Chapter 44- The Rune Of Reality (Part 3)
"You know...?" Zen frowned. He was quite taken aback by the fact that the Goddess was aware of the fact that this wasn’t his first lifetime. While a deity had the power to discover such a thing, Zen had the premonition that what occurred was the work of some Godly figure.
"I could tell from your Essence. I have never come across a person who achieved the true rebirth." She said with a rather emotionless tone.
"True birth... Do you know who did it? Do you know who sent me back in time?" Zen asked in a hurry as he looked around him. If this was an opportunity to know this secret, he wasn’t going to waste it.
"You are far too weak to learn of such a thing, child. What you don’t know wouldn’t hurt you." Liserva replied.
"What? What are you talking about? I need to know who did this and why they did it." He explained.
"When the time comes, you shall know the truth. Rush it, and you might regret ever trying to learn of it. You still have a long way ahead of you, child. However, I can tell you that you were chosen for a reason. Your powers and your presence shall shake the entire world."
"..."
"The rune has chosen you to be the carrier of its power. You are the true worthy Hunter in this world. Do not disappoint me, child. I will be watching your journey with great interest."
"Huh? Wait a second, I’m not done with-"
Before he could even finish speaking, the world around him shifted again as he found himself back in the real world, barely hanging from the statue. The Grey rune had shifted color instantly into a beautiful blue and then was instantly absorbed by his body.
[You have learned a new rune!]
*BOOOOOM*
Energy exploded from his body, sending shockwaves to every corner of the chamber. Kaiser was thrown back several feet. Rolling a few times, he landed on his feet and looked up with wide eyes.
"No... NO!!!!" He yelled at the top of his lungs when he saw the energy emanating from Zen’s body. He had taken it... The rune was taken. His face paled and his eyes turned red from sheer anger. "You fucking idiot!!!"
Zen, meanwhile, didn’t seem that bothered by his angry tantrums as he stared into thin air in a daze. Then, his eyes slowly widened in shock...
"You have got to be kidding me... This is... This is a real ability?" He asked himself, completely in disbelief. Even after living as a Hunter for decades and seeing all kinds of powers, powers that could change the entire world, he never could have imagined that such a rune existed.
It simply sounded far too ridiculous to be something a human could possess.
’This has to be some sort of sick joke.’ Zen clenched his teeth. ’No wonder the Wood Folks are defending this place with their lives... This thing should never be in the hands of any of these bastards.’
Looking down at Kaiser, his eyes turned cold. ’If he had gotten his hands on it. Then that would explain so many of the things that would happen in the future. It would also explain how the power of the Nar clan soared so much in such a short period of time.’
Zen was starting to piece things together and coming to a cohesive idea of what truly happened in the original timeline. Perhaps they had indeed gotten their hands on the rune and yet kept it completely hidden from the masses to make sure nobody would know their secret.
Yet, now, Zen possessed that power. A power that he could’ve never even dreamed of. If anything, he didn’t even think it existed in the first place.
"You ruined everything, you bastard! I’m going to kill you!!"
Finally, Zen snapped out of his daze as he looked at Kaiser again. "Oh? Really? Come on, it was a fair trade. You get to boast about how strong you are, while I get the actual rune." He winked.
At that point, Kaiser’s head was already boiling beyond comprehension. He had never felt angrier in his life. A random kid had taken the valuable rune for himself. He couldn’t believe that such an easy mission would fail so miserably, all because of this bastard. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
Channeling his Essence, his aura exploded violently. "You can stay hanging there on the statue like a monkey. The moment you fall, I will personally make you experience hell on earth."
"Oh?" Zen raised an eyebrow. "You think I’m going to stay hanging here?" He asked with a mischievous smile.
"Huh?"
Then, before Kaiser could even understand what he meant, Zen suddenly jumped from the statue and landed on the ground. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"Here, I came to you myself. Go ahead. Show me hell on earth." Zen said as he put his hands in his pockets.
"..."
’This boy... is he crazy? Where did he get all this confidence from? Even if he learned the rune, he cannot be strong enough to fight me.’ Clenching his fists, Kaiser shook that thought away and dashed forward, leaving a crack in the ground as he launched a fast punch. Zen couldn’t even see it.
However, he didn’t really need to see it. All Zen did was raise his hand in the air as he channeled his Essence.
’Die!’ He yelled in his head as he swung his fist. However, what happened next completely bent his mind.
*Swish*
For a second, Kaiser felt his fist stop mid-air before it could connect with Zen’s face. Then, a sharp pain assaulted his chest, so suffocating, it made his heart stop for a second before...
*BANG*
He was launched back in the air, flying at horrendous speeds before he smashed into the chamber wall, leaving a big crack in it.
"What... What happened... Cough, cough..." Holding his side, he cried in pain as he looked up. Zen was standing there, unscathed. "What... the hell... did you do to me?"
"Hm?" Zen raised an eyebrow. "Nothing. I just said ’stop’, and you kinda did. You’re a very obedient boy, aren’t you?"
Kaiser clenched his teeth as he tried to stand up, only for his legs to betray him. The hit was very strong, and it left his body in a shocked state.
"You bastard!" He yelled. ’That must’ve been the damn rune. What does it do? And how did he stop that attack? It can’t be possible.’
Zen started walking toward him. "You have murdered innocent people of this forest with cold blood. You and your murderous clan should never see the light of day." Reaching him, Zen leaned down and looked him in the eyes. "You have done irreversible damage to this world, and I will make sure to eradicate every single one of you, one by one. I will make you go through the hell you made me go through."
For a second, all Kaiser could see were cold, murderous eyes that carried deep, endless hatred. He had never seen such eyes before, even from people he was about to kill. The hatred carried within them shook him to the core, and for that to come from a kid barely old enough to be an adult... He didn’t understand how.
"Haha... You think... You can take us down?... So much for a pipe dream, little bastard." Kaiser laughed. "Huh?"
Suddenly, Kaiser looked over Zen’s shoulders as his eyes widened in shock. Zen frowned and looked back to check if something was happening.
"You fell for it, bastard! Die!!" Kaiser yelled as he manifested a fire in his hand and tried to hit Zen in the face. Only for the fire to suddenly bounce back, hitting his body directly as it caught on fire instantly.
"You think I would fall for the oldest trick in the book? You’re a hundred years too young to do this stuff."
