Chapter 6: Disater
"Eat."
I said as I held a spoon of porridge to my wife’s lips. She just stared at me with a resentful look before sipping that spoonful of porridge in her mouth . When I pulled the spoon back, I realized I couldn’t because my wife had clenched it in her jaw as if a dog was biting tightly onto a bone, angry that someone had taken its favorite food away.
A few seconds later, she finally let it go.
I saw it. She was trying to make me uncomfortable and prolong the feeding time.
Even if I was a patient man, it was still quite annoying.
"Are you a kid?"
My wife smirked.
"So, are you really angry?"
I didn’t answer. Arguing with a kid would just make me one too.
I wasn’t annoyed by her childish actions, but by her wasting my time.
Today, I had a lot of work to do.
I glanced at the wristwatch on my wrist before checking my phone. A wicked smile spread across my lips as I scrolled through social media.
"Time’s up for eating."
My voice and expression completely surprised my wife. Then, she grew tense, and worry filled her as I pushed the wheelchair toward the door.
"W-What are you doing? Are you planning to get rid of me?" she asked in fear.
I just kept a cold face, saying nothing, and went ahead.
My destination is the Hunter Association.

"Sir James! There’s a big problem." Polly instantly burst through the door of the head family officer, holding an iPad in his hand.
"The young maid of the Royal Pendragon family’s corpse was hanging on the gate of the main family."
"The news has spread across social media."
James just leaned back in his chair, letting out a resentful breath. He already knew it – the news on social media.
"Why did it have to happen today? On my banquet to celebrate my birthday."
Even though her death had no impact on the relationship between his family and the royal family, the media always made up whatever they thought.
He could use his authority to stop the media from spreading this news, but he couldn’t erase the memories of humans across the world. Moreover, this event involved the participation of ancient races;
He could tell those old geezers would take this chance to laugh at him.
James sighed.
"Go and find the culprit for me."
He thought, "She is in Henry’s house, serving Arthea, and at the same time, assassinating Henry, so there must be someone protecting Henry."
He wondered who could be protecting his useless son.
Polly hesitated for a moment before replying.
"Sir, I’ve found the culprit. He’s your son...’’
The veins began to bulge on James’s forehead as he slammed his fist on the desk, shattering it into pieces.
"Nonsense. Are you kidding me? One is in the territory of the elves of the Eryndor Continent, while the other was studying in Dawnreach City, a thousand kilometers away from here. How could they do it when she only arrived yesterday? Or are you saying I have an illegitimate child?"
Polly forced himself to smile. Even he didn’t believe the words he was saying.
"I mean, it’s Henry. I’ve already checked the cameras a hundred times. It can’t be wrong.’’
James’s expression shifted from angry to cold as usual. He said.
’’Summon him right now.’’
Polly said bitterly.
"He called me and said: He has been out on a picnic with his wife and will return before the banquet begins."
James’s hands began to tremble in anger. He never thought that one day one of his sons would make his blood boil, especially the one he least expected.
His initial intention was just to give his son a quick, gentle death after everything he had contributed to the family – a quarter of the high-tier gate area of the Pendragon family through the allied family.
However, the number of high-tier gates was strictly managed by the Royal Elder Council, so marriage certificates were the most effective proof– one of the ancestral laws of the royal family.
Those old geezers couldn’t go against the rules of the Pendragon ancestors.
However, he had judged Henry wrong. He was not trash. He had simply been hiding his true strength.
"You certainly know how to pick the right moment to reveal your true colors. Whatever I see tonight, I’ll make my decision then."
The next moment, he burst into laughter. He kept laughing for a few minutes before letting out a sigh.
"Tell the Royal Pendragon family to cancel the agreement. We won’t kill Henry."
Polly raised an eyebrow.
"Is it really fine? They really love their Second Princess. I don’t think they’ll accept it."
James snorted.
"Love her? Then why did they choose her out of all their children? She’s just a broken blessing from heaven."
"It’ll be fine. Don’t worry.’’
Polly nodded politely.
’’Yes, my lord.’’

"I want to register as a hunter. Of course, that includes her as well."
I said this to a staff member of the Hunter Association, where every awakener began their journey of clearing gates.
I could have chosen a gate area managed by my family, but that would have been quite troublesome in this situation, especially after the mess I had caused.
I was pretty sure my father wanted nothing more than to crush me into pieces right now.
The staff member nodded before asking for my ID. The moment he saw it, surprise flashed across his face, and he immediately bowed his head politely.
"Please follow me, Sir Henry."
I nodded and pushed the wheelchair, following him.
The staff member’s reaction was understandable.
In this modern era, nobles and royals still existed and held high positions in society, yet their roles had changed a lot. They no longer ruled their lands in the old-fashioned way their ancestors once did. Instead, they left those tedious duties to proper organizations, such as the government – a dog of the Royal Pendragon family.
Meanwhile, nobles and royals focused on what they were supposed to do: developing their power to fight against demons and compete with other races.
