Chapter 411: New Look

His roar faded slowly, and his body finally stopped convulsing. The space around him gradually became quiet.

One final notification appeared.

But it was quickly accompanied by another string of notifications from his bonded Harem System.

Elion remained on his knees as he breathed heavily. His hair hung loosely over his face, damp with sweat. The scales across his body shimmered faintly in the light.

His wings rested behind him, folded partially inward, and his tail moved around slowly against the ground. He said nothing as he lifted one trembling hand and looked at the scales covering his fingers.

He flexed them slowly, and the air cracked faintly around his hand. Elion stared as an involuntary grin spread across his face. It was a tired, but slightly crazed grin. He remained kneeling for only a little bit as the last traces of pain finally faded away from his body.

He certainly felt stronger physically. Even while the slight weakness from evolution was still leaving him, he felt even stronger than before, at least five times stronger, and a single inhale through his mouth and nose seemed to draw in large amounts of mana from the air around him.

Considering how dense the mana in this place was already, he could almost feel his mana core saturate, but even as it seemed that way, his core seemed to refine that mana and compress it within his body without much effort.

It was odd, something that usually took conscious effort to do by meditating on your, he was doing by just breathing!

Slowly, he pushed himself back to his feet as his wings moved behind him. His tail dragged lightly across the ground.

Elion looked down at himself with wonder. He looked at his hands, his broad chest, before moving his butt at an angle so that he could look at the long, scaly tail behind him over his shoulder.

A wry smile tugged at his lips, "Well, would you look at that," he muttered. "I not only grew taller, but I also grew a tail."

It was going to be quite a spectacle to see how he was going to explain this new look. Becoming taller, that, at least, was worthy of celebration. Going from six foot one to six foot seven was not something any man with sense would complain about.

The rest, however...

Elion flexed his fingers slowly.

The scales along his forearms caught the light with a cold metallic sheen. His wings stretched slightly behind him, the dark leathery membranes opening with a faint rustle before folding inward again.

The movement felt odd, to say the least. It wasn’t painful or uncomfortable in any way, but it was just strange. Like having a new pair of limbs he had somehow always possessed but had simply never used before.

The moment he thought of moving them, they obeyed, just like his hands and his feet. It felt completely natural. His tail, on the other hand, seemed far more unruly. It shifted behind him with faint excitement, curling and uncurling against the ground as though it possessed far too much energy of its own.

Elion narrowed his eyes at it, "Stay still."

The tail twitched, but then it moved again less than a second later. Elion frowned. After a few moments of concentration, it finally lowered obediently to the ground.

"Better."

He glanced at himself again. As much as he appreciated the wings, tail, horns, and scales, he did not exactly look human anymore.

That was going to be a rather large problem. He remembered one of the notifications that had appeared after the integration finished.

[Bloodline Transformation]

This had to be the bloodline transformation, no? Elion’s eyes sharpened slightly. "Can I turn this off?" The moment he formed the thought and willed the change, his body responded.

The scales across his skin receded first, sinking beneath the surface like ripples fading across water. His horns pulled back into his head without pain. His tail withdrew next, vanishing as though it had never existed. Finally, his wings folded inward and disappeared into his back, leaving only smooth skin behind.

Elion exhaled. His body looked human again, well, mostly. He did not become shorter, but that was hardly a tragedy.

If he had a mirror, he might have noticed that his eyes had not entirely returned to normal. They were blue again, but his pupils remained thin vertical slits, giving his gaze a sharper, more dangerous quality.

He might also have noticed something else. The transformation had made him even more devilishly handsome than before. Unfortunately, Elion was too busy dealing with a more immediate problem.

He looked down at himself again and noticed Elion junior standing upright and dangling vigorously with the singular eye-like slit looking up at him, as if ready for action, except there was no sexy woman to vent on.

’I am feeling rather horny right now...’ Elion thought with a frown.

This was just a side effect of the new bloodline showing itself in real time, two of the world’s most lusftul races’ bloodline in one body; this result was always inevitable.

It could be said that his women would be getting even more satisfaction from this change. Since there was no immediate solution to this dilemma, Elion could only curse silently and reach into his storage to pull out a fresh set of clothes while ignoring how desperately his throbbing dick was yearning for relief.

He certainly wasn’t desperate enough to finish himself off with his hands, though he was ashamed to say he used to do so, back in the day, he was already past that point now. With as many beautiful women as he had, there was no longer any need to resort to such desperate measures, well, not yet at least.

He tried putting on the clothes he had pulled out, only to notice another blaring problem. They didn’t fit anymore. Elion stared down at the useless clothes in silence.

"...Of, fucking course!"

