Chapter 59: 59: the Wang family.

Ace and Benny made their way home, each carrying a wooden bucket filled nearly to the brim with water from the communal well.

The water sloshed gently with every step, forcing them to walk much slower than usual.

For a while, neither father nor son spoke.

The village road was quiet, a few elderly villagers sat beneath trees chatting while several children chased one another through the dusty paths.

After several minutes, Ace finally broke the silence.

"Benny."

"Hm?"

Ace glanced sideways at his son.

"Are you sure you can help Wang Guoqiang’s son?"

Benny looked over, his father’s expression was calm, but there was a trace of concern in his eyes.

"It’s better to be truthful than give someone false hope."

Wang Guoqiang had been their neighbor for decades.

The two families had known each other for as long as Benny could remember.

If Benny truly had a way to help Wang Jun, then naturally it was a good thing.

But if he was simply making promises on impulse, disappointment later would only hurt everyone involved.

Benny nodded confidently.

"Don’t worry, Father. I won’t be able to get him into the company I’m working at."

That much was true.

Even Benny knew there were limits.

Autumn Investment might be his company, but if he started stuffing obviously unsuitable people into important positions, even his own employees would begin questioning him.

More importantly, the System would probably find a way to ruin his life.

"But I can help him get work."

Seeing the confidence on his son’s face, Ace eventually nodded.

"Just make sure you’re not making promises you can’t keep."

"I won’t."

At least Benny sincerely hoped he wouldn’t.

By the time they returned home, the smell of food was already drifting from the courtyard.

Lunch was ready and the moment they stepped through the gate, Linda’s voice immediately rang out.

"Wash your hands first!"

Neither father nor son dared argue.

Several minutes later, everyone gathered around the dining table.

The atmosphere was lively.

Village food always tasted different.

Maybe it was because everything was fresh.

Whatever the reason, he found himself eating far more than usual.

After lunch, everyone gradually dispersed.

As for Benny., he suddenly found himself with nothing to do so he decided to pay uncle Wang’s family a visit.

Since he had already promised to help Wang Jun, he might as well start gathering information.

With that thought in mind, he left the house after grabbing a few stuff.

A short while later, he arrived at the Wang family’s home.

The courtyard gate stood open.

Inside, a small wooden table had been placed beneath the shade of a tree.

A middle-aged woman sat beside it sorting vegetables.

Across from her, a young girl diligently worked through an exercise book.

The moment Benny stepped through the gate, the woman looked up.

Her eyes widened slightly.

"Benny?"

Benny smiled.

"Aunty Wang."

The little girl also looked up and the moment she recognized him, she immediately sat up straighter.

Benny walked over carrying a small shopping bag.

Inside were a few things Selena had purchased during yesterday’s shopping spree.

Among them was a chocolate bar and two kilograms of sugar.

"When did you come back?"

Aunty Wang stood up with a surprised smile.

"Last night."

Benny nodded.

"We arrived pretty late."

Then he crouched beside the little girl.

"What are you studying?"

The little girl immediately covered her workbook.

Her ears turned slightly red.

Benny couldn’t help laughing.

"Studying so hard already?"

He reached into the bag and pulled out the chocolate bar.

"Here."

The little girl’s eyes immediately widened.

"For me?"

"For you."

Benny smiled.

"Think of it as a reward for working hard."

The little girl instinctively looked toward her mother.

Only after receiving permission did she carefully accept it.

"Thank you, Brother Benny."

Benny rubbed her head.

"No problem."

Then he stood up and handed the sugar to Aunty Wang.

"My sister bought too much yesterday."

Aunty Wang immediately recognized what it was.

"Why are you bringing things over?"

"It’s only sugar."

Benny shrugged.

"We couldn’t finish it all anyway."

Aunty Wang almost laughed.

Village people weren’t fools, still, she accepted it graciously.

"Then thank your sister for me later."

"I will."

She pointed toward a stool.

"Sit."

Benny pulled over a chair and sat down.

Aunty Wang then spoke.

"Your Uncle Wang said he saw you this morning."

Benny nodded.

"We met while fetching water."

A faint sigh escaped her lips.

"He’s been worried about that boy lately."

Benny naturally knew who she meant, Wang Jun.

"He’ll be fine."

Benny said confidently. frёewebnoѵēl.com

"I’ve actually been thinking about it."

Aunty Wang looked up.

"Thinking about what?"

"A job."

The moment Benny said those words, her movements stopped.

Even the little girl’s pencil paused briefly.

Benny didn’t notice.

His attention was already focused on explaining the brilliant idea he had invented less than two hours ago.

"Nothing complicated. I’ll probably get him to join the group that purchase agricultural products."

Aunty Wang blinked.

"Purchase agricultural products?"

"Vegetables, fruit, grain and things like that."

The more Benny explained, the more reasonable it sounded.

Maybe Wang Jun could become a middleman.

Maybe Autumn Investment could invest in the business.

Maybe they could build a supply chain.

Maybe...

Actually, Benny had absolutely no idea what he was talking about.

But it sounded impressive enough.

Most importantly, it sounded like something that could potentially lose money.

And if it lost money? It would be perfect.

He could invest more.

No matter how many times Wang Jun fail, he could continue investing.

Aunty Wang, however, had no idea what was happening inside Benny’s head.

She only heard that he was seriously considering helping her son.

"Really?"

"Of course."

Benny nodded.

"I already promised Uncle Wang."

Seeing his sincere expression, her eyes softened.

She knew Benny well enough to know he wasn’t someone who casually made promises.

"Then I’ll thank you in advance."

Benny immediately waved his hand.

"No need."

After all, he wasn’t helping out of charity.

He genuinely believed this could become an excellent investment project.
