Chapter 838: Chapter 838. Horde

"The entrance exams will be simple. There won’t be anything like combat duels," Lord Solen continued as everyone listened intently. "You will have to survive 3 years at where we are about to send you. After three years, those alive in the place will become new students of the Heavenly Tyrant Academy. Oh, and the entrance exams won’t be broadcast publicly. The Heavenly Tyrant Academy does not care about the public enough to show our methods to them. But, the entrance exam will be broadcasted to the whole academy. Of course, we don’t care if you brag to others that you are a student of the Heavenly Tyrant Academy after passing the entrance exam."

Everyone chuckled at his final words.

"Follow us."

The group of millions followed the professors.

They proceeded past various landscapes, mountains, and forests.

Eventually, they arrived at a location with a sealed entrance.

The participants realized that they were being sent into a secret realm.

And with the way they had been told to survive in the secret realm, it meant that the place would be very dangerous. There was no way they would just have a vacation inside this secret realm for three years and just come out.

Everyone braced themselves for the treacherous environment that most likely lay ahead in the secret realm.

They also understood that the Heavenly Tyrant Academy would use this secret realm’s environment to thin down the number of participants considerably. Three years would be enough time in the secret realm to thin down the numbers and ultimately get rid of those deemed mediocre from the elites.

None of them were surprised. An academy of this calibre was meant to have such ruthless methods.

Lord Solen waved his hand. The sealed entrance of the secret realm opened, revealing an open entrance with distorting energies.

"Best of luck," the professors said, gesturing for the examinees to enter the secret realm.

The millions of examinees entered the secret realm, after which the entrance was sealed again.

"Is there anyone you have high hopes for?" Solen asked Nyeria.

"All of them are definitely remarkable, according to their background checks," Nyeria said. "However, this exam will not just be a test of their strength. Transcendents who cannot make quick decisions and adapt in dangerous situations are not fit for the Heavenly Tyrant Academy."

Solen nodded. "Indeed. The whole academy, including professors and students, are watching this. I hope the entrance exams will be entertaining."

Several students and professors of the Heavenly Tyrant Academy were watching the entrance exams of the Heavenly Tyrant Academy from various places.

What kind of surprises would these examinees pull off?

Kailen scanned his surroundings.

"Julian must have arrived in another location."

He was alone here.

He was standing in a very desolate place.

There were lots of skeletons of different shapes and sizes on the ground.

The ground was very crimson and the atmosphere was very eerie. The sky was blanketed in thick, dark clouds.

"This place is dangerous, considering the corpses here," Kailen thought.

Suddenly, thunderbolts struck down from the sky. The thunderbolts targeted Kailen directly. Kailen could sense the threat from the lightning bolt headed his way.

Kailen quickly melded with the void and reappeared far away from where he previously stood.

When he looked at where he previously stood, a gaping crater had formed over there.

Kailen looked above.

"Some sort of aerial creature must be behind these principle attacks," he thought. "Most likely, the skeletons here are the remains of people who were killed as a result of this attack that almost killed me."

"I need to identify the movements of the creature so that I can better anticipate its attacks."

Kailen activated his principle of space and scanned the vicinity.

He could not cover much of a distance because the desolate place was very large. He could only scan a small portion of it. He did not notice any creature after his scan.

Also, he could not see any creatures in the sky either.

"It could be that they are very high up in the sky, at a level where my space principle cannot scan them. Or, it could be a natural environmental hazard causing the lightning attacks. But, I lean more towards the former assumption," Kailen thought.

"It doesn’t look like I’m leaving this desolate place any time soon. What I can do is figure out how to survive in this place for as long as I can while I journey away from here. I was fortunate enough to evade the lightning principle attack previously, but I can’t be too confident next time. I should find a high ground, and try to scan the skies to see if there are any creatures moving around, study their movement patterns and know how to adapt to this environment and also anticipate the attacks of the creatures," Kailen thought.

He kept melding with the void and reappearing randomly. He did not even know how long had passed. But he repeated this for a long time.

Since he didn’t know when another lightning principle attack would fall, it was better to assume it could be at any time. Inasmuch as it was not the safest option, it was the best he could do to buy some time for himself, as he tried to find a high ground.

Kailen melded with the void and reappeared at a different place at the desolate place.

The moment he reappeared, a lightning bolt zipped down from above.

He melded with the void again, as he had been doing previously.

The moment he did so, the lightning bolt struck where he previously stood.

A large skeleton of a chaotic beast was at where he previously stood. The lightning bolt struck the large skeleton and turned it into smithereens. The lightning bolt zipped through the ground, causing a very large hole to appear at where it previously was.

Kailen sighed deeply. A chill crawled up his spine. But he was calm.

"That was a close call," he thought.

With his principle of space activated, he scanned the region around him, looking for a high ground.

He saw a high ground ahead. It was a mountain with peaks peering through the thick, dark clouds.

But, he heard a loud bird screech all of a sudden.

Kailen saw the creature in the vicinity of his scan.

It was an ostrich-like chaotic beast. No, they were several ostrich-like chaotic beasts. They were a horde.

They were not flying. Wreathed in wind cyclones, they were skidding across the desolate ground with their feet. But their speed was nothing to scoff at.

"Shit," Kailen cursed.
