Chapter 995: Chapter 29: Bloody Dragon Slaying!
Storm Mountains, Horn Peak.
This place was once named for its peak resembling a horn, but now it has transformed into a volcano.
This is the environmental altering characteristic of the Dragon Lord, wherever they reside, elements and magic power will change, even to the extent of affecting nearby terrain. Horn Peak, deep within the Storm Mountains, is surrounded by desolation, originally occupied by several Giants, whose corpses have long turned to dust.
On the scorched ground wander some fire elements, slaves summoned by the Blood Flame Tyrant-Valresaaks, further away is a dangerous legendary elemental creature ’Fanatic of Sacrifice,’ created by the Fire Elemental Prince as an elemental incarnation.
This is not the lair of the Blood Flame Tyrant-Valresaaks, it initially thrived on outer planes.
As for why it came to the Material Plane, it is related to the fall of the incarnation of the Five-Colored Dragon Queen-Tiamat. During the outbreak of the Saints’ Calamity, many powerful five-colored dragons contested for the power of the ’Divine Giant Dragon,’ and it was among them. However, it did not manage to seize the lost divine power, ultimately settling temporarily in the Storm Mountains.
Inside a massive, excavated Dragon’s Nest.
The colossal body of the Blood Flame Tyrant sprawls on a mountain of gold coins, with breaths, scorching air mixed with faint sulfur smells spreading to all directions, its dark red metallic dragon scales symbolize the formidable power it possesses, this color is typically found only on very old Red Dragons.
Its life spans up to 2500 years, now having passed over eight hundred years, advancing towards the stage of an Ancient Red Dragon.
Young Red Dragons might allow enemies to easily infiltrate their lairs, but old Red Dragons would never make such a basic mistake.
On either side of the Blood Flame Tyrant’s dragon’s nest, three crystal balls hover above melted metal pillars.
—Crystal ball of invisibility detection.
—Crystal ball of mind detection.
—Crystal ball of psychic communication.
Centered around the dragon’s nest of the Blood Flame Tyrant-Valresaaks, almost half of Horn Peak falls within its perception range, even in a state of slumber, it can easily detect infiltrating invaders.
Outside the nest is its vassal army, empowered by the dragon’s magical power, some dragon vein creatures have transformed.
They mainly consist of Kobolds, Gnolls, Giants, and Ogres, distributed around the entire nest forming three defensive lines. Closest to the Dragon’s Nest are enslaved elemental servants and some promoted dragon vein monsters.
But now, at the foot of Horn Peak, a silent ’infiltration’ has already begun.
In the shadows, something seems to be lurking.
A patrol of Gnoll guards suddenly becomes alert, raising their heads, sniffing the air, tightening the grip on their weapons, the captain speaks in Gnoll language: "You, go check over there."
A Gnoll warrior within the team obeys, entering the woods, and soon its figure disappears.
Seconds later.
As a phantom leaping within shadows, the figure of Shadow Dancer Kevin appears abruptly, swiftly and decisively slicing the Gnoll captain’s throat, several High Tier wanderers emerge consecutively, leaving no time for the enemy to react, and within mere breaths dispatch seven or eight monster corpses.
"Have them clear the nearby mountain nests of sentries."
"Assassin squad, follow me."
"Take the invisibility potion."
Shadow Dancer Kevin calmly and slowly issues orders, then dispatches the Magic Pet Messenger, saying to the adjacent Mage Advisor: "Send men to equip the Dragon Slayer Crossbow at high points."
"Is the Mechanist in position?"
The Mage Advisor nods, appearing slightly nervous and excited, whispering: "Already in position."
"They all carry storage bags."
Five minutes later.
Several figures, under the Mage’s cover, ascend the high points around several small peaks, where the monster sentries have already been cleared, scattered Ogre corpses surround, a Dwarf-like craftsman retrieves equipment for assembly and urges those beside him: "Hurry up!"
"Assemble these crossbows."
No one can ascertain from which angle this Red Dragon will emerge, they can only deploy twelve Dragon Slayer Crossbows around nearby peaks, but when facing a powerful Ancient Red Dragon, caution is never excessive.
Fifteen minutes later.
The abnormalities at the mountain’s base have already attracted the attention of the Dragon’s Nest’s outer guards, as a Half-Giant with partial dragon vein features summons nearby vassal army, soon on the trails of Horn Peak, a team of fully armed elite warriors advance swiftly.
A short-statured human mage tears open a portal.
Prince Yasan’s figure appears in view, clad in magnificent Purple Dragon Armor, holding the Dragon-slaying Sword, letting out an angry roar to launch the offensive. Accompanied by his war cry, the unique reinforcement ability of the Purple Dragon Knight shrouds the other members of the battle squad.
A fierce battle erupts instantly.
Alongside the roar of monsters, from the direction of the Dragon’s Nest comes a deep, imposing roar.
—Blood Flame Tyrant-Valresaaks (Blood Scale Frenzy) (Six-star Gold)!
The ground trembles.
A massive Ancient Red Dragon slowly opens its eyes, gazing like flowing lava, as it raises its enormous, menacing dragon head, a terrifying aura spreads to all directions.
This is the Dragon’s Presence.
In its presence, creatures below legendary levels lack even the courage to resist, without extraordinary willpower, they can only shiver under the Dragon’s might.
