall silent. After that, Miria let out a chuckle.

"And also... why did you help her at that time..."

Thump.

Something hit Liam’s heart, he didn’t expect Miria to know about that.

"What do you mean?" Liam asked foolishly.

"Oh... playing dumb now?" Miria seemed even angrier, her eyes turning redder.

"The incident where Silvia lost her notebook. Oh, that girl’s face was so panicked at the time, what could have been in that notebook for her to act like that, right? Liam?" she said cynically.

"Then, a man, heroically intervened in finding the notebook. He finally got it, and nonchalantly gave it to the girl who lost it. Truly, like the beginning of a love story, right?"

Miria is very unstable now, that’s what Liam thought. He had to think of a way to calm her down, she even added strange narration to the incident. He found the notebook behind Silvia’s locker, and it happened to be tucked near Liam’s locker hole.

"I did it because it was convenient for her. She seemed to really need that notebook." Liam finally mustered the courage to reply.

Miria opened her eyes with a face full of sadness, a tear fell. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

"Why is it only convenient for her?!" she exclaimed with all her energy.

Checkmate. That’s what was on Liam’s mind, he was dead now, just waiting for the time when he would be punished by Miria.

"I..." That syllable was all Liam could utter, completely defeated.

Miria squeezed the edge of Liam’s study group report paper, the paper was about to be destroyed by Miria’s grip.

Then, Miria sighed full of disappointment. She slowly reached into her pocket.

The bell rang loudly in Liam’s head, he unconsciously took a step back.

"Liam... Focus your eyes on this phone."

’Here it comes...’
