Chapter 25: Chapter 25 Meeting Cancell

I gunned the engine of my black sports car, tearing away from Frostline Enterprises like a wolf fleeing a wildfire. My knuckles turned white as I gripped the steering wheel with one hand, using the other to angrily wipe at my face, which still stung from the confrontation.

Mother’s furious expression and cutting words kept replaying in my head, each syllable cutting deeper than the last.

"You’ve brought shame to the entire Frostfang Pack!"

"Do you have any respect for me as your Alpha? As your mother?"

Each word was like a silver dagger piercing my heart, reopening old wounds that had never truly healed. I bit down hard on my lower lip, the coppery taste of blood mingling with the bitter taste of rejection. The gas pedal met the floor as I pushed the car harder, desperate to put distance between myself and everything that was suffocating me.

I needed to escape it all – the pack mansion that had never felt like home, the mother who had always favored my sister Selene while treating me with cold indifference, the crushing weight of expectations I could never seem to fulfill despite sacrificing my very nature for three long years.

For too long, I’d suppressed her Alpha instincts, forced her into submission. Now she was fighting back, demanding to be acknowledged.

By the time I reached Morgana Amani’s luxury downtown apartment building, my palms were slick with sweat. Morgana’s place had become my sanctuary over the years – the one place where I didn’t have to pretend to be something I wasn’t. I navigated the familiar path to her door and pressed the buzzer, my cheek throbbing with each heartbeat.

"Sylvia? What are you doing here at this hour?" Morgana swung open the door, her expression quickly shifting from surprise to alarm. "My Goddess, what happened to your face? Who hit you?"

I pushed past her into the apartment, heading straight for the kitchen where I grabbed a glass and filled it with ice water.

"My mother truly is biased to her core," I snarled, downing half the glass in one gulp. The cold liquid slid down my throat but did nothing to extinguish the fire burning inside me. "She actually demanded that I apologize to that perverted Leo."

After hearing my full account of what happened at the office, Morgana nearly leapt from her seat in outrage. freeweɓnovel.cøm

"What?! That creep harassed female employees and you’re supposed to apologize? Who does he think he is?" Her eyes flashed with anger, her wolf clearly close to the surface. "You did the right thing putting him in his place, Sylvia! Someone needed to teach that aging predator a lesson about boundaries. It’s about damn time!"

While she continued her impassioned rant, Morgana leaned in to examine my injured face more carefully.

"Jesus, it’s swollen like a full moon and turning purple. Does it hurt?" Her fingers hovered near my cheek, afraid to touch the damaged skin.

I waved her concern away with forced nonchalance. "It’s nothing, just a minor injury."

"Minor?! Your face looks like you went ten rounds with a rival Alpha! What if it scars?" Morgana grabbed my wrist, pulling me toward her bathroom. "We need to treat this right away."

She began rummaging through cabinets, muttering to herself as she searched. "I know I have a first aid kit somewhere around here..."

I couldn’t help but smile slightly at her fussing. "It’s really not necessary. It’ll heal in a couple of days."

"Absolutely not acceptable!" Morgana insisted, still searching frantically. "The swelling needs to be reduced immediately. How are you going to face anyone tomorrow looking like this?"

Suddenly, Morgana’s eyes lit up with inspiration. She slapped her thigh excitedly. "I’ve got it!"

"Got what?" I asked, eyeing her suspiciously.

A mischievous smile spread across her face as she pulled out her phone. "Just wait!"

"What are you thinking?" I narrowed my eyes, not liking the gleam in hers.

Morgana leaned in close, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "I’ll call Caesar to bring over some medication! It’s the perfect opportunity to bring you two closer together!"

I froze at the mention of his name.

"Morgana, don’t—" I reached for her phone, but she was already dialing, deliberately putting it on speaker.

"Morgana! Stop—" I tried again, but it was too late. The call connected.

"Hello, Alpha Caesar! Where are you? Sylvia’s at my place, and she’s... she’s been hit!" Morgana announced dramatically.

Through the speaker, I could hear the immediate tension in Caesar’s voice, the background noise of what sounded like a boardroom suddenly going silent. "What happened to her? Who did it?"

The possessive growl underlying his question sent an involuntary shiver down my spine. My wolf perked up in response, which confused and irritated me.

"Don’t ask so many questions!" Morgana continued, ignoring my frantic gestures to stop. "Just come quickly! Her face is swollen and looks frightful! I don’t have any medicine at home, so bring some when you come. That’s it, cousin!"

I could practically feel Caesar’s Alpha rage through the phone at the words "face is swollen." Without hesitation, his commanding voice cut through the background noise: "Meeting cancelled. I have an urgent matter to attend to."

"Alpha Caesar, this... today’s meeting is crucial..." I heard a timid assistant protest.

"Nothing is more important than my mate," came Caesar’s icy reply.

I heard the rustling of fabric as he presumably grabbed his coat, followed by determined footsteps exiting what must have been a conference room, leaving stunned silence in his wake.

My eyes widened in horror. Did he just call me his mate? In front of his entire executive team?

"Morgana!" I hissed as she ended the call, looking entirely too pleased with herself. "What have you done?"
