Chapter 58: 58: Wang Guoqiang.
Benny lay comfortably on the bed, scrolling through news articles on his phone.
Ever since investing in Titan Manufacturing, he had begun paying a lot more attention to the company.
Not because he was worried, no, it was quite the opposite.
He was checking whether things were getting worse.
A headline immediately caught his eye.
Titan Manufacturing Changes CEO. Can the New CEO Bring New Changes?
Benny tapped the article and quickly skimmed through it.
A few moments later, his eyes landed on a familiar figure.
The company’s current valuation was now at record low, ¥290 million.
A smile instantly appeared on his face.
Just a few days ago, Titan Manufacturing had been valued at over ¥300 million.
Now it had dropped again.
Even better, he remembered reading that the company had once reached a peak valuation of nearly ¥800 million during its glory days.
Looking at the numbers, Benny couldn’t help but sigh.
What a pity.
If only I had bought shares when the company was worth ¥800 million.
Then the decline would have been much bigger by now.
Just imagining it made him feel slightly regretful.
Still, a drop was a drop.
As long as the company’s valuation kept falling, he was satisfied.
Benny happily continued reading.
The article speculated about whether the new CEO could reverse Titan Manufacturing’s decline.
Some analysts were optimistic while others remained skeptical.
Benny naturally belonged to the second group.
After all, changing a CEO didn’t magically solve a company’s problems.
At least, that was how he saw it.
Just as he was about to continue reading, the bedroom door suddenly swung open.
Bang!
Benny nearly dropped his phone.
Looking up, he found his father standing at the entrance.
Ace took one look at the lazy figure sprawled across the bed and immediately frowned.
"Get your lazy ass out here, we’re going to fetch water."
Benny clicked his tongue internally.
Tsk. And they say Selena isn’t blood-related.
You and her are exactly the same.
Naturally, he kept that thought to himself.
Outwardly, he sat up and nodded obediently.
"Understood, Father. Let’s go."
Ace looked somewhat satisfied as he turned and walked away.
Benny reluctantly got off the bed and followed him outside.
Selena was seated on a low stool beneath the shade of a tree.
In front of her sat a large woven bamboo tray filled with freshly harvested rice.
Every few moments, she would skillfully toss the rice upward.
The lighter dust, husks, and impurities were carried away by the breeze while the heavier grains fell back into the tray.
Afterward, she would patiently pick through the rice, removing any remaining husks by hand.
The process looked surprisingly natural.
At least until she noticed Benny watching.
Immediately, she narrowed her eyes.
"What are you looking at?"
Benny instantly looked away.
"Nothing."
Satisfied, Selena returned to her work.
Not far away, his mother and Hong Yueyao were sitting together beneath the veranda.
A basket of peas sat between them.
The two women chatted happily while peeling the pods.
Occasionally, his mother would laugh loudly at something Hong Yueyao said.
The atmosphere was remarkably harmonious.
Watching the scene, Benny couldn’t help feeling slightly impressed.
Hong Yueyao had somehow already integrated herself into the family.
His mother clearly adored her, his father had no objections.
Meanwhile, Hong Yueyao looked completely at ease as she peeled another pea pod and handed the peas into a nearby bowl.
After picking up a pair of empty buckets, Ace and Benny followed the familiar dirt path leading toward the village well.
Along the way, villagers occasionally greeted Ace.
Most of them had known him for decades.
Some even remembered Benny from when he was still running around the village as a child.
Before long, a voice called out from the roadside.
"Ace!"
Both father and son turned around.
A middle-aged man carrying a hoe over his shoulder was walking toward them.
The man’s skin was tanned from years of working under the sun, and a warm smile rested on his face.
It was their neighbor, Wang Guoqiang.
"Old Wang."
Ace greeted him with a grin.
The two men exchanged a few words before Wang Guoqiang’s gaze landed on Benny.
His eyes immediately lit up.
"Benny! It’s been a while since I’ve seen you."
Benny smiled politely.
"Good morning, Uncle Wang."
Wang Guoqiang nodded repeatedly.
"Good, good."
Then, like every elder in existence, he immediately began asking questions.
"What are you doing these days?"
"Still studying?"
"Working already?"
Benny answered honestly.
"I’m working at an investment company."
"Investment company?"
Wang Guoqiang looked impressed.
"That’s a good job."
Then his expression became slightly hesitant. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
After a brief pause, he finally spoke.
"Benny... Do you think you could help my son find work?"
The request clearly embarrassed him.
After all, asking favors wasn’t easy.
Benny paused for a moment.
Naturally, he remembered Uncle Wang.
In his previous life, Wang Guoqiang had always been a good man.
Whenever their family encountered difficulties, the man had helped whenever he could.
His son was also a decent person.
Kind-hearted and hardworking but unfortunately he was a little slow.
Benny immediately dismissed the idea of bringing him into Autumn Investment.
Even if Benny personally wanted incompetent employees.
The others certainly didn’t.
If he forced the issue, the staff would probably ostracised the poor guy.
Still...
That didn’t mean there were no opportunities.
If Uncle Wang’s son started a business...
Then Benny could invest.
If it succeeded, wonderful.
If it failed, he would invest again.
The more Benny thought about it, the brighter his eyes became.
This was practically perfect.
Of course, he had absolutely no intention of sabotaging the man.
On the contrary, he genuinely hoped Uncle Wang’s son succeeded.
But even if he failed, Benny would still support him.
After all, he was even more interested on investing on failing businesses.
Filled with confidence, Benny immediately nodded.
"Uncle Wang, don’t worry."
His tone was sincere.
"I’ll definitely help your son find a job."
Wang Guoqiang’s eyes widened.
"Really?"
"Really."
Benny nodded firmly.
The old farmer’s face immediately filled with gratitude.
"Thank you, thank you, Benny."
Meanwhile, standing beside them, Ace looked at his son with mild surprise.
His son had agreed awfully quickly.
Still, seeing the gratitude on Wang Guoqiang’s face, he chose not to say anything.
After chatting for a little longer, the two groups finally separated.
As they continued walking toward the well, Benny was already thinking about another matter.
Maybe when they returned to the city...
He should ask Uncle Wang’s son whether he had ever considered starting a business.
