Chapter 55: Chapter 55- Kaen (Part 2)

Chapter 55- Kaen (Part 2)

Taking a sharp turn, Zen saw Kaen run across the street to the other side, passing through what seemed to be an open bazaar in the heart of the neighborhood. It was the biggest bazaar in that district, with countless people going in and out endlessly.

"Bastard." Zen cursed under his breath as he ran after him. At the same time, he put his hand on his ear. "He entered the bazaar, go from the other side, Cipha!"

"I’m on it!"

Zen then entered the area, trying to weave his way through the place. "Excuse me, please. Let me pass. Thank you, thank you..."

It was hard to try to run when there were hundreds of people around him. Zen’s eyes could see Kaen vaguely as he tried to also pass the crowds. Then, out of nowhere, he vanished from sight as the crowd grew bigger.

A few seconds later, Zen reached the last spot where he saw him as he looked left and right. There were several paths around him, all leading deeper into the district. His eyes wandered left and right as he stretched his senses as far as they could go. He scanned the faces of dozens of people within seconds.

’Where are you, bastard?’

As Zen closed his eyes to sense even better, he suddenly noticed a rather suspicious presence walking quietly on the other side of the street. Instantly, Zen opened his eyes and locked on him. Kaen looked back, just as Zen stared at him, before he clenched his teeth and started running again.

"Hey, get back here!!" Zen yelled as he chased after him.

The two continued running through the bazaar.

’He’s so damn fast. I forgot that he was already training like a maniac before meeting Cipha. Tsk, not much on the brain department, though.’ Zen clenched his teeth as he cut through a shortcut between the stalls.

Everyone around him was looking at him with shock in their eyes.

As Zen was cutting through the stalls, his eyes were completely locked on Kaen. That was when... frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

*Swish*

’Huh?’ Zen’s senses instantly went off, his eyes wandered ahead, just quick enough to see a bat swinging right at his face. Instantly, Zen ducked down as he slid on the ground before rolling back to his feet.

Staring back, he saw a man holding the bat as he watched Zen with stunned eyes.

"How did you..."

"Get him, Kaen said not to let him pass!"

"Who the hell is this bastard?"

Instantly, several men appeared from the stalls as they put away their work.

’Great, I forgot that the idiot controls this entire district like it’s his home.’ Zen clenched his teeth.

"Get out of my way. I don’t have time for you idiots." Zen said coldly.

"Sorry to disappoint. You are going nowhere."

"Cipha. Do you see him?" Zen asked.

"I’m close. Where are you?"

"He sent his goons after me. I will take a moment."

Then, Zen focused on the men just as they attacked. Taking a fighting stance, Zen dashed forward, grabbing the first before he kneed him in the stomach. Turning around, he swung his leg, kicking the second on the side and sending him flying through the stalls, breaking everything in his way.

"You fucker!!!" One grabbed Zen’s shoulder as he tried to punch. However, Zen stopped his fist with his bare hand.

"Huh?" The man’s face paled as he tried to pull away. Only for Zen to punch him in the guts, knocking the breath out of his lungs. Then, he grabbed the man and, with pure strength, threw him at the other two rushing toward him.

*BANG*

"Shit!"

"What the fuck?!!!"

The two fell to the ground as two stalls flipped on them with all the fruits and vegetables on them.

"Tsk, weaklings." Zen then turned around and continued running. ’I hope Cipha got to him.’

"Hah... Hah... Hah..." Kaen ran as fast as he could, running left and right through the alleys as he looked over his shoulder. ’I think I lost him. Fuck.’

Finally, he stopped and sucked a deep breath as he leaned against the wall. ’Why the hell are heavensoul coming for me all of a sudden? Did they discover our location? Fuck, they even sent their daughter... Why the hell did she come here?!’

"I need to warn the othe-"

"There is no need to warn anyone, Kaen."

"...!!!" Kaen instantly took a fighting stance when he heard a voice from the other side of the alley. There, he saw the silhouette of a girl staring at him. For a second, Kaen was completely taken by her beauty.

Even though she was an enemy, in his eyes, she was still perhaps the prettiest woman he had ever laid eyes on. He hadn’t forgotten about her from the moment he saw her years ago. Sadly, she had to be someone he had to antagonize.

"Hah... I didn’t think Heavensoul would give us such a high status as to send their precious daughter to us." He said with a cold smile.

"Heavensoul didn’t send me to you, Kaen. I am here on my own terms." She said. "Please, listen to me and let me explain."

"Hahahahaha... The heir of the Heavensoul wants me to believe she came here under no orders? What else should I believe, that the moon is made out of cheese?"

"Kaen. You are smarter than this. I am here precisely for the same reason you are here. I want to destroy Heavensoul." She said as she walked into the alley. "And I believe you would be the perfect person for this job."

"..." Kaen’s eyes widened for a second as he stared at her. Then...

"Pfffft, hahahaha..." Kaen started laughing. "When I heard that you’re here to potentially kill me... I didn’t think it would be with laughter, Miss Cipha. But, you’re quite the comedian."

"Kaen," Cipha said. "I need your help. I am truly not your enemy."

"Oh yeah? What about your friend, huh? Is he also not my enemy? He had already beaten more than 20 of my men."

"He is simply defending himself," Cipha said. "Just calm down."

As Cipha tried to approach him, Kaen stepped back slowly. "Don’t approach me." He said with a threatening tone. "I don’t trust you or your people. All you do is lie and deceive. You never keep a word, and you always break promises. I will never trust any bastard with the Heavensoul name attached to them."

He said angrily as he suddenly channeled his Essence. "Especially not someone of your caliber."

*Swish*

Swaying his hand, suddenly, Kaen disappeared from sight completely. Cipha instantly reacted as she spread her senses. ’He used his rune!’

That was when she felt his presence running to the other side. "Wait, Kaen!"

She ran after him as she contacted Zen. "Zen! Where are you?"

"I’m on my way!"

"He used his ability! Don’t let him run!"

"On it."

As Zen reached the area, he felt Kaen’s presence as he ran through the street. His eyes locked on the man as he reached one of the cars and got inside.

"Oh no, you won’t!"