His old clothes had been made for his usual build; this new one did not care about that. After a few unsuccessful attempts, Elion gave up and threw the clothes back into storage with a sharp grimace.

For now, it seemed he would have to claim the rest of his rewards while completely naked. The trial spirit watched this scene in silence. It did not know whether to laugh or cry.

Elion cleared his throat as though nothing was wrong and walked toward the next pedestal.

"One down," he muttered with a sigh. "Nine to go." Elion had far too many things to choose from.

Honestly, every single item and ability he came across seemed like a steal for someone like him. Each pedestal held something that could make him stronger, safer, harder to kill, or far more troublesome for his enemies to deal with.

But after a long pause spent thinking through his current kit and considering what would actually be useful to him, he finally decided on his remaining nine selections. He definitely left out a lot of painfully good things, but he could not have everything.

Besides, being too greedy would only leave him with multiple powerful rewards that essentially did the same thing: Give him more power.

That sounded nice in theory, but Elion was not foolish enough to waste once-in-a-lifetime rewards on overlapping treasures when he could cover more weaknesses instead.

The first thing he chose after the Dragon bloodline was a pair of eyeballs.

Yes.

Actual eyeballs.

They floated silently inside a transparent crystal container, surrounded by tiny rings of shifting light that looked like miniature worlds orbiting them.

[World Eyes]

[Grade: Unknown]

[Description: A pair of ancient ocular treasures born from the remains of a being that once observed the birth and collapse of worlds. Once merged, the user’s perception undergoes a fundamental evolution, granting god-like sight that can see at a molecular level, and that cannot be fooled by any normal means, mana-structure perception, law-sensing vision, and the ability to perceive the unseen; nothing can be hidden from the world eyes.]

[Warning: Such vision would be overwhelming without discipline: users risk madness from too much truth.]

Elion stared at the eyeballs in silence. Apart from the eerie warning, everything else was like a bombshell going off in his head. The abilities sounded ridiculous and terrifyingly useful. These were too good to ignore.

This was a big upgrade from his discerning eye skill, and he probably wouldn’t need any active activation for the eyes, as he did with his skill. He didn’t even need to think about grabbing this pair of eyes.

However, after what had just happened with the Primordial Dragon bloodline, there was no chance he was going to shove another ancient body-altering treasure into himself right here and now.

He could already imagine how that would go. His eyes would probably melt, and his skull would split open. Some hidden ancient will might try to stare at him from the inside.

No, thank you. frёewebnoѵēl.com

A notification appeared.

[Would You Like to Merge With the World Eyes Immediately?]

Elion answered instantly.

"No."

The crystal container vanished into his storage, "I will do this later," he thought quietly. Much later. Preferably somewhere with a bed, several healers lying in wait, a change of clothes, and someone trustworthy nearby in case things went horribly wrong.

His second selection was far less disturbing. It was a head-sized oval object resting on a golden pedestal.

At first glance, it looked like a strange stone covered in layered scales, but faint warmth pulsed from within it, and thin veins of orange-gold light moved beneath its surface like flowing fire.

[Ancient Phoenix Egg]

[Grade: Mythical Beast Egg]

[Description: A dormant egg containing the remnant bloodline of an ancient Phoenix. If successfully hatched and nurtured, it may become a bonded companion capable of flight, rebirth flames, life-fire healing, and high-level fire affinity growth.]

Elion’s eyes widened as his grin reappeared. There was honestly only one reason he chose it.

A Phoenix mount.

There was no chance he was going to pass up something like this.

He had always wanted a proper mount. Alexander’s wyvern was probably the best one he had ever seen in person, and even that had left a deep impression on him.

But a Phoenix?

As far as Elion knew, Phoenixes were mythical creatures that only appeared in old children’s storybooks. Apparently, from the look of things, they had actually existed at some point, and this was a real egg.

A real Phoenix egg.

Elion could already imagine himself making an entrance at some grand event while descending from the sky on the back of a legendary Phoenix, golden flames trailing behind him, while every noble, Mage, and arrogant young mage present stared with their mouths open.

The image was beautiful and almost moving in his imagination alone. He stored the egg away with a look of pure, childlike glee.

The trial spirit watched this scene with pure horror, as the blob of light that represented its presence darkened slightly.

How was it possible for someone to pick the very treasures it had feared him finding in this sea of rewards!?

It was almost like he knew exactly what to grab to make its heart twist in agony. That egg alone was enough to make ancient beast-taming mages start a continental war.

’As long as he doesn’t pick that, I will be safe from a terrible scolding!’ It thought quietly.

Elion, however, was already walking toward the next pedestal with a grin on his face, completely unaware of how badly he was ruining the spirit’s day.
